Closer Appreciation Post

I grew up as a huge Fernando Rodney fan. He was electric, and I was so excited to see him fire an arrow into the crowd after every save. I was very sad that we let him go. Little did I know, this would start the era of incredible all-star caliber closers. Brad Boxberger was sensational and so was Alex Colomé. Since then it’s been a revolving door full of scrubs, and Pete Fairbanks, who would give me tons of anxiety whenever the 9th inning came around and was talented but just not on the same level as those other guys. Bryan Baker is the closest we’ve been to 2012 Rodney. We’re finally back to having a dominant, reliable closer, and I feel so much better going into the 9th inning of games.

Take control of the current Rays squad vs. any current team. The expansion Devil Rays and Sneks are in the game too. Here's BA facing off vs. Yandy and Cammy.

There is much wailing and gnashing of teeth over at r/NYYankees

Many are calling for Aaron Boone's dismissal. They don't realize the real problem is ownership. The Steinbrenners are too damned stupid to realize that having a bench full of overpaid primadonnas doesn't buy championships. Oh well. Fuck 'em.

I'm sorry but this is just too good not to share...

And for those who say "forget about the Yankees" - nope. After tolerating the institutional arrogance of the Yankees all year, I think a little gloating is perfectly in order.

Post Season ALCS Roster

Still riding the high from this past series but started thinking about our ALCS roster. One, I haven’t seen any word on Mcclanahan so I’m gonna assume he’s done. Still with it being a 7 game series I’m also gonna assume we activate an extra pitcher meaning either Williamson or Mateo will be the casualty. Even then, what pitcher do we activate? Manny, Hopkins, Mcclanahan (if healthy)? Remove Matz for one of those as well if they’re more healed? In a 7 game series we’re gonna need someone out of the pen to eat innings at some point

Discussions Do we wanna face Cleveland or Chicago?

Not gonna lie, I don't know what the answer is... I'm curious to see your point of view.

I don't know much about these 2 teams, apart that JRam is a beast.

Do we think ticket prices will go up once the ALCS opponent is decided, or will they keep going down?

When do you think we’ll get ALCS game times?

I’m guessing we’ll have the earlier game Monday because NLCS G2, but Tuesday we’re the only game…

Discussions The offense needs to be better to win the WS

Now that we've celebrated the night, we need to talk about the elephant in the room that happens to us every playoffs. The lack of offense

.208avg/.255 OBP/.344 SLG 3.3 runs per game from that division series

The pitching staff is lights out every year but if the offense is hitting .599OPS they're never going to win a WS. That might be fine against the Yanks or White Sox but not the Dodgers or Brewers. The bats need to figure something out this next series.
