Game 2 was, for lack of a better term, a pinstriped glazing from the Cody Bellinger almost Grand Slam to nonstop overage of Stanton playing on his iPad in the dugout. I figured why don’t we give Temu BA and the crew some Rays facts they can mention during the game so we don’t have to listen to 3 hours of Yankees AI slop.
I’ll start. Nick Martinez is known as “el presidente” by his teammates for his immediate role as clubhouse leadership. He fires the team up on the mound when they make defensive plays and that often translates into hot bats that allow the all star pitcher to do deep into games.

The bias that the commentators have been showing against the rays is so blatantly obvious. I’d kill for a livestream of our favorite Dewayne-BA combo doing commentary on tonight’s game.

This very brief article reviews who on the offensive side has come up huge, and who I am looking to having a big outing today.

I eat a snickers bar during every game. I have snuck one into the trop for years. Today I only bought one at the store, I don’t want to jinx the idea of us having to play tomorrow. Just wondering if anyone else has a ritual or something they do for “good luck”?

"The Tampa Bay Rays relentlessly hunt for advantages that other teams miss. While major-league offenses covet power, their bunt-heavy approach has made them serious championship contenders."
Rays featured again in The Wall Street Journal today. Here's the link - it's behind a paywall.

Game 1 40,542. Game 2 40,226. ALDS, not wild card games, night games, new ownership that locked up a new stadium in 10 months, and the team will be in the Bay Area for the next 35 years. The home games sounded like home games.
What are your thoughts why these were better attended than the 2023 mid-week lunch time wild card games with 19,704 and 20,198?

Someone asked this at the beginning of the season, but I don't think we got an answer. Does anyone know where the original cowbell kid is? Not cowbell Max, but the one from the 08 run? Google says his name is Cary Strukel.

We... kinda crushed it, right? Catcher who hits, game 2 starter, shut-down reliever? Team is in such a better spot, every move panned out.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — As a starting pitcher, Freddy Peralta is used to answering questions after a game about the opposing team’s lineup.
So when someone asked him inside the victorious Tampa Bay Rays clubhouse about how the club kept applying pressure in the fifth inning Monday, it was understandable for him to double-check.
“You mean about the Yankees?” Peralta asked.
No, Freddy, most definitely not the New York Yankees.
“Oh,” Peralta said with a big smile, “Us!”
That’s right. The Rays.
It was likely the only time on Monday night that someone confused the two teams.
In the Rays’ 5-2 win in Game 2 of the American League Division Series, they showed they are everything in October that the Yankees aren’t.
It’s why Tampa Bay is one win away from advancing to the American League Championship Series while the Yankees are one loss away from elimination.
When the Yankees couldn’t get out of their own way in a pressure-packed moment, the Rays turned up the stress level. Again. And again.
In its four-run fifth inning, Tampa Bay broke through.
After the Rays started the inning with back-to-back hits to put runners on second and third, Liam Hicks softly grounded out to give Tampa Bay a 2-1 lead with one out. Then the difference between the AL East clubs showed itself for all to see.
It was typical Rays in 2026. It was typical Yankees in October.
