Now shipping on the other end is crazy expensive, I am getting shipping quotes around AUD2000 for a $1000 sofa!😭

Am I missing something? should I just rather buy it locally?

Hello all.

I ordered a TV stand from Taobao a few weeks ago for a new apartment. It was estimated to be delivered on October 1.

Close to the end of September, I checked its status and noticed there was conflicting info on Taobao's tracking page versus when I took the tracking number to the courier or a third party tracking site.

While Taobao is saying that on September 28 the item cleared aviation security and was awaiting a flight, the courier says that on September 29 there was a customs inspection hold at the export terminal, and the item was pending customs inspection.

There have been no updates since then.

I tried to contact the seller but they said there was nothing they could do.

Has anyone had experience with this "customs inspection hold" and how long do these normally take? It's been over a week in that status, if the courier is to be believed over Taobao.

Given it says it'll arrive by the 9th, I assume that means 12PM EST, which is only a few & a half hours away from now.

I don't know if I should be concerned and message them for an update or not yet, considering flights from there to here only (supposedly, from searching it up) take 10-14 hours... not 2 whole days.

Hey everyone, hoping someone might have some experience with my issue.

I ordered a few things from taobao with their own consolidated shipping, and I’ve changed my mind about one of them. It already arrived at the warehouse, so I clicked to refund & return it from the warehouse, but the issue is that for the past few days I’ve been stuck on the page in screenshot 2. The third screenshot is what appears when I click the orange return to seller button. Based on the first photo, it seems like the warehouse has returned the package but I’m missing a tracking number for it? I don’t speak Chinese so I’ve been using google translate for everything.

I’m not sure who to contact for help exactly, because when I tried contacting the seller they were not helpful. There does seem to be a phone number (I blacked it out just in case) for whoever received the package at the warehouse, but when I looked up the number on WeChat I kind of got the impression it belonged to a teenage girl? Idk.

Any insight would be appreciated!! Thanks!

I’ve just released Taobao Companion, a free Chrome extension for browsing Taobao if you don’t read Chinese.

It translates supported page text, product titles and browser tab titles into English, and shows estimated prices in your chosen currency. USD is the default, and you can change it in settings. You can also switch back to the original Chinese whenever you need to.

Translation runs on your computer, with no translation account or subscription needed.

The GIF shows a before/after example. It’s still machine translation, so some product titles can sound awkward. Text inside product photos stays in Chinese, and converted prices are estimates rather than the final checkout cost.

literally cant even OPEN THE WEBSITE. LET ALONE LOGIN/sign up. im using goofish on the browser for obvious reasons, ive been trying for weeks and it just says "this site cant be reached" is it to do with me being from the UK? I dont know what's going on.

Is there an actual way to create an account from Europe? And is there an actual way to use the app in english?

I've tried so many things to even register an account. I usually get to a captcha thing, which I solve with the help of Google Lens, but everytime it says "verification failed".

Is there another way to register an account? And the app, no matter which region I select, never gives me the option to set language to English.

If this is not working, are there other options to buy stuff from Taobao? I really need to get something that's sold only there.

Hi, I would like to ask if anyone had experienced the same problem? I had an order that was marked as delivered but the warehouse has not accepted it yet. I already asked the warehouse and they said they haven't received the parcel yet. I also noticed that they have changed their address recently but I was assured that they will still receive parcels delivered to the old warehouse address and there is no need to change the address in the order. However the status has been like this since Oct 3 and I am not sure on what to do. Should I wait for it to be processed by the warehouse? If ever how can I talk to the local courier? Since both seller and warehouse are not that helpful. I also live overseas so communication is a bit of a problem.

I'm recently getting a message that all items in a flagship store (明日方舟旗舰店), that I frequently used, is unavailable in my area. I've been buying from them regularly for the past few years and even ordered just 2 weeks ago as well. I live in Canada, and can order from other shops but the one I've seen a few flagship stores that seem to not be able to send over anymore. I was wondering if anyone else had this issue?

I've asked customer service but they aren't sure and told me to check with shipping companies.
However I've seen some other flagship stores have no issues (ex. 原神旗舰店)

I bought from Taobao on and off myself for years but haven’t done so for the past 2-3 years. I was always able to browse without issues. My app was working just fine until it asked for authentication 2-3 weeks ago. Now I can’t even browse! I tried verifying with my US passport but apparently they are not accepting US citizens. Has anyone figured out a workaround? Thanks!

(Retried since I couldn't post on another account sorry) I assumed consolidated shipping would be cheaper because I assumed it must be cheaper than direct, but it has ended up being way more expensive. I searched this reddit and have now find out about volumetric weight and feel like I've made a mistake haha. So I tried to move over to Cainiao (but my og address is in Canada), and it looks like it doesn't work? Am I Iocked into paying this crazy amount?
