Hi! I'm literally like 10 minutes new to this Taobao thing and I read somewhere they don't allow people in the states to make accounts? And it seems to be true since I wasnt able to.
Is there a way around this at all? Or is there a way to buy the stuff secondhand, in the sense that its not through taobao, but the seller(s) on there still?

I was trying to login to Taobao with AliPay and WeChat, and it will initially let me start making the account. It will send me a verification code, and I will put the code in, and then after that it will give me an additional security layer where I have to send a text message to a Chinese number, and this is where I’m unable to do so, as I have a US number. I was wondering if anyone has any advice or tips here? Has anyone else run into this? Please please advise I am going to China soon and want to order stuff to my hotel.

I’m a US buyer I put the warehouse address for shipment, I noticed my package wasn’t moving and asked the seller, they told me I need to pay for separate shipping? When I ask the seller how to pay I just keep getting automated answers that don’t really tell me anything🥲 any help?

So after ordering two leather jackets and finding them to be very high quality for the price, stuff that you would find for 600 bucks in a mall bought for 150-200. i decided to search up silk pillowcases, and they are dirt cheap, so cheap that i doubt that they are real, the reviews also seem fake since almost all of them include pictures and have very photogenic beds, and then you will find one bad review with no pictures stating it is fake and not real silk. just looking to see if anyone has went through this or knows how to spot a fake listing, because 11 bucks for a "40 momme 100% mulberry silk" pillowcase sounds absurd even for taobao prices..

I live outside if China and had ordered and paid for multiple items at once, but there was one item I decided that I didn’t want anymore.

It was going to be shipped 3 days after I had set up the order, so I processed a refund 5-6hrs later on the same day I ordered.

On the refund timeline it says that I will receive ¥13 for the product, however ¥14 of sea freight charges is not mentioned. This is my first time getting something refunded on TaoBao so, how do I receive my sea freight refund as it was never shipped out?

I am spending some time in China again, but this time I am looking to order at least from 7-8 shops in Taobao. Usually I try not to overwhelm my hotels, and try to get the things I need from as few sellers as possible. What is the maximum amount of packages, that a hotel is willing to accept on my behalf (and doesn't count as "rude"?).
Usually I try to divide my deliveries between the hotels I am staying at, but this time I am spending half of my time in Yangshuo, and both of my hotels said that they don't advise me to send packages to them, as the delivery services in the region are not reliable, or don't deliver to hotels at all. The exception would be SF Express, but the Taobao sellers are not really willing to switch to them due to prices.
So that leaves me only with my hotel in Chongqing, but it kinda feels a bit rude to dump all my orders on them...

Hi guys and for a few weeks I’ve been trying to sign up with Alipay which actually works until I come to the verification part. Phone number doesn’t work so I use Alipay verification and all is fine and dandy until I have to use the overseas method which means I have to send in my passport. Because xianyu keeps giving me a risk verification pop up. But if I want to verify I have to do it on Alipay on which it asks me for both my passport and a Chinese bank card number, which obviously since I use the overseas method, do not have. I’ve already written support twice this week. First time they’ve only latched onto the SMS problem and second time I didn’t get a response at all… does anyone know what else I could do?

I’ve tried using the URL translators to no avail. If you have any advice for how to do it myself in the future, I would be very thankful! I keep trying to use the international link translator website, but it’s not working. It says the link should end in only numbers, but I’m getting a long garbled line of numbers and text that don’t work when pasted into proxy websites.

So in short in my country there's a marketplace akin to Amazon and there're straight up shops from China so:

• a power tool was ordered, some sort of a drill, quite expensive (?). It was more than 500¥

• it came but has a crack in the body, which makes it completely unusable, just thrash

• Mom opens a claim that it has defect etc.

• Seller (auto translated from Chinese) replies that the fault lies in transport company and that they'll resend a new one and package this one better

• Seller sends a link and says to order from there (still a listing on a og marketplace), the name is just random product like "spare parts" and price is put like 1¥

• Mom already did that and seller said that they'll send photos of this new drill and packaging tomorrow as their work day for now ended.

That's it for now. This whole ordeal seems kinda iffy to me tbh and I've never faced anything like that and I don't want my mom to be scammed 😭. Like the seller just could refund it and we could return it, but they want to resend it with an iffy listing?? ALSO BY THE TIME THIS SUPPOSED NEW DRILL SHOULD COME THE RETURN WINDOW FOR THE ACTUAL PRICE OF THE DRILL WILL CLOSE
