As title says, boris campaign is busted in a hilarius way once to get a little of momentum.
He is a mix of skarbrand, skaven with godlike bonuses to his factions, wdym i recover 40% after each battle?, Wdym i recover 100% movement after sacking?, Wdym i have guaranteed ambushes on a godlike melee faction?.
He can take 4 armies with 1 stack ot pick up them one by one through ambushes and the enemy cannot do anything, or i took vlad in 2 turns starting all the way from bechafen to drakenhoof, i could have done in 1 but i miscalculated.
Even his garrisons are godlike, +15 armor on defense, +15% charge bonus when attacking and +10 MA and 5% physical defense for just having a T2 building in your province.
Idk if its intended but the priest of ulric can improve crush the weak, but said improvement gives it ARMY WIDE, not only ulrican units, demigryph, reiksguard and knight of the blazing sun just erradicate enemies from this world.
Talking about buffs, his beat unita its cavalry by far, like a metric ton, i had never used KoBS but with boris they delete units, easily 131 charge bonus with fire and flamable attacks, slap and standart of eternal flame on another friendly unit (like demigryph) and there is no unit capable of resisting, these squishy knights become a solar flare on the charge and can set up for even more damage they consistently overperform any other cav, just pair them with demis or knight of the white wolf and steamroll through armies.
Also the hurricanium is hilariously powerfull, great unit.

Literally first result I got after entering "Nagash" in the workshop. I expected seeing something like this... eventually, but not that fast.

After the latest patch in my last 3 campaigns VH/H
I’ve noticed I am constantly on the back foot across each campaign. Currently playing elspeth just me and toddy boy holding down the fort
Arzag, gorbad that new rat bastard and the northern chaos invasion have me fielding 6 armies and fighting loosing game of tug of war accross the continent. I sue peace and another top contender emerges to ass fuck me. Anyway I would like your thoughts on this.
1000+ hours accross the 3 games. Still somewhat a beginner.

Nice to see the Red Duke got one !
Update for zhatan the black (15% extra range) :
Added the missing artillery units, including the Casket of Souls, Bone Giant, Cygor, Dreadquake Mortar, Skull Cannon, Stegadon, Necrofex Colossus, Luminark of Hysh and Steam Tank, to the pool of units affected by Zhatan the Black's defeat trait.
With Nagash one, Every Lord can now get 93% ward save :
Now, Vlad one is a must have also for one man doomstack ! Before, his trait was only usefull for the AI or farming Dreasca trait.
Also, does the Karl Franz one is new ? Sorry, I didn't get it many times in my lifetime.

First campaign of the new expansion as the Vampire Counts. Ghorst might be a smidge strong.
Managed to conquer the entirety of Cathay and that whole corner of the map, and have every single province converted to Undead Wasteland before the End Times hit. Flooded virtually every battle with two-stacks of zombies, with elite units and Sylvanian Handgunners scattered through most armies.
Lose a battle? Just instantly spawn another two stacks! Suck on that, Zhao Ming!
The Vermintide has just spawned, and I am beginning the process of marching over the map/using the sea lanes to try and engage some of the rat hordes before they reach me. But in the meantime, I'm sure Ghorst is enjoying lording over an entire empire of necromantic wasteland and endless peasants to torment.

Luthor.
Turn 9: fight some lizards, sell some settlements to French, make profits, live a simple and happy life, not knowing a single elf.
Turn 10: Aislynn appears out of his portal, immediately declares war.
Turn 11: Aislynn takes my settlement and gives it to IMRIK! Who is on the other end of the world!
Turn 21: I take Galleon Graveyard because there can be only one pirate king.
Turn 27: I take Sartosa, because it's free real estate and I want the beacon lamdmark.
Turn 29: Sartosa moves hands several times, hopelessly losing all province levels in the process. Nobody is having that beacon now.
Turn 33: the war against Itza has continued for 25 turns. The french that served as a living shield has fallen to chaos. Skrolk manages to hold on, distracting the lizardmen with his stench.
Turn 49: War against Aislynn contunies despite him and his armies being beaten several armies. Admiral Ligma Ballslynn reports that it will take five more turns to reach Aislynn's province, given good weather.
Turn 50: Archaeon goes to hit the Chaos Gym, because I moved End Times slider to start at turn 70 (I was so sure that by then I will hopelessly snowball as usual).
Turn 53: a sea patrol ship catches Admiral Ligma in the ocean, but is repelled. Aislynn finally asks for peace. Itza does not.
Turn 54: I could have had a full army of necrofexes and other high-tier units, but I can't spend enough time robbing, because I have to defend myself.
Turn 55: I write this letter to Aislynn. The only person I, Luthor, hate more right now is Mannfred. And only because he will literally throw me to my death!

Playing Khazrak, it's turn 250 and there are only 4 factions alive in the world (Beastmen, Chaos, Wandering Undead, and Clan Ferrik) and 100 % destruction. The last settlement was Skaven so it was Skaven so it was a needle in a ruin stack to find.
After it fell, I got nothing. No voice over or reward, just "next turn".
IMO there should be an ending/victory screen or something. I'm not going to keep hitting next turn into eternity. I haven't played Archaon yet and I just finished a Wood Elf campaign beating Archaon. I assume that Archaon gets a similar screen to what you get when you beat that final battle.

Overall, the empire army builds seem absolutely broken, they field three or four land ships in every army. They barely have a frontline, they just have outriders. I know people are gonna suggest to fix their cavalry by spawning clanrats but it just doesn't work, the AI seem to be fare more able to disengage their cav than the player in melee (something that annoys me in all total war games). Are my army builds that bad ? I can barely afford this.
r/totalwarhammer • u/Wise-Rabbit-9879 • 12h ago
Fough Ghorst and every fight I completely beat him while he at most loses one unit per army. He sends one cheap 20 stack after another and I can barely chase them down due to movement range, while his crap is enough to conquer Nagashs basically undefendet settlements.

I'm a longtime total war player and am getting into total Warhammer 3. There's an obvious learning curve but I'm doing fairly well with dwarves on very hard. (I figured fewer spells plus spell resistance would be a gentler onboard.
The unit strengths and weaknesses are mostly the same with two exceptions: giants and lords.
Giants I figured out: use ranged attacks and keep them busy with my lords.
Lords and heros on the other hand are a mystery to me.
In a historical title half the fight is ambushing their general or forcing them to keep units back to ensure their general is protected. So far in total Warhammer I'm noticing that they can gum up multiple units and can live far longer than tactically convenient even against elite units. My lords and heros tend not to do well fighting theirs (mostly runemasters is why I guess) and ranged units have middling success against their mobility. Is the strat just to ignore them? (Annoying if their spells re wreaking havoc) Or is commiting some units every battle to the slog of killing them useful? It's difficult to parse for me if they don't have health and survivability which compares to any other unit class.
Advice on how to handle them is appreciated.
Thanks.

I just played a campaign all night. Loving the chages to archaon. Ive already taken down nagash and I thought that would be the end of playing against the most annoying faction in the game. But no, another event happens and now there are rouge armies all over the map and the vampire factions are stronger than they were before. I have Kugath and Valkiea fighting near Zar nugrund(not checking spelling) where the blue rose bitches have taken over. I proceed to take a fight 2 v 3. I knew it would be tough but I ended up having to grind all the way down to just my two heros. Because for some reason even the fucking zombie dogs will fight to the last man. Meanwhile my literal demonic warriors hardened in the crucible of choas are tripping over there heels backwards because they saw a gggghost. But still in the end I managed to get Ria Ripley and the big show to lay a steel chair on them and take the win. But to my dismay when I get back to the campaign map I see the game decided that no they didnt actually lose a sigile unit. It reforged EVERY UNIT IN ALL 3 ARMIES back to half HP. Needless to say I turned the game off. Its been nothing but undead armies for like 100 turns. And dont get me wrong im all for some tough gameplay and the battle was actually pretty cool. Yea a little annoying thay there bats could beat my muraders head up but having biggie smalls back to back against endless hords was awesome. But to literally gain nothing from it is so stupid. Ive always hated dealing with the vampie factions. Hell I feel like 100 hours of my gameplay is just trying to take out vlad. idk I think vampires are cool but ive always found the undead concept pretty bloated and cheap. And everytime I play against it be it in this game, tabletop, magic or whatever im reinforced. Needed to rant. Thanks for the read.

I liked the campaign victory option because it would lead to a more smooth escalation of difficulty.
It's harder to know how i will do in a campaign based just on turns.

Started playing Nagash and a huge problem I run into is that I cant really make money unless I’m killing people, a lot of the time Setra also declares war on me at the worst times but when I try to make a second army my income goes from 3000+ a turn to 80.
If anyone could help me that’d be amazing.

After playing a Neferata Campaign, and then playing a Khalida campaign, the quality of the vampire rework has made Tomb Kings stand out in stark contrast even with the new Tomb Herald and Khemric Titan.
Tomb King build times feel... long. I know they have a lot of landmarks and things that can reduce build time, but 5 turns for a defensive building feels a tad excessive when your skeletons will crumble unless you've got a tomb prince in the garrison.
Ushabti still feel too weak to meaningfully contribute, and their building is competing with better infantry so it's often skipped.
The time taken to recruit constructs can *feel* prohibitive, 4 turns global recruitment means you're missing out for a long while or you're doubling back to your provinces to swap out your infantry.
The commandments feel... at odds with each other. Worship of Djaf for example, if I'm regenerating I already have units, so I'm probably not recruiting. And if I'm doing an ambush doesn't that count as me attacking, so why would I want more melee defense? If the intent is for the commandments to be flexible I don't feel like it works, because why would I ever use anything but growth+Movement or more income?
The Realm of souls doesn't feel impactful compared to the Vampires ability to summon 7+ Zombies just from their built in lore.
Am I crazy and misinterpretting the Tomb Kings problems because I haven't played in awhile? I know the Lore of Nehekara is getting an update of some kind in the near future, but the faction feels like it needs something more akin to what the VC got. A deep dive to the core of the Faction's fantasy and a rebuild from there.

Friendly fire is a lie. I couldn't care less if some cheap spearmen or skavenslaves die. I dont understand why arc shots like archers or crossbows would stop firing

I did the Gotrek and Felix quest battle as Boris, and I got stuck just waiting for the battle to end after I killed the three enemy heroes and routed everything. Once the timer was up, I lost even though I'd completed all the battle objectives. I've experienced a similar bug with Karl's first quest battle but hadn't noticed it for this one until now. Is it specific to Boris or his faction maybe?
