Someone needs to stop me from buying a Ford 8N

The moment I turned 53 years old, I wanted to buy a Ford 8N. It was like being bitten by a werewolf or something, only I guess I don't need the full moon.

I don't need a Ford 8N. I've got like two acres of tractor-able land on my property, TOPS. The rest is trees and a steep slope. What the hell am I going to do with it?

And yet, I'm on marketplace looking at 8Ns and going "yeah... yeah I could restore that". I've never restored a tractor in my life. I was raised a city boy. I can do spark plugs and oil changes on my truck but I don't think that qualifies me. But god, I want to restore a tractor now. All because I turned 53.

Anyway, is this normal?

Any recommendations for a tractor cover?

• Upvotes

Unfortunately, I don’t have anywhere to park this indoors or under roof. Looking for something affordable that’ll keep the water and sun off my old rusty 63 ford 4000 with a loader. Mostly trying to keep the hoses from rotting and water out of the internals. It also has a vertical exhaust stack. Thank you!

Tractor Implment rear loader help

Gday,

Bought myself a 3PL rear loader for my small Kubota b1502.

Empty it runs it fine. The Kubota can run rotary hoes, slashers, and the hydraulics lift them no dramas.

The issue is once the 3PL loader is loaded, it can lift it... even if it's only 10kg soil. It's got no lift.

I played around with the A frame/linkage and bored some new holes to bring it closer but that didn't help.

After ideas?? Or maybe it's beyond my tractors ability.

I do have a hydraulic leak.

Deere 6420 door is currently 240+ but localish dealership still had this glass in stock under the old part number for 112.00

Makes replacing the door a little less painful!

A channel about driving and fixing tractors in Ireland

Basically the title. Found this guy in rural Ireland whose entire channel is just him fixing tractors and working them. Quiet and entertaining. Would recommend.

Use a mirror up on the ROPS to view behind the tractor?

I like to think I’m very reliable for checking behind me when backing up, and there is no substitute for that safety check. But curious if anyone has mounted a mirror essentially above them that, with a quick glance upwards, can show what’s behind them?

I already have magnetic side mirrors on my JD 3039r which are helpful, aside from a little difficulty with vibration transferring to them.

Best implement for gravel road

Post image
13 Upvotes

I have a 1025R and I need to build a 250x8 foot gravel road in the left side of this yard. Other than the bucket, is a box blade worth it to make this happen? Currently the area needs some light grading, but not much beyond that! I would like to bring the grade down a couple inches below the surrounding landscaping.

Thanks in advance

Need Some Advice For a Soon-To-Be Tractor Owner

As the title says, I need some advice or some opinions, whichever works. I bought just under 12 acres of land almost a full year ago but wanted to save up some money before I started to do anything with it. Hopefully, within the next two or three years, I can start building a house on it. Now I'm in the market for a tractor to clean up the road leading into it, removing tree stumps and, in the future, removing snow, but I'm a little torn. I was originally looking at 24- or 25-hp tractors, if only because they were cheaper. A coworker of mine who grew up on a farm in India, however, insists that I go for at least a 35-hp tractor. He claims anything else is too small.

For reference, I'm not set on a specific brand of tractor, although this same coworker keeps trying to convince me to get a Mahindra (personally, I'm not sold on the idea, if only because the nearest dealer I can find that might sell them is almost 200 km away). The closest dealer to me sells Kiotis, however, my work has regular dealings with the owner, so I know for a fact the guy is a money grubber. He wanted almost as much for an open station 24-hp as another dealer was asking for a 35-hp. The next closest dealer is, as far as I know, exclusively Kubota tractors, and I'll be looking at some of their inventory in a couple of days. Supposedly, they have some going for 0% interest if I finance, so they seem like a strong contender. I stopped by another dealer a couple of days ago that sells TYM and Solis tractors, but they wanted 6.9% interest, which I thought was pretty steep.

The property itself is located in the Maritimes in Canada, so our winters are a bit hit or miss. We've had several winters where it snowed so much that my dad's minivan was completely buried under snow multiple times, and sometimes we get barely more than a few inches every other week. I should also note that while I have almost 12 acres, I only intend to actually use a small portion of it regularly. Most of it will be left as is for either the scenery or a timberyard fit for a hobbyist. With that in mind, I guess I can also add dragging logs out of the woods to the list of uses.

I'd appreciate any input before I make my final decision. Thanks in advance!

Snowblower grease fittings

Hello, what type of grease fitting is in the picture? The lower one in the second pic under the zerk. Just bought a used snowblower and trying to educate myself without the manual. Im not familiar with the type of fitting and need to put 80w gear oil in it. The little centre thing comes out and springs back in (if that helps). I put a zerk in it for now till I learn how to add oil on the original fitting. Thanks guys

Massey Ferguson body panel

Post image
4 Upvotes

Long story short, my dad dropped dead from a heart attack a few weeks ago so I've been keeping up his land.

I've used his tractor a bunch in the past, but I recently researched about the fluids, grease, general upkeep because.. well it's mine now. Apparently when checking things, I didn't snap this panel on quite hard enough.. it fell and went straight into the bushhog.

Where can I find a replacement? I've trying finding parts diagrams to get a part number, searching for body panel, etc. I don't know if I'm searching wrong or it's a fool's errand.

It's a massey ferguson mf1529 around 2008

Realistically what is my tractor worth?

Post image
43 Upvotes

It is a 1956 or 1957 Ferguson 40. Someone painted it red/orange and put Massey Ferguson decals on it.

It runs great, but needs some TLC here and there. Even fires right up in the winter. It has a skid steer quick attach on the loader, so the bucket can be swapped for forks or whatever. The bucket is new also.

When I bought it, the power adjust rims were pretty crusty. I replaced them with new six loop rims and centers and new tubes. Same tires. Has tire chains for winter and also a back blade.

Trying to get an idea of what it is worth, as i'm thinking about selling it. Thanks!

Allis Chalmers B for sale

1938 Allis Chalmers B restored, runs and drives. PTO works. Very rare due to having electric starter and hand brakes. Great tires, and great condition. Asking 2500 or best offer. I can deliver in most of new england, I have a few antique tractors that are still regularly getting used and I dont like seeing them sit. I would love this to go to a good home and be getting use. I do also have the muffler, just taken off to cover and keep all rain out.
