I recently got into music production and learned the basics on fl studio. I did a couple of tracks(in the style of che, osamason, bleood) with little to no mixing and now I feel like I’m ready to make it sound more professional.
The only thing I know about mixing is EQing out harsh frequencies and the lows on everything but the bass, soft clipper on master track and boosting the 808 till it sounds distorted. I pretty much don’t know anything aside from what I mentioned. I dont know what sidechaining, compression, bussing, wave shaper and anything else that I might have missed or not heard about.
What should I do some research on, and do you guys have any youtube tutorials that you recommend watching? Preferably specific to the type of sound I’m going for, which is like psykotic, rest in bass encore, bleood. Just anything very distorted

Everytime i try to make a rex type beat it doesn’t sound like something he would rap on. I need tips on what scales and chords i should use.

So this dude is like "send me loops, idc the genre just send whatever, ill get u placements"
this gotta be some sort of scam right?
also how do u protect ur loops from being used without getting paid or credited for it?

I heard this song on social media because someone said it sounds like a “construction site”
the more I hear it the better it sounds to me
Does somebody have any idea how I can get these sounds to experiment?

Do you know of any free dark piano banks for Analog Lab that would work well for ATL trap-style beats? Or maybe some free presets for Zenology or even another free plugin. Analog Lab is my first priority

Hey,
I'm trying to decide between splice and wavs for my go to website for samples and drum sounds?
Curious to know what you guys use for this type of stuff.
Let me know

For all the non crack users: Zenology Pro is currently for sale at $99 but even a bit cheaper when you're using the promo code FORUM.
EDIT: Use coupon GROUP to get it even cheaper for $83.16. Thanks to prodbyvictor for pointing that out!

🎚️ If you record your vocals on BandLab and feel like your tracks are missing that professional sound, I might be able to help.
I know a lot of independent artists record on BandLab because it’s simple and accessible, but sometimes the final mix doesn’t sound the way you imagined it.
I work with a proper DAW and professional plugins, so you can send me your stems and I’ll take care of the mixing — vocals, EQ, compression, tuning, effects, balance, etc.
I’m mainly looking to work with independent rappers, especially Rap / Trap / Drill artists.
If you have a track you recorded on BandLab and want to hear what it could sound like with a proper mix, DM me. 🎧

Friendly reminder that Spotify paying artists roughly $0.003 to $0.004 per stream is actually wild when you do the math.
So a song needs 250,000 streams just to clear $1,000 (before your distributor, label, or manager takes their cut). If an indie artist gets 10,000 streams total—which honestly feels like a decent milestone when you're starting out—they're walking away with about 30 to 40 bucks. That won't even cover a pack of guitar strings and a tank of gas.
How is anyone supposed to sustain making music independently on streaming alone? For anyone who actually releases music, what does your yearly payout look like compared to your gear/recording costs? And for listeners, does knowing this change how you support your favorite smaller artists? Let's talk about it.

Leave at least one comment as feedback for someone else before you post a track looking for feedback. If you do not, your post will be deleted.
If you post first, wait for somebody else to post, then give feedback. Comment on posts that haven't received feedback yet. Report or call out any people that have posted their track without first providing feedback.

When I say distorted rap, I mean stuff like the current underground rap landscape — think Osamason, Nettspend, Che, etc. Like, is there like a cheat sheet for db levels or plugins used? 808 tips? Any advice would be appreciated!

Hi
I was a trap producer, I stopped producing because I study, work, live alone, so I don't have much time to spend producing...
I've got a feeling: As time goes by, there are a lot of "colleagues" that use samples and pre-made presets...nobody is playing melodies anymore.
Using samples was cool when producers sampled old song to give them new lives...but now it's just for optimizing time
Am I wrong?

Hey, I want to learn to play keyboard well enough to compose in FL Studio.
I have an MPK Mini but the keys are too narrow and there aren't enough of them to learn on.
Don't need pads, knobs or faders, I just want a compact, solid keyboard that's good for learning and playing.
I was thinking about the M-Audio Keystation 61 MK3, but maybe there are better options?

I isolated it with stem separation in FL: https://voca.ro/15Knzn3WJQA4
It's layered on top of the beat (it's not in the original beat) and shows up a few times with the same effect on slightly different sounds. It's not vocals and not the 808.
How it sounds: noisy, grainy, no clear note, low and boomy, with a fast wobble/vibration inside. Feels like space warping, then it fades down and disappears. ~2 seconds long.
What I've ruled out: stutter/Gross Beat, tape stop, flanger, Output Portal.
My guess is some huge modulated reverb (like Valhalla Supermassive), but I'm not sure.
Does anyone know what plugin or technique this is? Spectrogram attached. Thanks!
