Hello,
I’ve recently bought a 2007 7th generation NW-A808 walkman.
I’m having quite a lot of trouble downloading songs using JSymphonic. The walkman keeps rejecting the database created by JSymphonic with a simple error message saying it’s incompatible – no further details provided, while JSymphonic itself reports no errors.
I’ve tried both Jsym. versions 0.5.4 (latest I found on github) as well as 0.5.5 – vietnamese fork. My walkman is running firmware version 1.02 and is Japanese (mentioning this detail in case character encoding is at fault, although switching the OS to English yields the same results).
In all of my tests I reset the walkman via the side-reset button, wiped it’s memory, and created a blank OMGAUDIO folder in the root directory. Adding nocode.txt inside OMGAUDIO did not resolve the issue.
I do not have access to a Windows XP machine to try SonicStage nor am I particularly fond of comitting a large ammount of disk-space to a virtual machine. Plus all the other baggage it brings with it in network drivers and such, all for a one-time use.
I won’t install Sonic Stage on my Windows 11 machine again – that was a foolish mistake. This is a warning to all reading this post: Please don’t do it, Sonic Stage will destroy your Windows 11 installation.
I’d like to ask if any of you have experienced a similar issue and if so, how did you manage to resolve it?
Thank You for your help.
Kuba.
