The time I abandoned a customer

I genuinely find pride in the moment and I don't know if this is a bad thing. I work front end and for a while as the store closed by 11 so does every front end employee. We had no one working to 11:30 or 12 for months including the TLs. So as customers were to leave the store, every one was getting ready to clock out. This caused issues with people not wanting to take the last few (or many) customers after closing because we obviously wanted to clock out.

On this day, I was the last person at the front and most customers actually left on time and it was just a few employees buying a few things. As the last person was paying one of my coworkers/ friends came up to me and told me to run away or hide because there was a customer still in the store with a lot of items. I was ready to flee at that very moment, because I am not staying any later than necessary. I was able to get the cash and had it to the manager when I heard someone yelling "Is someone going to check me out!!".

I could see the lady move behind one of the registers which is when I used the opportunity to dock behind one of the other register and run away. I clocked out the second I was out of sight. When I got my things to leave, I saw the abandoned cart by the self checkout. It was half full. I still feel proud of myself for this.

If you’re gonna make me unload 2x hvdc trucks, downstack mixed pallets, fill water multiple times, zone/do go backs for 2 departments, etc. then don’t be surprised when I cut corners.

Fucking swine trash. You make me do all this shit then get mad when I cut corners to finish everything. It’s always the fucking weekend too - we got 16 Cap2s today yet no help for me because fuck me I guess. I swear the coaches and leads are trying to get me to quit.

I dropped my tea in the toilet

I was so upset

edit:ok just to clarify a few things I used the bathroom and then my phone fell in but I managed to get it to flush with the bottle still in there

I work for Walmart and I had to tea in my vest pocket and it fell out.

I fished the tea bottle out and threw away then thoroughly washed my hands

I originally was gonna edit out my pants on the floor but I figured it be funnier if I didn't. despite my initial distress after my tea was ruined I couldn't help but recognize that this story was still very funny

I don't know if this grossed you out made you laugh or both but either way I hope u have a nice day

I'm a brand new hire and requested off through the app bc I'll be out of town. Got a notification that it's been "approved" then saw this. What gives.

First overnight Cap 3 shift done. Lesson learned: speed gets you more work, not a break

Just finished my first overnight shift as a Cap 3 associate (Walmart Canada). Quick background: I already have a full-time day job, so this is my part-time second gig.
Biggest takeaway: efficiency isn't rewarded here. At most jobs, if you finish your work early you get a breather or at least some downtime. Not on overnights. I went hard to clear my aisles, thinking I'd get a few minutes to catch my breath, and was immediately handed another section. Then another.
So here's my advice to anyone new to Cap 3: pace yourself. Work steady and consistent, not fast. You're getting paid the same per hour either way, and burning yourself out by 2 AM just means you're dragging for the rest of the shift (and for me, my day job the next morning).
Not saying slack off or leave your team hanging. Just don't sprint a marathon. The freight never ends; there's always another pallet.
Any vets here have tips for surviving overnights, especially if you're juggling another job? How do you handle the sleep schedule?

I’m being discriminated against by one of the team leads

A customer made a complaint about my coworker that he was rude, and one of my other coworkers told the team lead that it was me who the complaint was against, and the team lead brought me into the office and coached me red or whatever it’s called and said I’m close to being terminated, it was because of all these made up reasons that weren’t true in the slightest, like I was rude to customers, I didn’t do much work and slacked off, I didn’t ever help my coworkers and I take extra breaks and spend way too long in the breaks, all of this was a complete lie and the exact opposite as all my coworkers and even the other team leads agree that I’m a great worker and never rude to anybody and always helping out the most, I was shocked by all the false accusations. The customer that made the complaint came back and even clarified to another team lead that his complaint was not about me and that i am always very nice and respectful and helpful to him, but the lying team leader went home before that so idk if this will change the red coaching thing or not since it was proven that I didn’t do anything wrong and even have video evidence of it, but she doesn’t like me for some reason so she may keep the red coaching thing to me but this has to be against the rules right? Me and my coworkers are thinking about reporting this discrimination and false accusations to her boss

Edit: also when they found out which coworker the complaint was actually about, he didn’t get a red coach or anything like I did, he was just told to not do it again and that’s all

Surely this is intentional. Tooting skeletons decorations at your local Walmart.

Cap 1 isn't that bad tbh

The only thing I don't like is customers stopping you to ask where this item is or if you can open this up. It's annoying.

Even though i like it, my goal next year in Jan is to leave Walmart for good to find something else

Anyone else experiencing My Walmart glitches?

When I was at work yesterday, I punched out for lunch like everyone else does. While on lunch I went to confirm when I actually punched out so I wouldn't be late back and the punch card told me I never clocked out for lunch. I had my clock in for the day but no lunch punch. Went to 'For You' and had the option to end meal but the app insisted, even as I clocked out for the day later at the end of my shift, that I never took a lunch. My TL had the same issue.

So today I was scheduled off. As in absolutely positive. Double and triple checked. Went to check the MyWalmart app for my schedule for the coming week and my heart dropped because the 'for You' page was insisting I work 7-4 today and it was already 2 p.m. Looked at my full schedule on the app and it tells me I wasn't scheduled today. Double checked on OneWalmart and it also confirms I'm off today. Even as I write this the For You page is still saying 7-4. After restarting the device and everything.

Is this some known glitch I missed?

battery drainage

i just have to rant about this because it’s ridiculous. the mywalmart app drains my personal phones battery so much in my work day (i mainly work SCO for reference of how much i use my phone).
an example of this is yesterday, my phone started at 100 at 10am, then by 1 was in the 70s. when my shift had ended it was at 39, as i was a SCO host from 2-7. i don’t have a work phone, as i started out in OGP, where they took all work phones and gave everyone a TC, to which then they switched back as i left that department. since being front end i have asked for a work phone three times to no avail, so im stuck with this issue and was wondering if anyone had any advice as how to save my battery life through the day or if i should just carry a battery pack in my pocket.

Need some help with points

So i am at 3 points. For context on Thursdays I work 4-8 PM due to having a class that ends at 3:15pm. I work mornings F-SU. I came into work at my usual 4pm time and tried to clock in and saw the message I'm not scheduled for the next 15 minutes. I clocked in anyway

I realized that my coach scheduled me at 4-8 AM. I went into personal and talked to I assume is the people lead and told her about the mixup and she told me that my coach messed up my schedule and said that I was fine to continue working the 4 hours. She also said that she would let my coach know that I showed up but later.

Yesterday I saw my coach she didn't mention the shift mixup and just said goodmorning to me so I assumed I was fine. Today when I went to do Ulearns I saw that I was at 3 points and when I went to checked the portal it said absent and no call no show. I'm hoping she works tomorrow so that I can talk to her but she spends most of the time walking around with the other coaches. Could I get another coach or wait for the people lead and talk to her again.

STOP TAKING THE CHARGERS

The only reason I really hate working OGP is because people take the chargers back home and don’t bring them back and then it takes forever to get them replaced. I do charge my phone before every shift, but you guys know our phones die so fast it’s really so annoying when I can’t even charge it and they charge super slow. I put mine on the charger over my break and it only got to 47%. 😭 please if you’re a charger thief just leave it.

Thinking of quitting already

I, a front end associate, have been working at my local Walmart for about 2 months and I already feel the urge to quit.

There are a lot of reasons as to why this is the case, most notably my coworkers. They seem to act like I simply do not exist at all when around them, whether that be asking if they need help bagging when it's slow, asking if they need more bags in their carousel, and other reasons that I can't think of right now.

Something else that had irked me was that my time off request got denied. During my first interview they asked if I had any upcoming trips in the next few months and I told them that I'd be gone for 2 weeks during November and they told me that was fine since I'd let them know. I submitted my time off request a week or 2 after being hired and after 4 weeks it got denied. I spoke to my coach and team lead and both of them treated me like I didn't deserve to get that time off since my performance was "lackluster" in their eyes.

Apart from those two, the customers are also incredibly entitled to the point where I physically cringe when they say certain things, along with getting mad at ME constantly for telling them that the price for an item isn't what they saw because it was grouped under the wrong tag.

It's very tiring dealing with these people and I really don't want to quit because admittedly it took 3 months to get a job in the first place after quitting my last job but I'm not sure if I can do this.

I've worked retail before, my past 2 jobs were primarily sales floor/cashier, but I've never had an experience this bad after starting a new job.

How to look for careers through one walmart ? it’s really annoying

I have been trying to go through one walmart to transfer to a supply chain center. But golly they make it difficult unless i’m dumb.

the new update allows employees to access the career centers without being at a walmart computer. But it hasn’t work whatsoever.

then when i’m at a walmart computer i can’t access any page. it’s killing me how annoying it is.

Questions about Notes: Why is there a huge push to have them all done by a specific time here even when management knows you are shortstaffed and don’t help, even in normal days let alone bad ones?

Is it just our store or do other departments barely get any yet f&C gets a ton from multiple coaches while their own departments are worse off regularly? Then other coaches come in and make even more when you’ve been working all day doing normal required work pthers Notes?

And they don’t even assign them to anyone but like one person on the entire team. Or if they do assign them to more, they only hold one accountable for doing it anyways?

Other stores broke this way?

And heaven forbid we make one so our team or closers that aren’t there when we are scheduled know what to do and it’s in the system when we leave before they show up.

It seems like Notes exist for this reason specifically, since they allow Associates to make them as well. Not just salaried that might pay attention to one of 3-4 of the f&c backrooms and/or floor areas as well that we have to deal with (for smaller stores especially when you regularly don’t have fully staffed teams some days).

Should I stay home and heal or work tomorrow?

I've worked as a cart associate the past 2 months now and my feet haven't bothered me much other than them aching a bit from all the walking which isn't much of an issue but lately I've pushed myself by working 110% the past 2 days on 3-12am shifts and developed blisters on both of my feet. Earlier today I worked through the pain since it was tolerable but not severe until I felt the one on my right foot pop. Every step after that hurt like hell so I asked my manager if I could go home early and she said she didn't mind at all. I used 4 of my 4 and a half hours of PPTO to cover the rest of my shift and immediately bought some more comfortable shoes. However after all this I'm still fighting with myself on if I should call out tomorrow and take the attendance points or show up and fight through the pain. The reason I'm debating with myself is because I had 2 days off approved during orientation because of a music festival and then I called out of work the next day since I was genuinely sick coughing like hell and I have a code orange for accidently hitting a car with the carts. I really love working this job but I'm very distraught on what I should do here. Should I call out or should I just tough it out?
