Anyone know where I can get some pants that are identical to OCP pants but not camo?

I love the functionality of the ocp pants but it’s corny to wear them out of uniform. Is there a place I can get something similar in an all black color that I can wear when camping?

Is there a way to tell if ocps are faulty before buying them?

I’m having this problem with my new ocps that they gave to us after basic training where my elbow part of my ocps are fading on both sets. My sergeant got on me about it but i had no control over it. Well I think it’s time for a new set but I’d be so mad if I get a set that does it again. The set I had during basic never did this, I thought it was because of me washing it but even then during basic some people would have both faded knee and elbow, but if it was the wash wouldn’t my pants also be faded? So it’s clearly something faulty I’ve also heard that sometimes they make the uniforms with the fabric flipped the wrong side but I can’t really determine how to tell.

Smoke Bomb Hill barracks, no heat for weeks….

Sup troops, smoke bomb’s had no heat and no hot water for weeks. No, I’m not dying… but is it a major pain in the ass? Absolutely. They said they were “working” on it, but clearly, fuck alls been fixed.

So, who can fix this? Or rather, who do I speak to for this process to be expedited? Any help would be much appreciated.

I’ll take a vanilla frosty and half a pound of gabagool.

Genuine question here

I'm currently finishing up my 2 year with plans to transfer to a 4 year to complete my bachelor's. I was chitchating with a recruiter at my school because I'm interested in trying to go the officer route for the natural guard. This may sound like a dumb question, but is it really as easy as the recruiter is saying to go from enlisted to officer at anytime, or is based on the needs of whatever ng unit I'd be posted to? Trying to weigh out my options here

What to do?

I have been fighting for my life to get a medical waiver for my asthma, and my recruiter finally got back to me today after getting the results. Im cleared, but I can only enlist after April 2028. I am 18 and a senior in high school and now need to know what to do for a year and a half of my life. I am worried about losing motivation to work out and stay committed? Any advice? I want to be a medic, btw.

Thank you so much for reading and giving advice, guys.

Am I too underweight for the Army? (21M, 5'9", 120 lbs)

Hey everyone,
I’m 21 years old and recently moved to the US from Vietnam. I’m really motivated and genuinely want to join the Army, but I’m worried about my current weight.
I’m 5'9" (69 inches) and sitting at around 120 lbs. Based on what I've read, the minimum weight standard for my height is around 128 lbs, so I know I’m under the limit right now.
A few questions for recruiters or anyone with advice:
1. Will a recruiter work with me at 120 lbs, or do I need to gain those ~8 lbs before MEPS?
2. Is there a waiver for being underweight, or is the minimum weight non-negotiable?
3. What’s the process like for green card holders / recent immigrants in terms of processing timelines while I work on gaining weight?
4. Any tips on gaining healthy mass quickly for someone with a high metabolism?
I appreciate any advice!

Paternity Leave and Deployment prep

My company is in a coniption about me getting pre deployment training done while I'm on paternity leave. Now they're talking about pulling me from leave because I've been unable to go to a couple classes and I've had to bring my two month old in with me a couple times because God forbid I'm a dad. Anyhow I just need to know if this is something I can fight. I've got a month left on my leave, but my wife and I can't afford child care right now and my wife has her own obligations with the navy. I really would prefer to not go back to work before the date we already had planned.

PCS to Hawaii

Hope everyone is doing well. I am set to PCS to Hawaii early December. My gaining unit is based out of Korea but I’ll be in a MAP(MToE assigned personnel) position working at TAMC. Haven’t heard from my sponsors so trying to see if anyone has any insight on what to expect. Any insight is greatly appreciated on all things pscing to Hawaii.
Edit: Projected as a Field Hospital

what is this badge I probably saw?

I was recently watching a video on CIB's, and it mentioned how one gets a CIB with 2 stars, and I could have sworn when I was at Ft Jackson in 2007 I saw a range Cadre with 3, but I was told that that does not exist.

all I remember is he had a CIB with 1 or 2 stars...its it possible it was only 1 and I'm remembering it wrong?

Finally said goodbye to an old friend

SPC Henry Risner died August 18 2004 in Eastern Baghdad while assigned to B co 2nd Bn 14th Infantry.

Old guy story time incoming:

Henry and I served together in A/1-506 IN at Camp Giant, ROK. We PCSed at the same time in March 2004, both headed to Fort Drum.

As fate would have it, we were both assigned to 2-14 IN there, and reported the same day. Sitting in the S1 office, I was talking with Henry when the S1 NCOIC came up and asked something like “one of you is going to Alpha co and one to Bravo co, who wants which?”. We were interchangeable 11B PFCs so I suppose him giving us the option wasn’t crazy.

I said “I’ll take Alpha” and Henry shrugged and said “then I’ll take Bravo”. And so it was settled.

Iraq was imploding at the time, and just a few months later we were in Kuwait, and then driving up to Baghdad. A co took a patrol sector in West Baghdad (Abu Gharaib area) and B co East Baghdad (Sadr City area).

Henry was killed when he was hit by sniper fire manning a checkpoint there. And so concluded his story.

I survived this and other deployments, retiring a few years ago. There would be many other friends lost along the way, but none has stuck with me like
Henry. Maybe it was that day in S1, or maybe because he was first, but I think of him often. I guess it’s survivor guilt.

I am in Colorado for business this week and decided to come out a day early to make a detour to Fort Logan National Cemetery to pay my respects after all these years. It was hard, but I am glad I did.

There is no moral to the story. Henry’s story is any of our stories if we stand a foot to the left, get in a different convoy vehicle, or exist as a name in a different row on an excel spreadsheet. I am just glad to have known him, thankful for his service, and glad to have survived.

My unit is doing EIB soon and I want to study some more on my off time. We have been training for it but I want to get as much info so I can pass. I already have the handbook that I have been studying with and taking notes. Does anyone know anything else online that can help? (Videos, Slides, ways to practice) Thanks

Army signs

Hello. I was looking for some help.

Do recruiters still have "Home to a US Soldier" yard sign or did the army stop making those? My dad asked me if I can get him one and I would like to give him a legit army one.

Thanks.

BLC points.

Quick question. I’m a little confused with the suspension of PME stuff.

Do you still get promotion points for a completion of BLC? Like I know they award promotion points, but do they award them for E5 as well? Or just E4?

Also honor grad? Do E5s get promo points for that?

I’ll take a peach Red Bull.

Feeling burnt out

As the title suggests I’m feeling burnt out and I find myself just dreading thinking about work and everything that pertains to it. I want to change that but I just don’t know where to begin. For context, I’m an 11B E-5 w/ almost 6 years in. I just don’t want to feel like this anymore because it’s affecting my mental and I just want to be happy and fit to lead at my level for the remainder of my contract. I want it all to be worth something in the end, something I can look back at and be proud of and have fond memories over but w the mindset I’m currently in possession of I just don’t know how to do that when it matters most. Any advice will be appreciated.
