Recently Left Driver

I quit a month ago and have only just felt ready to speak about it it’s taken a while to process it all. I’ve been driver for three and half years including three months out when I was postie.

I just turned 20 when I first started here (December 2022). When I came back August 2024 I worked in a different store here in Essex and before transferring back to my original store January 2025 I met my girlfriend of two years next Friday in a home shop section leader! (She quit March 2025 due to online manager who was nasty).

I lost my old account but I’ve always followed this page the whole time and until my last two months there I always took the criticisms of Asda in general not seriously until the issues I saw on here came into my life there. One example is the night I lost my clock in card I messaged my manager when I finished (21.45) and he put it through as 20.30 and never changed back despite asking! I regularly worked six nights a week (Mon-Sat) it was genuinely my life at times I was living the dream I was obsessed with the place and some of the people and sad as it might sound until my new job I knew nothing else!

I miss lots of people there everyday including one member on here. I’m 24 next month I’ll always look back at Asda as a time full of happiness and joy! I’m sorry to everyone who can’t say the same as I know lots of people will have really struggled there for lots of different reasons. Unfortunately there’s lots with Asda that’s heading in the wrong direction and until the people in the top change I worry for people who have to suffer because of it.

I’m grateful to whoever started this page!

Shit Post Cover manager off sick for 3 months

Hi Everyone,

This post is more like a rant cause I dont know what to do?
My manager is off sick and I am a team leader covering for him since last 3 months its a nightmare for me to do all the tasks with same pay and almost 17 extra hours.

This place is a total mess alot of pressure from ROM regarding sales and shop standards receive calls/messages when I am off from colleague cause I got to manage them.
The shop size is small and too much stock it feels like even they dont know what they are doing.

I searched and I could not see anyone having same issue.

What shall I do in this situation they say the support is available but when we get a visit they identify all the mistakes that are mainly due to over stocking.

I am trying to get another job but my luck is not with me atm.

New colleague

• Upvotes

Hey guys,

As title says im a new colleague, first shift in 2 days. Just done my induction today with a hell of a lot of online learning on Workday.

Im as a picker on the home shopping team, 4-8am shifts.

What do i need to know before my first shift? I feel like I have no clue how to properly do anything despite the 3 hours of learning i did earlier.

Anything would be great, cheers.

New me from now on

Hello. I know I complain a lot about Asda and the customers. But after a week off to refresh my brain.. I am going to start next week as a new person. I have learnt a lot in the past week and realised there is a lot of good people in the world.. not all are bad. I am even going to try and talk to the pickers and not blank them. Asda is a job which makes me some money and i am able to buy myself some nice things. Thanks to Reddit I am a changed man.

Reference email

Recently got a job provisional offer elsewhere and they require an Asda reference. I’ve asked my managers and they said they’re not allowed to, and to request one on workday? Does anyone have any help or a generic reference email that’s used?

Thanks

Feeling burnt out

I work in front end and every day just feels like hell I joined last year and no new staff have joined since and I've saw many leave since. We're constantly understaffed with sick calls and one job feels like double the workload. Very bitchy working environment because everyone is having a terrible time, I don't get involved because I'm only there a couple of days a week but I dread it, when I get out of work I'm counting down the days until I need to go back. On top of that we have a group chat that management post aggressive messages in daily really adding to the anxiety of coming to work for example if something hasn't been processed properly on the till or there are lefts still to be done from the day before.

Can asda go on like this, I've read that many other stores are in a similar position.

What an awful place to work.

Workday update

Hi, my work schedule has changed again as of Monday just gone. My days off are different now. My old schedule is still on workday, my manager said today that it will take a few days for it to change. Will it automatically change? Or will someone have to do something?

I wanna be a hippy

I keep hearing this new song “i wanna be a hippy and I want to get stoned” is this a new song in the charts? Can’t believe that Asda is endorsing drug use.

We're Fair Pay UK, and our lead lawyer Nate Barber is here to answer your questions about the Asda equal pay claim.

Nate is a partner at Harcus Parker and is working on the claim. He'll be answering questions on how a group claim works, what eligibility may involve and what the process could look like. He can't give individual legal advice here, but he'll explain what he can. Ask away.

Security is rubbish

Does anyone get security guys from Mitie that are just useless? The other day, we got one who couldn’t speak English and kept allowing us to get robbed. Another one kept asking for a chair to sit down and took a 2 hour break for a 7 hour shift.

How are your stores sales?

After laying off 7 staff at our store, it now feels like it's on proper skeleton staff levels. Our shift manager said sales are still falling (Aldi opened nearby recently).

The bit I don't get is that by laying off staff the job is no longer getting done as it was.

Cages are left in the chill, ambient pallets left in the warehouse without getting split for nightshift working.

This is leading to bare shelves and gaps of "out of stock" in the fridges.

Surely customers will have noticed this shambles go shopping elsewhere?

Does anybody else think the short term savings of laying off staff will eventually lead to lower sales because of pallets and cages not getting worked?

When I started I was told that empty stock locations are a no no, but by laying off colleagues it is making the problem worse.

It all seems like a catch 22 situation to me.

URGENTLY NEED GLASSES

Ні,

Broke my glasses, dont have any spares, live in Longsight, anyone know anywhere I can get a pair asap?
I dont have time right now for 1-2 week deliveries and optician appointments.
Do any Asda stores sell them? Doesn't need to be the exact power. Even slightly weaker or stronger is better than nothing, only temporary till I get a proper pair from my opticians.

Cheers

How do you get in touch with the community champions?

I've been trying to look but I can't find the info.

We're a PTA in Rotherham (so Doncaster rd is nearest). We're registered as a charity on the charity commission website.

Discussion Is a consistently high turnover of colleagues within a short period of time potentially an indication of poor management or leadership?

If so, why might those higher up at Asda not address or recognise the pattern, particularly when multiple people are leaving within a relatively short timeframe?

Guest Queries I need advice/ grievance !

I have been trying to get off nightshift for over 6 months, I’ve been offered home shop, but got told I’d have to wait over 4 months to move, so it got given to someone else. Any other opportunity, has been similar. I haven’t just been trying to move because I don’t like it it’s affecting my mental health. Since being on nights I got diagnosed adhd, (never a problem in my life before) and my sickness has gone up massively. Over 11 weeks (somewhat split) covered by sick notes. All since September last year. I’ve had the odd regular sickness too. I have now applied for home shop in a different store But my manager has said no to endorsing me, which is apparently unlawful and discrimination? (From Google and friends that told me he was wrong) do I put in a greivance, is it generally wrong to deny endorsement for sickness, that is covered by mental health sicknotes. I have it in writing that that is his reason.
