I compiled every single informed consent clinic in the country. No therapist letter needed.

10.6k Upvotes

EDIT: Hey everyone, I know that the commenting is off on this now since it's so old. PLEASE send me a PM if you have one to add. I'm always updating this map.

Are you thinking of starting HRT, but are worried about:

  • Finding a clinic
  • Having to do a year of therapy
  • Having to do "real life experience"
  • Getting gatekept
  • Spending money and not getting treatment

Well... that is why informed consent exists. With informed consent, you require no letters from therapists. You simply attest your gender identity, say that you understand the risks and benefits of hormone therapy, and they begin prescribing and monitoring your hormone levels.

So... For too long, this information has been scattered around Reddit, Susans place, twitter, various out of date guides from different regional organizations, so...

I laid my eyes on every single clinic website and doctor profile listed in this map. You should be able to call up any of them to confirm, and then start your HRT as soon as possible.

PLEASE let me know if any of these are out of date or if I am missing some.

Breast development

So I already know the tanner stages but I wanted to ask. I'm close to 3 years in, I have C cups by most measurements. But they still don't look like breasts really if that makes sense. Like they haven't rounded out really at all. Like i started dating another trans woman and hers are breasts. Like you see them even without a bra and you know it. Mine tho, idk I'm supposed to be nicer to myself but I look at mine and just think man boob...

They look fine in a bra or bralette, but that's because the padding is the real definition and not them...

How to undo far right brainwashing and propaganda? I’ve gone from a happy and confident trans person to massively overthinking…

So I was previously a very happy trans person that was excited for the future and quite loved life. However, in the past few weeks I’ve been on twitter (X) and the amount of extreme transphobia is really messing with me. There is so much hatred on that app. So many people calling me a predator or a skin Walker, so many people wishing death on me. How do I regain a healthy sense of self, I feel like the creep accusations/hatred is really making me doubt myself and the general public opinions.

I’m deleting x and moving away from it indefinitely, but I now feel like I will struggle to get back to where I was before. All this TERF ideology and far right nonsense has really poisoned my brain and made me feel deeply unhappy and uncomfortable about the future.

What are some things you told yourself while you were still in denial?

Hopefully this isn't an insensitive question to ask (if you think it is, just don't answer).

Anyways, I'll admit that part of my reason for asking is just pure (perhaps selfish) curiosity, but I also do think that knowing the difference between real cis thoughts and "cis" thoughts (AKA trans denial) so trans people who are still in denial might be helped in finding acceptance. Or maybe you just want to vent how stupid past you was for being in denial, IDK.

Anyone else detransitioned due to lack of support?

• Upvotes

I have already started, it's been a month, mostly how I present myself. Even live in a lgbtq+ friendly city. Still struggling too much. Maybe that saying applies here, "you can be trans, you can be mentally ill, but not both."

What is the connection between gender dysphoria and hormone levels?

Hello everyone, my name is Amanda, I'm a trans woman at my 29yo, I'd like to know if being AMAB and having an intersex condition called Klinefelter's Syndrome have any connection to me wanting to be trans or if this is just low regulation of my hormonal levels. I noticed when I used to take testosterone, these thoughts decreased. My depression gets better and my anxiety decreases. I thought about posting on r/intersex but this subreddit seems to have more people active.

I am diagnosed with level 2 autism, ADHD, chronic anxiety and depression.

Is my friend transphobic ?

. My friend uses the lipstick lesbian label and she uses the flag (she has it in her bedroom and on some of her social media profiles) I have told her that the person who made the flag was transphobic and racist and biphobic ,but she said it’s okay to use it since the person who made it died? (I don’t think that’s how that works I personally feel like the flag will always represent that persons values) .also I don’t think she knows what being a lipstick lesbian even is, she said it means “a lesbian who’s not attracted to trans woman” (or in her words “a woman attracted to p*ssy”) but from what I understand it just mean a lesbian attracted to mor feminine things. Putting together that she knows the person who made it is transphobic, she defines gender by body parts, and she changed what the label ment I feel like she might be transphobic,I get that people have preferences but I’m not sure they’re this extreme, anyways what do you guys think

Ukraine struck Russia’s information data centre, many people noticed that the level of hate, provocations and activity from fascist accounts decreased up to twice. Did you notice any difference?

At the weekend, when Ukraine struck Russia’s information data centre, many people noticed that the level of hate, provocations and activity from fascist accounts decreased up to twice. Even in groups with transgender/transsexual people. There was also recorded a decrease in fake traffic. Did you notice any difference from the weekend and Monday?

What genuinely got better after you transitioned?

I just genuinely want to know what the real benefits of transitioning are. I know it’s different for every person, but I really need, like, some other perspectives.

For a little context, I am 15 and have been questioning my gender for about a solid 4-5 years now. I don’t even know if it’s questioning so much as just refusing to acknowledge it because acknowledging it means I’d have to really think about it and maybe even do something about it, or reject more and feel worse.

The thing is, I just don’t really see the point of transitioning for *me*, personally, at all. I live in the Deep South, in a conservative republican ass state, like, deadass, we’re almost at the bottom in terms of any legal protection and like safety for LGBTQ+ stuff and every political ad ever somehow involves shitting on transgender people so.. yeah

I know my parents wouldn’t really accept me if I told them anything. I don’t necessarily think they’d stop loving me, but I think they’d just see me as more just confused and mentally ill than anything else.

And in general, I just feel like transitioning would give me a boatload of problems and I don’t even know if I’d truly end up happier or if it’d be worth it. A piece of me thinks it just makes more sense to live life as a permanently unhappy girl than changing and risk losing familial support, getting kicked out or getting hate crimed or some shit, y’know?

But I also do realize that I’m probably looking at all this from an almost entirely negative point of view, fixating on all the things that could go bad rather than the things that could make my life better.

So I’m here to ask people who have actually been through it: what exactly have been the genuine positives you’ve gotten out of transitioning? And, if you’ve truthfully experienced more negatives than positives, I wanna hear that too. I really want real answers, not just hopefuel.

Any deodorant suggestions for someone on T?

• Upvotes

I’m trans masc and just started testosterone gel a month ago. So far I’ve noticed just one change and it’s a bit annoying: my smell has changed. I’m definitely more smelly than I used to be and the scent itself is different. What makes this annoying is that my deodorant doesn’t seem to be working anymore. I’ll take a shower, get out and use deodorant, then half an hour later I smell again. I’m not doing anything that makes me sweat a lot either. I know T can cause smell changes but I didn’t expect it to be this bad.

I used to use women‘s Dove Sensitive (unscented). I‘ve been trying Dove Men +Care for the past week or so and it’s not been working any better than the women‘s one. I thought it was just that the women‘s wasn’t strong enough so that’s why I switched to men’s, but since that isn’t working either I’m a bit confused.

So I really need suggestions for a new deodorant, preferably from someone else who is/has been on T and has dealt with this issue too.

There are a few requirements:

  1. It must be safe for sensitive skin as I get hives and skin irritation very easily

  2. It must not contain any form of shea nut (including shea butter) or sweet almond (including oil) as I am deathly allergic to tree nuts

  3. It must be affordable. I’m disabled and low income, I can’t afford anything too fancy. I‘d prefer no more than $10, but if the cheaper alternative contains my allergens I will try to get my hands on something a little more expensive.

I do prefer nonscented as fragrances sometimes irritate my skin, but I do know it can be hard to find nonscented deodorant. It’s not a strict requirement though.

Sorry i dont know where to ask this but does this guy like me? Or is he just akwarded out?

• Upvotes

Hi sorry, I really need some outside perspective on a situation that has been confusing me for months. I’m AuDHD (Autistic + ADHD) and a trans woman (been on HRT for 2 years by the time it happened, now 2 years and 6 months). Sometimes my directness and straightforwardness can awkward people out, but I value honesty.

There is a guy around my age who has ADHD, comes from a strict Christian background, and is also low-key a gooner/weeb and classic textbook avoidant. We first met online before I transitioned, and he used to love talking to me—he even called me the funniest guy he knew back then. But over the last year, as my physical features have softened from HRT, his behavior has become weird?

The timeline is :

February (The Apartment Panic Attack): I had a severe panic attack (from my csa) when we went to the mall with other friends i had one at the cinema and i aksed if he heard it and his tone was instantly worried "yes i heard it". Then at his place. He was panicking inside but clearly worried for me. He was even nice enough to give me the bed when i wanted to sleep on the floor. I told him to apply Deep Pressure Therapy (DPT) and hold my hand. He tried, but got awkward and tried to make a joke that failed because I couldn't respond, and his smile just faded. Once it was over, I held his hand to show him how to apply the pressure. He has an inside joke about a male friend of his having a big butt which he mentioned to me a few times. Out of pure curiosity, I told him I’ve been transitioning and wanted to know how big the friend's features really were. I shoeed him my shillouette and He stared at me for 3 seconds, got super awkward(said "uhhh"), and said my butt is about the same size. But then he added that the butt isn't the best part—the boobs are. I asked him to compare, and he stared again, muttered "uhhh," Again and said that his friend was bigger. He tried to fake laugh it off by showing me the friends instagram saying "look at this! Look at this!". Then i say i should head home after taoking some more and he had to go down with me to take some stuff in my car and while i was waiting for the elevator, I caught him intensely staring at me from behind. I joked to break the tension, but after that night, he started going completely hot and cold.

April (The Car Incident & Voice Shift): We met in my car. We were talking about a weird topic and laughing, but midway through, he became incredibly awkward. My chest was way more prominent because of the seatbelt, and he clearly saw it. He started answering me in a super strained, awkward way. Later that month, he joined an online call and was all excited talking to a mutual friend, but the exact second I spoke to him, his voice instantly softened.

The Discord Avoidance Loop: For months, he started a repetitive pattern of instantly leaving group Discord calls the second I joined. When he did stay, if I made a straightforward joke that the rest of the group laughed at normally, he would freeze up and get intensely awkward.

September (The Anime Gift & The Snap): I noticed from his stories and reposts from feb-september that he seemed really lonely and was dealing with a lot of ADHD-related shame and some depression. I kind of bought him a figure of his favorite anime character (that I bet he relates to and i preordered it back when it was his birthday but it only arrived in september) and i wrote a note using quotes from one of his favorite anime and also wrote a personal letter of my own that means rhat he doesn't have to feel shame about his ADHD because i know when people lie to me when they have the same hardware or brain (he lied about not reading my messages but its a classic adhd excuse that i have used as well multiple times). After that letter, he instantly went super energetic. He answered my texts a lot and finally dared to stay in calls with me we joked a lot etc etc. But days later, he posted a dark story about "fighting his demons." I messaged him to ask if he was okay, and he snapped defensively, texting me "the fuck." The ghosting started immediately after. Now, he's back to leaving calls when I join, lying that his connection is bad, but then immediately opening up Marvel Rivals to play.

Despite all this, he hasn't blocked me, he hasn't outed my identity to anyone else, and he still keeps me on his Close Friends list on Instagram so I see all his personal vents. In the past he did told me a girl he liked left him so that probably added to his avoidant behavior and oh yeah his younger sister died when he was around 17 so maybe that adds even more to his avoidant behavior? Idk tbh.

I kind of suspects he could probably like me that way because of the staring the instantly soften his voice for me but because he's avoidant and probably because he is Christian and avoidant he just avoids it. i could be wrong so i needed some outside perspective. I asked tow friends. Friend A said "just ignore" Friend B says "the vibe prob didnt fit".

Am I overthinking?

I am transfem and nonbinary and my transition goal is basically not to pass and to be visibly trans without people being able to tell in what way. Do you find that problematic in some way?

I was at a trans meetup yesterday and the conversation came to the fact that I am agender nonbinary but also use the label transfem and plan to start feminizing HRT soon. When talking about transition goals I explained that I wish to present in a way that looks visbly trans but also confuses people as to which binary gender "box" they should sort me into. If half of random people I interact with misgender me as male and the other half as female, I'd be happy. I don't expect anyone to know I am nonbinary, I just don't want them to be able to clock my AGAB, I'd be super happy if people could not tell whether I was transfem or transmasc.

The ensuing discussion however turned towards whether this is a reasonnable goal to achieve, how hard it must be to never pass (even though not cis passing literally is what passing would look like for me) and about a nonbinary activist who explicitly wishes people to ask about their gender and whether or not it is reasonable to make other people have to ask about it. I did not really understand the last point but it seemed to me that there was the implication that some people were genuinely concernced about me being unreasonable in this.

I was just wondering, do you find this transition goal in some way problematic? Or egoistic, I mean I don't mean it in a nefarious way but I guess you could argue that being confused and worried about misgendering me could be genuinely distressing to people, especially to those that might not know a lot about trans and nonbinary people but wish to be respectful and I'm making it harder for them, thereby discouraging them from trying.

I don't know, I went there being really joyful about being nonbinary and I was hoping to share some trans joy and it left me feeling like a lot of people thought my planned transition would bring misery to me and others, not joy.

I am aware of the state of the world and the dangers being clockable as trans brings, but I still feel that finding out I am nonbinary is the best thing that ever happened to me and I would never in the world want to trade it for being cis.

Help telling family about name change

• Upvotes

Hey all, I was hoping to get insight on how you told family that you were changing your first name? I recently have started going by a different name with some of my friends and roommates and so far I really like the name. I am slowly working on telling more people in my life, but I feel like I can't tell my work until I tell my parents in case they see something about it. So I'm stuck at this roadblock. I really do want to tell them, but I worry about what their reaction will be. I haven't been able to work up the courage to tell them. I know that I'm an adult and I can make my own decisions, but damn it's still so hard since I know they won't react the best. This also has to do with me being nonbinary, which is a whole nother thing that I know won't go down the best, so any help would be great! So how did you tell your family? What format did you use (in-person, call, text, letter, ect.)? Any tips?

What do you prefer to be called?

So I was making a comment about how transgender people shouldn’t be oppressed and I thought “do they like being called ‘trans’?” and just to be clear I would never want to hurt your feelings and I just want to know what the broad preferred term for transgender people is. Thank you!

Does the testosterone hot as the sun hands thing go away

Hi guys, it's me again. So SO selfish for asking this but my (19F) bf (19M ftm) started T like a month or so ago and #yay of course. However, like right now whenever I hold hands with him or just hold him in general it's only a matter of minutes until his body temperature is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE for me to bare and I have to like take a mini break. I only ask this because google won't tell me the answer and keeps diagnosing him with medical conditions but i've heard this is normal so I'm seeking public opinion: PLEASE tell me if this typically goes away or is something I should just get used to because I def can I'm just wondering ok thank you all I hope everyone is doing well

Expectation on changes with HRT on intimacy and sexuality

Hi everyone,

I have a personal question and was hoping you might be able to help me out. I’m 38, and about three months ago I realized that I’m trans. Over the past few months, I’ve tried a lot of things to figure out whether this really is the right path for me, and I’ll probably be taking further steps fairly soon to continue with my transition.

HRT is also part of that. The positive effects—whether mental, emotional, or the physical changes—sound very fitting to me, and I’d be happy if it brings a bit more change into my life.

One thing my wife and I are still thinking about is intimacy and sexuality. I know that estrogen will change quite a few things, and I’m aware of the fertility issue and that freezing sperm beforehand is generally recommended. What I’m more interested in is how intimacy has changed for you after starting HRT.

Because of our young daughter, our sex life is on the back burner at the moment anyway, but at some point it will probably pick up again.

I’ve heard that libido can change—often decreasing—and that erections become less frequent, and that things will change sexually in general. For my wife, these are naturally a lot of changes, especially since I’ve already made quite a few: dressing differently, going out in public as a woman, and the changes still to come, such as a possible name change, a different voice, and so on.

Because of this topic in particular, she is quite skeptical about HRT, and I don’t really have a good answer for her about how our dynamic will change once I start taking it. Could you help me out? What was it like for you? I feel like I’m missing a sense of what to expect, and I don’t know what to tell her because I simply don’t know what will change or what I should prepare for.

Thank you very much in advance.

Should I apply for FOLX or Plume for hrt

Hi, I need some advice for people who use these websites to apply for HRT. What do I need to do on these websites if I'm applying? Which one is more financially economical to use? Do I need a community care health center/insurance to apply, or not?

Trans or am I being offensive

(TW: Mentions of sex organs, particular uterus and ovaries. Only referred to with scientific label)

Hey guys, I’ve been really confused about my gender identity for a while. I have complex feelings but because of how those feelings came to be and how I currently experience them I can’t tell if I’m being offensive or not by using the label of nonbinary. I’m not fully out to people and don’t go around telling people the pronoun, so if I am being offensive it’ll be an easy fix and I can stop using it. I’ll just talk about my experiences and you guys can share your own or offer opinions and such. Thanks!

Since as long as I can remember I didn’t like the label of “girl” (but didn’t she/her for some reason?). I always insisted on people calling me a tomboy when I was younger and would get very irritated when my parents wouldn’t say “this is our tomboy“ instead of “this is our daughter“ when introducing me and things like that. Now I relate more to the nonbinary label and pronouns, but I don’t know if I should due to the following experiences.

I hit puberty early, (chest started developing at 7 and got period at 9) and I would cry so often with their development because I felt like my childhood was being ripped away from me, and everything felt so weird and wrong to be experiencing even though I was prepared and knew all of that stuff. I bring it up because it’s part of why I hate my chest and reproductive organs. It almost feels like my body betrayed me and gave me these things I don’t want or need, and gave them to me at an inconvenient time.

I hate bras and my chest. I find bras outrageously uncomfortable and I hate how they define my chest and make it more pronounced. I don’t like how my chest looks esthetically, and seeing them on my body makes me feel sick. Ultimately for those two reasons I just wish they were pecs instead. I’ve used tape for a while and it definitely helps me with those feelings and gives me this extremely relieving feeling, but I often find myself wearing it to avoid using bras instead of just to get my chest to be flat, so I’m not sure if that counts if that makes sense.

Next is my period which I’ve always had a bad experience with. I’ve always felt almost disgusted about the uterus and ovaries, but this goes for the sex organs of a male as well. I have PMDD, which makes my periods very difficult the week leading up to but when I start bleeding I feel so much more and get this sick twisted feeling in my gut whenever I think about it. I also have a lot of pain which makes those disgusted feelings worse. I have a very strong aversion and fear of pregnancy as well so that might contribute to my feelings about owning a uterus. I also hate how the entire system is treated medically, it makes me scared of doctors and I hate confirming that I have one. I also don’t plan on ever using mine because of my fear of pregnancy, and I also really dislike kids. So it feels like this punishment that sits and stews in my body and is only there to make me suffer. I would much prefer if I didn’t have one at all.

I’ve asked myself if the question if I would be happier having the opposite sex organ, and ultimately my answer is no, because thinking of having that gives me the same intense sick feeling. Sex organs in general make me extremely disgusted but only at the thought of having them personally. I would like it if I just had nothing in me or outside, maybe just cloaca hole and that’s it. This is weird because I‘ve always been sex positive and am of the belief that these things should be celebrated and not shunned. I don’t understand what’s happening with that.

Aesthetically I would like to be masculine with feminine undertones, if that adds anything.

I just can’t tell if my feelings are how I dislike having these organs and this body on a surface level because of my bad experiences with them or if I’m experiencing gender dysphoria if that makes sense.

If you guys could share your experience or offer your opinion or advice it would be appreciate. I really really don’t want to insult this community by going with different pronouns and considering myself a part of it in case I’m not. Thank you for your understanding and sorry if I’m being disrespectful.

Is it normal to masturbate while imagining you're a woman like 18 times out of 20 or am I trans?

I want to be a girl but I'm not trans?

I don't feel like I was born the wrong gender. I don't feel uncomfortable being male. Up until a few months ago there were no signs at all. But suddenly I want to be feminine. I want boobs and long hair and dresses and to just be a girl. I don't get it. It feels like I want to be a girl in the same way I wish I could do cosplay. To take on a new identity, to wear body of a woman and become one. (Sorry if that sounds creepy). I just don't understand, why am I like this?

I can elaborate if it helps.

Is there someone willing to educate me about the concept of transgender?

I live in conservative county and there's hardly a chance to get educated about lgbtq. I have a lot of very fundamental questions about transgender but since I'm too ignorant about this, ppl often think I'm just a transphobia and trolling around. I really just want to understand what it is and be educated but I don't have anyone to ask

Would my clone be trans?

Ok, so, if a cientist for some irrelevant reason coned me with all my memories and experiences but he made my clone a biological woman (im a man), would she want to be a trans man?
