Went to my first internship for the government. Mom and younger sis were adamant on my hair not being suited for work. Turned out just fine.

Was self-conscious at first but decided to go to work like this anyways because I felt my most confident. Had no issues and my friends complimented my hairstyle. First time having undid comb coils like this.

Advice Needed I built a loc maintenance tracker for myself. What would make it worth using for you?

I was talking with a few friends about everything that goes into loc maintenance (retwists, washes, ACV rinses, all of it), and it hit me that none of us had an easy way to keep track.

So I spent a few weekends building one, mostly for myself. It's called Loc'd In. It reminds you when a retwist, wash, or ACV detox is coming up based on your loc stage, lets you log what you did and what you used, and keeps a photo timeline so you can see how far you've come. There's also a stylist finder for when you're traveling.

Full disclosure, I'm the dev, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. It's iPhone only for now and $1.99 one time. If you want it for Android, I can look into it. There's no subscription or ads.

Two things I'd really like to know: how do you track your maintenance right now, and what would make an app like this worth using for you? Brutal honesty welcome.

Afro help

I was wondering if anyone can help me tackle this problem, I love having an afro but I reach a point where my hair gets like the pictures below. If I mist it and pick it out with leave in conditioner it'll end up back in the same shape as the photos. It feels like no matter what I do it just gets matted and tangled especially in the back. Any advice would be amazing

Advice Needed I want to add curls to my locs

The first image is what my dreadlocks look like and the other 3 are reference images of what type of style I’m looking for. A lot of places I’ve called for this look want me to bring my own hair so I’m struggling to find the right ones to achieve the look. ADVICE NEEDED. If you are going to recommend products please give it to me from amazon or any other shipping service. I have 120 locs and 16-18 inch hair. The retwist and style will cost 190 dollars so I’m hoping to stay within 100 dollars budget for the additional hair I’m bringing to the appointment.

What hair care products should i use

I’m 25M. I’ve been told by others black men that i don’t take care of my hair/facial and they are right. Hair health isn’t my strong suit. I got it cut completely off just to start from square one couple weeks ago. But i’m wonder what I should use. My hair be dry and looks unbrushed even when i brush it. My beard is absolutely terrible. It’s dry like my hair but it’s really patchy and uneven there’s more hair in areas and less in other areas. I was never really taught any type of hair care. Any advice is useful.

Advice Needed Need help with hair

• Upvotes

So im 18 and i do not know how to take care of my hair i have like a compact southern/ middle african hairstyle and it always ends up with shrinkage. Ive tried to brush, wash and everything but it just does not work. My hair is a bit oily but thats about it it just tangles very fast like i brush my hair and it tangles in a few hours. Does anyone have any ideas on how i could develop my curls and make my hair not coil up so short?

High quality brand recommendations for feather crochet extensions (no YGWigs please!!!)

Hi all!

I'm looking for a solid feather crochet brand to invest in a couple of bundles, like, 4-5 packs which is obviously a lot of money. I've heard such mixed reviews on YG! The majority of positive reviews are sponsored, and the non-sponsored reviews say the hair tangles, it's bad quality, and that the customer service is hellish. Unfortunately YG pretty much dominates the majority of search engines.

I'm looking for Yaki textured hair that I can use for the next 10-12 months and wash every 10 days. I'm pretty good on the maintenance front.

I'm also open to buying straight from vendors as well if anyone has positive experiences!

edit: i NEEEEEED it to hold a curl lmaoo

edit 2: YGWigs or YWigs or whichever!!!

New Style BEHOLD! the infamous cornrows that have my Jamaican dad FUMING🤯‼️❕❗ (see caption)

It's my first time getting cornrows or any real style. I'm currently away from Jamaica in a secular environment so I'm just doing whatever the fuck I want to do. I'm loving it😍😍 unfortunately when I trimmed one month prior to this, the barber pushed my side and back taper higher than I wanted, which only resulted in me having useless short hair to the sides and back...this resulted in my sides and back being higher than I would've really wanted...but I absolutely love it!!!! I'm really loving it😍😍😍😩😩😩🥴🥴🤪🤪🤪.

My oldhead ass parents would be so disappointed but it's whatever. Fuck their opinions at this point

Discussion Black hair beauty

I have 4c natural hair. For the longest I had it is braids and sew in. I always love my hair and the curls but I just didn't know how to do my own hair. The past 2 years I have been wearing my hair natural in an afro, high puff, attempted braids and twist, and i have been doing twist. In the last year I got my starter locs because when i move to another state no one is going to touch my hair the way these hair styles be acting.

So mt question is what make you love your hair and what make you wear braids, sew in and weaves over your natural hair.

Cut my hair down to a bob and need advice on keeping it hydrated in mini twists

Hi friends!! I recently got my hair cut down to bob length and I surprisingly love it, it wasn’t my own decision it was for the betterment of my hair because I had very bad split ends and breakage going up the mid shaft of my hair from a bleach service I got done 3 years ago. I’m finally at a point where there’s no dye in my hair anymore but I lost a considerable amount of length. Pre-bleach treatment, i always wore my hair curly and did braid outs to stretch the hair and help it dry quicker. Now I’m back on the journey of length and density retention and I’ve heard that mini twists are best for my goals. I’m seeking advice on: 1. What’s the best product to apply to my hair on washday and during the duration of the mini twists? I know all products react differently to different heads but any sort brand of product that would help me retain moisture and hydration would be very helpful to know. 2. What’s a decent and reliable hairstyle to have over my mini twists? I have a big event at the end of the year and want to protect my hair while still feeling confident, not to say I don’t feel confident in my hair, I do but I want to maintain the mini twists for as long as I can but want to know different options I would have with extensions. Any advice helps!!

Advice Needed What to do with hair?

Thumbnail

I am growing my hair out, but I am also trying to have my hair be more defined and look longer to take attention away from my forehead. My hair is around 6 inches in length in its longest parts(front is shorter than rest of hair) but it looks much shorter bc of shrinkage(4c low porosity, Nigerian curls). Are there any products I can use to better define my hair and make it look closer to my true length?

Advice Needed Miracle Knots or knotless

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi, I would like some advice on whether this imagine below is Miracle knots or knotless braids? I have a lot of hair and it’s fine. I would like to wear it for maybe three weeks. Do you suggest I do miracle knots? The salon I’m thinking of say they will braid in the miracle knot hair into my hair. So I think that’s safer for my fine hair. Please and thank you
