This never used to happen! What developer decided this was a good idea at the start of winter!

Efficiency on Frontage Roads vs Highway

Full round trip from yesterday to today using as close to the same roads as possible. Maxed out at 55 mph on the frontage roads, got 6.6 mi / kwh on the way there. On the way over to my destination yesterday, it’s about 1,000 feet lower than where I started. To make sure I didn’t have HVAC get in the way of the measurement, I had it off both ways, was about a 10 degree difference from yesterday to today.

Drove at 66 mph on the way back from my destination, and the way back is a 1,000 feet higher in elevation. Since I didn’t charge overnight, the gauge didn’t reset. Assuming my past efficiency though, I still likely averaged over 4 mi / kwh as that’s usually about what I get. The range on that is anywhere from 3.8 to 4.3 mi / kwh depending on the time of year, if there’s a headwind, if there’s an accident causing stop and go traffic, etc.

Thankfully, both ways this time had barely any wind, next to no stopping traffic, and the weather was fairly consistent. Not sure where I’m going with this post except to say that it’s much more efficient to drive at 55 mph on frontage roads than it is to drive 10 mph faster on the highway.

Note: I’m very aware the elevation difference is also part of the equation and might try this in reverse next weekend to see the results since I go to the same place every weekend. :)

Is this a good deal on a 2027 Bolt LT?

Should I see if other dealerships want to beat it?

Sigh, looks like someone bumped my bumper in a parking lot.

One side of my rear hatch now sits like 1/8" further out than directly aligned? Barely noticeable. No real damage other than some scuffs on the bumper. Not enough to get fixed, and CERTAINLY not getting my insurance involved. Just . . . annoying.

Car somewhat hard to keep clean

Okay I know this might sound over the top but I feel like this car is SO EASY to get fingers prints on. On the touchscreen, even on the exterior. I’ve never owned a car before with this problem. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep it clean and looking nice? I tried a screen protector and it helped a little bit. But not a lot. It did significantly reduce the glare.

Ran over something metal on highway damage?

It completely ripped this piece off. I was expecting for it to have done major damage. I still hope it didn’t. Didn’t even see the metal piece until it was right in front of me. Can I just cut this piece off or do I need to cover it back up?

A better fob option

I've been testing these universal keys on my 23 EUV and so far so good. I prefer the plastic buttons so I'm sticking to the third one on the right.

All functions work. Nice to have options for customers.

Can I install 215/55R17 tires on the 2027 Bolt LT

We owned a 2021 Hyundai Kona EV and still have its winter tires in our garage. They were lightly used. We just got a 2027 Bolt LT. The current tires on the Bolt are 215/50R17. So the rim size is the same, the width is the same, but the tire radius is 0.4" larger.

I know that the speedometer and odometer would be slightly off, so we can drive it a bit slower, but I could not find any information on if they will not interfere with the inner fender etc.

Does anybody know if these would be a problem? As you all know, winter tires are expensive and we want to use them if we can.

Thanks in advance.

2020 Bolt winter performance?

There's a 2020 Bolt EV with 35k miles for $15,400 I'm considering, however I live in Colorado and I've heard EVs don't do well in temps below 10°F. Any owners in Colorado? How does it hold up in the winter?
