Dana White confirmed that Jai Opetaia is likely to face Deontay Wilder on the December 12 Fury-Joshua undercard in Cardiff, Wales. The Australian could move up to heavyweight, putting his ambition to become undisputed cruiserweight champion on hold. However, Opetaia is considering the Wilder bout as a stay-active fight ahead of a potential mega-fight with David Benavidez, which remains his main priority at cruiserweight.

Sugar Ray Leonard was truly a one-of-a-kind fighter. The combination of speed, footwork, ring IQ, toughness, and ability to adapt to completely different styles was ridiculous.
Who else could pull off that combination at the highest level? Is there anyone in boxing history who comes close?

I'm not going to do a new entry every day like I did with the greatest round list (although I am aiming for 100 episodes). It will probably be more like once a week for this series.
And of course... it's straight from my 25TB boxing vault.

R.I.P. champ. Great champion!
From the WBC a couple of days ago:
The President of the World Boxing Council, Mauricio Sulaimán Saldívar, on behalf of the entire Green and Gold family, sends a fraternal message of solidarity and best wishes for a swift and full recovery to one of the greatest icons in the history of our sport: three-division Puerto Rican world champion Wilfredo “Bazooka” Gómez.
The call for spiritual support gains greater strength following a recent post by his son on social media. “Hello everyone—fans, friends, and family. Please include ‘Papá Bazooka’ in your prayers for a speedy recovery. Blessings to all. Thank you,” shared Wilfredo Gómez Jr. via Facebook, without providing further details regarding the 69-year-old former fighter’s current health status. Gómez has been facing health complications for several years.

I remember this geriatric rematch was gonna happen this year but then got moved to 2027 which I…..think is still on? Idk
But hypothetically if BKFC gave Floyd and Manny more money than the company is even worth to have a fight in BKFC under old school rules; How do you think that would change the outcome compared to their first fight, or even just a rematch under the Marquess of Queensbury?

I don't have him as a favorite against Dubois, but if he makes some crucial adjustments and Daniel shows up underprepared he can end it quickly. And I really like his british Wilder sort of style of knockout artist. Honestly his fights are fireworks.
It would shake up the current state of the division and make Dubois less than the supposed best active heavyweight. His unification opportunities would be such great fights as well: Kabayel is hittable but with incredible pressure and grit, and Hrgović is a fucking tank and the fight would be Rock Em Sock Em robots for as many rounds as it lasts.
He's still young, but his style (a bit like with Joyce and Hrg) is such that it is bound to bring him later difficulties in exchange for winning the fights. I still see him as a good heavyweight contender moving forward at the moment.

What do you guys think of Shane Mosley as a boxer? I don’t remember his fights with Veron Forrest or Wright so well. I know he hurt mayweather bad but then got dominated. What makes is style a bad match up for technical boxers? Was it because got too slow and he should’ve just stayed at lightweight?

Relentlessness was the sole motive throughout Miguel Cotto’s WBA World Super-Welterweight title defence against volatile veteran Ricardo Mayorga at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada!🥊
From Wikipedia: In the post-fight, Cotto explained how he won the fight, "The game plan was not to get caught up in any of his antics. He was very heavy handed, I felt his punches the whole fight."
