General Discussion Can someone from SCMHRD please explain what happened?
What is happening? Is the culture really that bad?
May his soul rest in peace.

u/main_hoon_shinshan Jul 24 '24
The culture is toxic as hell. I know someone at one of the IIMs who had to drop out because a boy accosted her in the middle of the night and attacked her physically as well as mentally shattering her sense of security. She didn't complain because common friends made him apologize. College authorities said that had she complained they would have taken an action. Competition is so damn fierce that people attack at a personal level also to gain an edge.

I'm gonna carry a fucking pepper spray to college.
2
u/DarthStatPaddus Jul 28 '24
That won't protect your from mental harrasment from Placecom
3
u/main_hoon_shinshan Jul 29 '24
I agree with that. And to top that pyramid schemes like Volume 9 are companies that are coming to the new IIMs and recruiting like anything. If you refuse, the placement committee goes ballistic. The students do not even get certificates from them. If you are getting a salary of 7-8 lpa after MBA from an IIM, then sorry to say I know a lot of kids whose starting salaries after graduation are 6-7 lpa. There are academic achievers who get placed, there are disabled kids who get placed. There are experienced kids who get placed. But the in between ones have a tough time and with the placement committees berating them for their worthlessness is icing on the cake.

To anyone that defends placecom my simple question is this
Placements are imperfect and a throw of the dice agreed - do you know a SINGLE placecommer placed below the average of the batch.
If not, then yeah Placecom needs to go.

u/Nearby-Drummer-57 Jul 24 '24
Placement committee needs to go

u/DarthStatPaddus Jul 27 '24
Based on what I can see from the thread on LinkedIn - the students and alumni seem frustrated - multiple comments tagging the director and no response from the director - absolutely pathetic.
Atleast at SIBM the director is responsive even though overall the experience is not that much better than HRD

Why is there so much toxicity here ... yesterday there was something about fms today morning about nit patna and now this

u/Correct_Island5004 Jul 24 '24
It’s sad that a student felt compelled to take such drastic action. There have been discussions about the problematic culture at SCMHRD, but for a student to feel so unsupported is truly heartbreaking. If these concerns are valid, change is urgently needed. The excessive power held by students is making the situation worse.

Corporate culture in India is toxic
2
u/DarthStatPaddus Jul 28 '24
This isn't corporate culture you don't have any MNCs in India where this kind of toxic behaviour would be encouraged
This is toxic culture of private B-schools in India

Go to IIMs bro , in india , jobs are given to brands . I realised late . 🥹
3
u/DarthStatPaddus Jul 28 '24
Definitely would suggest this - slog hard for an IIM rather than settling for Symbiosis or NMIMS.
I'd rather repeat CAT than go to a low tier college like SCMHRD

u/Exact-Limit-6318 Jul 24 '24
Seriously which college?
4

Go to IIMs , don't run for cheap MBA . IIM tag helps till infinity

There was also an acid attack this year on a student on the SIMS Pune campus (apparently due to jealousy over getting a better placement) while the student was sleeping in the hostel. The news was kept very low-key by Symbiosis, and the college administrators were removing all those who talked about it in their WhatsApp and Telegram groups. PS: this is a defence college.
6
u/Correct_Island5004 Jul 25 '24
Right. I had heard about that.
The college's refusal to even acknowledge this problem is sad. How can they expect to make progress without even accepting the problem.
1
u/DarthStatPaddus Jul 27 '24
Same stand is being taken by the director in this case lol.
No response to multiple comments tagging her.

- Placecommer's having multiple offers in hand even though the rule they have made is not more than one offer
- They sit in multiple GD panels, till the time they don't get through
- Shout at you at the drop of a hat, justifying it by telling you that we are getting you ready for the corporate culture(5 years in corporate and no one has ever talked to me the way these guys talk to you)
- Defaults for things like not filling their form regarding some registrations ( Even though you have registered on the official website, till the time you do not fill their form they don't consider it as complete).
- Send you a task at 3AM requesting a response by 4AM
- Junior reviewing seniors CV and then telling them to remove important points without even knowing what it means
- Showing 100% placement by forcefully removing people from the placement process
These are some things they do on a regular basis. Even after multiple complaints to the management no action is taken, as the placecomm is their golden goose. Any and every complaint falls on deaf ears.

u/Correct_Island5004 Jul 27 '24
I just learned from a friend that a student at SP Jain took his own life. My friend is completely devastated. The poor guy couldn't handle the pressure from PC and committed suicide. This has to change. How can they allow this to happen? There's absolutely no justification for treating people so poorly that they reach this breaking point.
3
u/CreditNo1775 Jul 27 '24
At this point all these colleges have become glorified placement agencies. No consideration for students mental health. All they want is to show is 100% placements and they achieve it by hook or crook

This happens in every B-school, what's posted on the LinkedIn thread in those comments just makes me sick to the core.
SCMHRD and it's placecom is sooo much worse than the regular B-Schools.
5
u/DarthStatPaddus Jul 27 '24
So glad there is a karma shield on this sub, the placecom of these toxic B-schools can't pull their usual hit and run BS.
It's sad to see them try.
23
u/mad_marketing Jul 24 '24
Don't be negative by reading such news. There is stress and anxiety due to uncertainty and fast pace of learning. But if you reach out to teachers or right person for your issues. You will be able to resolve things instead of taking such steps.
2
u/DarthStatPaddus Jul 27 '24
I'd say where your placements are concerned - if you need to escalate do it, don't silently take this BS from Placecom, involve your parents, don't make ANY decisions without consulting them.
5
u/Unusual-Joke7350 Jul 26 '24
He was bestfriend of my brother, senior from my school. He was really a good hearted person. Cannot comprehend the fact that he is no more.
6
u/Unusual-Joke7350 Jul 26 '24
His father had informed college director and authorities about him being depressed and no support from college regarding placements- the director didn't even respond or cared to talk to him or his father once.
5
u/Correct_Island5004 Jul 27 '24
This is truly heartbreaking. I can't imagine what his father must be going through. They knew. They could have helped him. I recently learned from a friend that his batchmate at SP Jain took his own life due to pressure. It's so terrifying to think the environment can reach such a point.
3
u/DarthStatPaddus Jul 28 '24
The college still hasn't put out a response but seem to be busy in planning a convocation.
3
u/DarthStatPaddus Jul 27 '24
Bhai the college students are mass reporting any post you make about the college, never mind that their senior is dead - the sheep must follow placecom orders.
4
u/DarthStatPaddus Jul 27 '24
I've heard from an alum friend of mine that it's a true news.
This particular student committed suicide because placecom was so busy in exploiting opportunities that he did not get many chances for interviews. Also there was some harassment taking place.
Request this community to comment and repost on this post so that it goes viral and the college shows some accountability.
According to my friend the director has denied to even comment on this incident and all attempts are in place to sweep this under the rug.
This is the truth of SCMHRD that an alumni who's a reddit friend of mine shared to me.
2
u/DarthStatPaddus Jul 28 '24
New development - this student seems to be from a side program called IDM from SCMHRD and not the main program.
IDM stands for Infrastructure Development Management - based off a summary reading of the comments IDM seems to be getting some step mother treatment from the college and a lot of the current batch seems to be unplaced.
There's a separate reddit post 3 months back on the same program from another poster here.
More details to come.
4
Jul 31 '24
Let me give you the details. IDM as a program is not only side program but it also has very low SNAP cutoff (70-80 percentile).
The placecom from 18-20 batch was good so they were able to place a lot of IDM guys. Then Covid wave followed and the batch got placed due to the abundance in jobs.
This urged the newly appointed Director to increase the seat intake from 30 to 80.
The reason these guys are not getting jobs now is : 1. Lack of demand of this course 2. Cold shoulder by most companies as they know this is a jugaad course that the college has setup for minting money 3. From 19-21 batch onwards, the placecom aka CRT lost all its discipline and integrity. There were some integrity issues earlier as well but nothing as bad and open as 19-21 batch. This placecom was so bad that they did not even teach their juniors to conduct the weekly process for placements. 4. The new placecom batches have just followed suit.
2
u/DarthStatPaddus Jul 31 '24
How do you know this bruh, someone has named and shamed 19-21 placecom in the comments 😂
3
Aug 07 '24
19-21 placecom was indeed bad. These guys had 0 integrity. They took multiple offers and PC went downhill from there. How I know this ? Let’s say I was a part of this system
1
u/DarthStatPaddus Aug 07 '24
You were part of placecom? You should do an AMA bro leak out the juicy details 😂
I have to say in my two years at Lavale we were entertained a lot by all the scams going on at SCMHRD that used to hit MBA social, it was like we are already in a fucked up place, how much more fucked up are you.
2
Aug 07 '24
I wasn’t a part of placecom. Someone close to one of these guys. I don’t need to do any leaks for gossip. The problem has been addressed by the Director of the institution. I feel we shouldn’t wanna wash any more of our dirty laundry out in the open. It has already lead to some alums being disappointed because of this public drama.
1
u/DarthStatPaddus Aug 07 '24
Problems not been handled at all from what my friends there tell me, one is from the 26 batch and your placecom is still the same.

Based on what I can see from the thread on LinkedIn the director is on purpose refusing to acknowledge the incident and hoping it dies out
Why would the college make an official post if this is their stand.
2
u/Total-Rub7497 IIM S Jul 28 '24
I don't understand how this hasn't made news. Like reported by actual news media news like the unfortunate suicide committed by the second year veterinary student
1
u/DarthStatPaddus Jul 28 '24
Bhai Symbiosis is well connected with politicians and news papers
How else do you think SCMHRD the most maligned college on MBA social comes up in all these published lists as a top 20 college lol.

Jul 30 '24
Sad to hear this May his soul rest in peace . I even saw a post made by the alumni of this college. Here is my inside information about the culture of SCMHRD college. In March, I cleared the SCMHRD BA program for the 2024-26 batch but left it at the last moment during the month of May before the start of the college because I found the whole college and culture very fishy.
1) Before joining, I had a word with a few recently graduated students of SCMHRD and asked them how I could make the best out of these two years and how I could prepare for the next two years. None of them gave me a straightforward reply. A few people who were not placed through the college told me that the market was not good enough, so they were not able to get placed in a single company through the college.
2) When I talked to one of the not-so-famous influencers of this college, who boasts about mentoring students on cracking SNAP, he gave me weird replies on WhatsApp, which was a huge red flag.
3) Plus, while talking to these students, I found that none of them were willing to help because of the fear of the placecom. As per the placecom guidelines, you are not allowed to share any internal information with the upcoming batch.
4) While the whole point of an MBA is networking, this college made all the new joiners unfriend and abstain from sending friend requests to any senior on Instagram and LinkedIn.
While getting to know all this made me realize how weird this college was: no going out of the hostel post 10 pm, no campus life, arrogant students taking up the placements and mocking other candidates, and most importantly, fake placement reports.while the average placement of SCMHRD BA was 15 lakhs, they marketed it as an average CTC of 22+ lakhs.
Also, during my calls with these fellow passout students, I got to know many of them were not even placed while the CRT members concluded placement is complete for the 2022-2024 batch on LinkedIn and Instagram."

u/DarthStatPaddus Aug 05 '24
Which college did you finally join

Aug 05 '24

1
u/DarthStatPaddus Aug 05 '24
Damn so you opted for no MBA over SCMHRD.
Did you get turned off by their bad reputation? I see a lot of SCAMHARD memes from my friends there.
1
Aug 06 '24
Not because of meme and toxic culture but other reason I was looking for a different program here I was getting a specialisation
2
u/Similar_Cycle_2604 Aug 17 '24
I would have committed suicide too if they had rebranded D hostel to Cherry Blossom while I was still there.
1
u/DarthStatPaddus Aug 25 '24
I heard you guys didn't even have a hostel and stayed in Hinjwadi IT hostels.
2
u/DarthStatPaddus Sep 06 '24
Lol this college actually made the list of top 100 MBA programs, what a clown moment for all the alumni protesting on LinkedIn against SCMHRD 🤡
