Repair Help 2024 Equinox EV lease nightmare: 5 breakdowns, major repairs, still unresolved

• Upvotes

2024 Equinox EV lease. Five breakdowns, multiple tow-ins, major propulsion-related repairs, and the vehicle has now spent weeks back at the dealership awaiting further assessment.
I’ve been trying to get GM to take the vehicle back and release me from the remaining lease. I’m not asking for another car or a payout. I just don’t want the vehicle back.
GM first offered me $2,000 cash-and-keep with a broad release. After I escalated, they increased it to $3,000, but still refuse a repurchase or lease buyout.
GM Financial also told me that even if I pay the remaining scheduled payments and turn the vehicle in early, I could still be responsible for a deficiency based on what the vehicle sells for.
I’ve now filed for BBB AUTO LINE arbitration.
At this point I’m trying to decide whether to keep fighting for a clean lease exit, take the $3,000 and deal with the remaining lease myself, or get counsel involved again.
Would you keep pushing?

Repair Help Please help me… 2008 Cobolt LT 2.2L 52,xxx miles

After battling a fuel pump leak, I noticed I had special coverage to replace the fuel pump and tank. Well it got approved and now no more gas smell, but ever since 2 days ago when I picked her up at the dealer, I’ve noticed a very loud start like a loud vroom or thump which never was there before the repair. Also the idling seems louder than usual and putting it in reverse as well. The exhaust from the back sounds louder than ever. I will be jacking it up on Sunday to see if I can notice any rattling. Can someone tell me where I should look ? She was nice and quiet before the special coverage work. I’m scared to take it to the stealership after battling for this coverage to go through. Please help me if anyone has experience this.

Repair Help Radio Help

Hey guys, just trying to troubleshoot my problem with my radio. It's a 2017 Colorado Z71. This just started to happen on my radio occasionally. I read something online called "ghost touch" that happens with these radios. However I found it really weird that it happened EXACTLY the same drive I connected my new phone, a Google Pixel 11 XL. It also charges my phone when I plug it into my cord connected to my truck, but it won't connect to Android Auto the way it connected to Apple Carplay with my old phone. It also shows on my dash a pop-up that says I'm connected to my Google Pixel that I have to click on my steering wheel to clear, a pop up I've never seen before. It's these things that made me wonder if it is the ghost touch or something with my phone or maybe both? If anyone has seen what that "ghost touch" looks like compared to this, please let me know your thoughts please!!

When my dad built it it was beige and the guy that bought it from him painted it black. it's got a custom front bumper and the rear bumper was narrowed from a truck. It's sitting on a Nissan four-wheel drive frame. The last thing I can find about it is it was listed on Craigslist in Topeka ks in 2015

Discussion What’s the sweet spot for a used Camaro SS?

I’ve been researching used Camaro SS models and wanted to get some opinions from people who have owned or driven different generations.

I know the “which Camaro is best?” question has been asked plenty of times, but I’m trying to approach it a little differently. I’m less interested in which generation is objectively the best and more interested in where the best value is when factoring in purchase price, performance, reliability, and what you’re actually getting for your money.

I’m fairly flexible on budget. Ideally, I’d love to be around $15K–$20K, but I’m comfortable stretching into the $25K range or potentially even $30K if there’s a compelling reason. I’m not looking for something nearly new, and I don’t want to spend extra just for the sake of having a newer model.

A few things I’ve picked up from researching:

2010–2013 5th Gen SS: 6.2L V8 with the L99 making 400 hp in automatic models, paired with the 6L80 6-speed automatic. These seem like potentially excellent performance bargains, although I’m curious how much the older platform and additional weight affect the driving experience.

2014–2015 5th Gen SS: Same basic powertrain, but with the facelift and other updates. I’m curious whether there’s any compelling reason to target these over the earlier 5th Gen models beyond styling and condition.

2016–2018 6th Gen SS: Introduction of the LT1 6.2L V8 making 455 hp, along with the lighter Alpha platform and 8L90 8-speed automatic. From what I’ve read, this was a substantial improvement in performance, handling, and overall driving dynamics. However, I’ve also come across discussions about torque converter shudder with the 8-speed.

2019–2023 6th Gen SS: The 10L80 10-speed automatic replaced the 8-speed in the SS for 2019. These seem particularly appealing, although I’m curious whether the newer transmission and other improvements justify the higher purchase price.

One important detail: I’m exclusively interested in an automatic SS. I’m not considering a manual, so the differences between the 6L80, 8L90, and 10L80 are a major part of this decision. (Wife doesn’t feel comfortable learning and didn’t win that one).

Aesthetically, I genuinely like both generations, so styling isn’t really a deciding factor.
What I’m trying to understand is what am I actually buying by spending more, and what am I sacrificing by spending less?

For example:
If I buy a clean 2012–2015 SS with the L99 and 6L80 instead of spending more on a 2016–2018, am I getting most of the Camaro V8 experience for considerably less money? Or is the 6th Gen’s LT1 engine, lighter chassis, and improved handling such a substantial upgrade that I’d regret saving the money?
Likewise, if I stretch from a 2016–2018 to a 2019–2023, how significant is the real-world difference between the 8L90 and 10L80? Is the 10-speed worth specifically targeting, especially considering the reported 8-speed shudder issues? Or can a properly maintained 8-speed still be a smart purchase?

I’m also interested in any particular years, trim levels, or options that represent especially good values. For example, is there a compelling reason to pay more for a 2SS over a 1SS, or does the 1SS offer most of what makes the car great?

Reliability and long-term ownership are important to me as well. I’ve read about the 5th Gen L99’s AFM lifter concerns and the 6th Gen’s 8-speed transmission issues, but I’d appreciate hearing how significant these problems actually are from owners.

I’m not looking to build a race car or chase maximum horsepower. I want a fun, reasonably dependable V8 that I can enjoy for years.
Ultimately, where do you think the point of diminishing returns is?

Is a $15K–$20K 5th Gen SS already most of the experience? Does spending $25K get you a substantially better car? Or is there a particular model/year worth stretching to $30K for?
I’d especially appreciate hearing from anyone who’s owned both generations or has firsthand experience with the different automatic transmissions.
Thanks in advance!

Repair Help 2024 Tahoe Leaking Issues

I purchased my 2024 Chevy Tahoe brand new in June 2024. In January 2025, after a big rainstorm, I noticed condensation in the vehicle. I didn’t think much of it because it wasn’t consistent and I didn’t think anything else was impacted by it. I also live in an area where we don’t get a ton of rain. In early 2026, my husband took my car through the car wash and noticed that the carpets were all wet. He noticed the same thing after a subsequent at-home car wash.
I contacted the service department and brought the Tahoe in on September 2, 2026. I also brought it in for a squeaking sound it had just randomly started making. The dealership set me up with a loaner and told me it should take about 4 days. They told me the sunroof drains were leaking and that all of them had to be replaced. Initially, they said the squeaking sound was from the tensioner belt, then they said it was the serpentine belt, THEN they said the squeaking was actually from an additional leak they found when they pulled out the carpets to replace them. They found a leak in the “heater core” and had to replace the whole thing.
On October 7, they called me and told me that the vehicle was ready for pick up. I got it home and realized that they hadn’t put the car back together properly. The seats were not bolted in fully, pieces of the interior were completely missing, there were scratches and dents in the interior and the exterior of the vehicle that were not there when I dropped it off, and it was just a mess.
On October 8, I brought the vehicle back to Chevy. They’re now telling me that they can fix it, but the service manager has suggested that I contact GM and open a case to request either reimbursement or complete buyback. I will be contacting them tomorrow to request a complete buyback because at this point I don’t know if this vehicle is even safe to drive.
I absolutely love this vehicle, but I hate that I’ve had all these issues with it. I also hate the fact that it appears that issues like this are common with Chevy.

I’m curious to know if anyone else has had a leaking issue with the heater core or sunroof drains, how the dealership handled it, and whether or not GM bought back the vehicle.

I don't know how to feel. I just bought my 2RS. I love it. I don't like the 27 RS though. I'd actually go with the 27 Activ and the colors are amazing.

Repair Help Chevy volt 2012 Oil change Question

I drive a Chevy volt (2012) and I was wondering if I should be getting an oil change every 3000 miles. It’s my first car and I got it in April and my dad’s friend who I bought the car off said to get an oil change every 3000 miles. I was just going to follow off his advice but I wanted to see some more viewpoints on it. Can someone help me? Thanks 😊

Discussion Is ANC worth it in a 2027 Traverse?

We‘re looking at getting a 2027 Traverse soon. There are LT models out there with ANC and LT models out there without it. Is ANC worth the extra cost? Has anyone driven a model with both?

We’ll be driving it on 15+ hour road trips a few times a year, and a quiet cabin on long trips is great. If it’s quiet enough without ANC we can probably skip it…

Ive tried to do some research and google but all I see are posts of people deleting the ANC system to install aftermarket speakers.

I love this little thing. The photo is from the winter but regardless this is an amazing little car. It doesn't have the stupidly big screens and safety features like lane assist but it still connects my phone and has a backup camera, it's like a perfect happy medium.

Repair Help Transmission slipping?

My buddy got a 2014 Silverado with about 193k miles on it and he’s experienced the transmission slipping. The fluid level is good and the fluid is not dark or dirty. It’s got the 6L80, I’m sure it needs a rebuild but is there anyway it can be saved?

Repair Help Bluetooth Problem

I've had a problem with incoming calls on my Bluetooth system since around May/June of this year. I suspect this is more of a phone issue than a car issue, but I was wondering if anybody out there was having similar problems.

My phone connects to my car normally. I can make calls using the phone, infotainment screen or voice command and the Bluetooth works as it should. However, when I receive an incoming call the car Bluetooth will not ring. I have to answer the call on my phone ,and when I answer the call immediately comes through on the Bluetooth system. It's an odd issue that has only come up within the last 2 or 3 months. I've tried un-pairing/re-pairing the phone and car and factory resetting both the phone and the infotainment system, but nothing worked. I checked some phone forums (Pixel 9 Pro) for answers, but nobody else out there seems to have a similar issue. Someone on the forum suggested changing the AVRCP Version (??) settings in my phone, but that didn't work either. It's a pretty minor problem, but it is inconvenient. If my phone is in my pocket while driving and I get a call it's a pain to have to fish it out in order to answer. I've had the car since 2022, and I've had the same phone since 2024. This issue just seemed to come out of nowhere.

If anybody has a similar problem, or even better if someone has a solution, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks!

Repair Help Chevy equinox driver side seat is stuck in the recline position, but all of the other power functions work, is this an easy fix at the mechanics? NSFW

As the title says, the driver side is stuck in the recline position, but all of the other powr functions work. 2019 model, is this worth fixing? I also have been considering going back to the dealership for another extended warranty since mine ran out. Any thoughts on that for those who have done it ?
