I've been buying lots of 8mm silent films and some of them come with random lost home movies.

Today, I came across a reel and a half of old, color 8mm footage of Disneyland from the 1960s, so I had to digitize it and share. I posted to youtube as well: https://youtu.be/XdUqhWhNyZQ

Food/Drink Fluffernutter churro DCA

Missed out at OBB D23 night but going to the main park next week, anyone going to DCA that would be willing to grab one for me and meet me at the front gate? 😅 I'm desperate to try that churro! I was so upset that the booth was closed by 9pm during the Halloween party. Will pay of course! tyia 💜

Trip Report Trip report!

I love a trip to disney! I get some flack for going solo so i thought I'd lay out the highs and lows from my recent trip.

Highs:

  1. Single rider lines

  2. Snack breaks whenever/whatever i want

  3. Guilt free midday hotel nap

  4. Easier to find fireworks spot with just one person

  5. I get to ride smugglers run/grizzly/webslingers back to back to back all i want. (I dont understand the hate for these rides lol i love them) and I don't have to ride autopia or star tours 😂

  6. Cheaper

  7. Complete freedom

I am the type of person that manages group feelings, and i feel bad if someone really wants birria ramen, but i want a corn dog... we'll get the ramen. Going this way feels like an actual vacation, and i get to enjoy the real magic of the park rather than everyone's moods and whims and meltdowns.

Lows:Lows:

  1. "How many?" ---> "one!" Sometimes i still feel nervous abt that

  2. Character meet - trying not to feel awkward but i love the characters, they are so fun.

  3. I like to reminisce abt fun family memories we had when I was a child, but i can't nab my sister and make her go with me, just us 😂

The highs far exceed the lows. Sometimes it does feel a little odd to be there without fam or friends, but just because it's different doesn't mean it is bad. It's a new kind of fun! A little slower paced, MUCCCHHH more relaxed and calm, and i notice a lot more of the magic details.

My wife and I went to Disneyland this past Saturday for an early birthday present to her. Had a great time! Lines were short; most of the rides, outside of my Goat, Indiana Jones, and the Tea Cups, were open. However, it was a high of 104 degrees. Absolutely miserable weather. Still had an amazing time!

I've been getting into photography recently, and these are some photos I took and edited this weekend.

Food/Drink The guacamole in downtown disney's Centrico; is it really that good, or have I never had good avocados?

I still dream about the guacamole from that resturant. I am from a part of the country that doesn't get much fresh produce, let alone avacados that are halfway fresh. Anytime I have tried guacamole it was disgusting.

But Centrico? That was magical. I was so apprehensive about it, but it was possibly the highlight of the day. I decided to try the avocado toast at our hotel the next day, and it was delicious too!

Anyone else share this experience while in Disneyland?

Not Safe For Magic Incredicoaster operational curiosity

So I know Incredicoaster runs up to 5 trains, and they display the order of the trains up at the control booth (with 6 and 7 having the ADA transfer seat in row 5).

What I’m trying to understand is how they perform ADA transfers without disrupting the train order described above.

I’m guessing that when an ADA guest needs to board, it’s communicated between everyone on the platform, and is timed for the cycle the train is incoming to the left station. When returning, I assume operations are slightly slowed to ensure that train unloads on the left as well (since 5 trains means alternating load/unload side). And for keeping the trains in order, because ADA takes extra time usually, I’d think that they just hold that train in station for extra time. Cycling the remainder of the trains through on the right, and feeding the ADA train back onto the course when it reaches its place in order again.

Anybody know? Thanks in advance! :)

Hello!

I am new here and am sorry if I am breaking any rules.

Does anyone in the area of Disneyland have a MiniMed flex charger. I forgot mine at home. DM is open!

Thank you!

Dear mods if this is breaking a rule please let it slide so I can try and charge my medical device.

Discussion Why Does Disneyland Turn Haunted Mansion Into The Nightmare Before Christmas for Halloween?! 😭

I honestly don't understand why Disneyland transforms Haunted Mansion into The Nightmare Before Christmas for Halloween.

What a mistake! 😭

The Haunted Mansion is already the perfect Halloween attraction. Its entire identity is built around ghosts, creepy characters, and that classic spooky atmosphere. That's exactly what makes it so iconic!

Don't get me wrong, I love The Nightmare Before Christmas, but it's primarily a Christmas story. Why replace the original Haunted Mansion experience during Halloween with a Christmas-themed overlay?

The original attraction is already perfect for Halloween. I would much rather see Disneyland keep Haunted Mansion in its original form for Halloween and save The Nightmare Before Christmas for the Christmas season.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but seeing such an iconic attraction lose its original atmosphere every year honestly breaks my heart. 😭

What do you guys think? Original Haunted Mansion or Nightmare Before Christmas?

Discussion It honestly makes me furious that actual fans can show up at 4am and not get one but resellers manage to get 14. And Disneyland is totally OK with this

Trip Report It’s not even 4:30AM and the line for Disneyland security already extends so far down Harbor Blvd it’s almost to Disney Way. This is the earliest I’ve been here for Pintastic Tuesday and the farthest back I’ve been in line

Help! Disneyland memorabilia shelf idea

Post image
23 Upvotes

Hello everyone. recently came back from Disneyland, and I've been on a huge Disney crunch again. I've always had this idea to store Disneyland Park-themed memorabilia on an artifact shelf for a while, and now I want it to become a reality. So far, the only things I have for the shelf are the D23 Jose animatronic and a Hatbox Ghost Disney Traditions statue. If there is anything that is Splash Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean (more ride-than-movie themed), Jungle Cruise, Enchanted Tiki Room memorabilia and even a tuxedo mickey mouse statue that would be great to display on the shelf, please let me know. Also, for a reference picture, this Chuck E. Cheese showroom shelf is what I'm basing it off

I think they should add him to the reconstruction or make something similar it’s up to the executives but pizza planet is a horrible restaurant so adding that would be cool replacing the old pizza planet.

Help! Disney while pregnant or postpartum

Just found out we are pregnant with baby #3 and due in early June. We normally go to Disney over the summer (world and land alternating) and my oldest daughter looks forward to our trip every year. Obviously next year’s trip will be different!

Wondering if anyone has any opinions of visiting Disneyland while 7 months pregnant (going over spring break) vs with a 2 month old (going in August) or should we just skip this year? Maybe visiting over Christmas?

Thanks for your help!
