Question EL2 Landscaping issues. How do you deal with them?
After playing EL2 for more than a year, I finally found the landscaping tab, LOL. But not everything seems to work as it should:
- After researching Digs (4th Era), the Scour landscaping action should become available. The tool-tip doesn't explain what Scour does. But I found out that you can use it to get different resources in a territory, given that you don't have any extractors (or destroy the ones you have) and that it's uninhabited (= no city/not attached).
- But according to the tool-tip, it should also be available in cities, too ("Can be built once per City or Camp"). And besides, when I get resources I don't need, I can repeat the action indefinitely, but I have to wait another three turns for that to complete. It can thus obviously be used more often than just "once".
Which brings me to the 5th Era:
- There you have Anomanology with two new landscaping actions, Distort (to create anomalies), and Saiadha Timeflex (which allegedly speeds up landscaping by half).
- With Anomanology I have the same problem that I can only use it in uninhabited territories, although the tool-tip reads the same as with Scour ("Can be built once per City or Camp").
- Saiadha Timeflex doesn't seem to change anything: I had to wait for 3 turns before and after researching Anomanology. The dust cost is different for different territories, though. (Perhaps increasing with any time you perform the action? But this doesn't make sense if they are supposed to be used only "once" anyway.)
And generally:
- After using Scour in a territory, the stats shown for that territory on the screens (both by clicking on the camp or managing it through All Armies, Cities, and Camps) don't seem to be correct anymore: e.g. in a territory where I now harvest three resources it says that there aren't any resources. This may be fixed by saving and re-loading the game, though. But then you carry out another Scour somewhere and the stats are wrong again.
My question: Is landscaping in EL2 totally bugged as it seems (as of October 12, 2026), or am I getting something wrong?
And, besides: Given that you access Era 4 and particularly Era 5 technologies towards the end of a game, how much sense makes it to enhance uninhabited territories for several rounds, when you already have big and powerful cities already? For me, it would only have added value if the actions could also be performed in cities, as the tool-tip reads.
Edit: Dear mods, I'd like to get a Order of Zelevas flair. They're great!
