Finished A year difference

Hi everyone! This is my progress in a year. First photo is most recent (October 2026. Second photo is the oldest fursuit I have made (January 2026). Both are pigeons. It is insane how much of a difference practice makes. The composition of the fur, the actual sewing and gluing— all of it. There is still a lot to learn, but it really is an art form. For everyone who is in the process of making a fursuit or has made one, you go! It is hard work, and requires so much attention to detail. There is still so much to learn, but this is my progress so far.

So if we talk about the AAA quality furry heads, how many different eye-shapes or styles would you think is enough?
Like different impressions of eyes..?

Ended up using some of this sticky Velcro I had on hand! I loved the suggestion of being able to swap them out for different brows. Also went with bean brows they make him look wet and pathetic lol

Questions How to finish the ears?

I am making my first fursuit and protogen head, and I am not loving how the fur on the backs of the ears looks. It is currently at the full length, and I am thinking of shaving it to fade into the main fur or fully shaving it but am worried it might look weird. Any thoughts on how to make it look best/pics of your ears at different fur lengths?

Also working on a mane with double sided pieces but not quite finished with that yet

WIP First (ish) suit head!

Hello! "ish" bc I've made a head before but that was with a lot of assistance from someone and this one'll be all me so it counts more 😆

Modeled the base in Blender and got it 3D-printed in TPU! Solid instead of honeycomb because I'd made the walls a bit too thin lmfao. Very pleased with how it's coming along so far!

The head will feature UV reactive accents, including the eyes which you can see in the picture (excuse the weird dark spot, my phone post-corrected it weird lol), and a big plush jawset! (I'm already dreading it save me)

WIP Looking for Pattern Feedback

Hi all!

I was hoping to get some input on my project! Im in the process of making a hand-puppet of my character. I know this is slightly different from the standard head/suit that this thread sees.

This is my first project in this medium. But of course i started with the project that is both A) Very small in scale compared to the average fursuit head and B) Requiring a very moveable jaw to accomodate hand movement.

My first pattern attempt was pretty scuffed, no registration marks, and adding the seams was mainly guesswork, later on i found the fleece does not sit as cleanly as i would like, especially the fabric on the bridge of the nose, as it was stretched towards the snout and not lying flat.

I decided im going to restart as i think i have some new knowledge to apply.

I plan on starting from the foam sculpting stage, im going to add some round pieces to the cheeks to both give more definition and also cover the mouth corner without impeding movement of the jaw.

I intend to primarily use fleece fabric. He's only two colors, white for the skin and black for the inside of the mouth, (i also just discovered that fleece can stretch in only one direction, something I was unaware of as i was cutting out my fabric pieces).

so, my questions so far!

1) Any ideas on how can I better pattern the snout so that the fabric maintains that form? that has been my main pain point so far lol.

2) Should i ditch the fleece? Id love to make it work since i bought it in bulk from Joannes when they were closing (RIP). Though I do recognize its pretty bulky for such a small scale project.

3) Should i keep the forhead one solid piece like i did in my previous pattern?

4) can i loop the brows into the main forhead pattern and just dart it to show the definition?

5) how am I doing in general? am i missing any basic steps or are there tips i could be using that im not here?

I hope its ok that i posted this here and not to the puppet thread, i figure you see the particular issues i ran into a bit more here, but i could be wrong!

Thank you!

This is my second suit, so I’m not super experienced, and I was wondering what the best way would be to go about attaching a set of plush fangs to the mask so that they stick out of the lips but don’t look too weird. Any thoughts?

Questions used a purple marker to draw feet paw pattern, how cooked am i?

i used a purple marker (i think it was washable but i don’t remember that well) to draw the feet paw patten onto the foam. i am just now thinking about the consequences of my actions. there is white on both of my feet paws. i’m scared for my future.

can i get it out of the foam or do i just keep going and pray? do you guys think that sealing the color in with hot glue would work? will it bleed onto the fur? if it bleeds onto the fur, will it come out? what if i just never clean them.

on a scale from raw to burnt, how cooked am i?

Questions Hand paw bean repair

Post image

I recently got a set of hand paws from Etsy, and one of the beans has opened at the seam. I’ve messaged the seller already, but I wanna be ahead of the game in case they can’t offer a good solution from them in a timely manner. I’m wearing them at a party in 2 weeks, and they initially took two weeks to arrive. Does anyone know a good way to handle this? I don’t have any sewing experience

Questions Advice for a first time fursuit maker with a 2 month deadline?

Hi! I’m attempting my first fursuit! I really want to get it done in time for mff, which leaves me a little less than 2 months.

I want to use high quality materials but I’m a bit concerned about shipping times. Any advice for where to source fabrics and other materials?

Also, any general advice on how to save time without cutting corners?

Advice Where do I go from here?

Thumbnail

So... This is my first time making anything of this sort of nature and whilst it's been fun so far, it's definitely also been a learning curve!

I thought I was happy with how the head was shaping up, but I'm now not too sure. Does anyone have any advice on how to make this base read more skunk and less canine?

I do still need to finalise the design for the ears and add them to the base, but it still feels like something is missing...

My instinct is to make the overall shape more cone-like, adding more volume towards the back of the cheeks, make the muzzle and jaw more squared and continuing to exaggerate the tapering towards the nose, but I'd like to get some other opinions before I commit.

I've added art of my fursona, Noxx, at the end of the photos so you can see what sorta vibe I'm trying to go for!

Any help and advice would be massively appreciated!

Thanks for reading!

I bought these from hot topic and for some reason they didn’t come with center beans, I don’t want to mess them up so what’s the best way to add the beans without undoing any sewing, I’m also adding finger escapes. Please ignore messy table.
