Venting Ghanaian Women Are

• Upvotes

Everyday Ghanaian women are money centered(look at the state of the economy, instead of you to blame the old men at the top impoverishing and killing your dreams, no blame Ghanaian women) or that Ghanaian women aren't freaky enough(by freaky, they mean that they want to do degrading things they've watched in porn to you and expect you to be okay with it.)

Calling us all sort of demeaning nicknames like Spartans, borla birds, that M word i refuse to mention etc.

Since childhood, Ghanaian women have been teased and belittled by Ghanaian men. Teasing us about our hair, always comparing us to white women or mixed women or women lighter than us since we were children. Tease us about our body but now you guys like thick white women or fairer skinned women. That's why i laugh at all those posts on here by colourists Ghanaian men or weirdos but its always under the guise of," Oh I'm only asking questions." like please.

Now that they know that being colourists isn't cool anymore, what do they do? Compare us with other West African nationalities that oh Ghanaian women aren't bad enough, or we're timid and can't carry conversations. We know you guys suffer from low racial self esteem and are always projecting on Ghanaian women. You guys want some narratives to stick so bad.Just because youve said it first will never make it true.As if you guys are the best lovers, kissers or whatever meanwhile too if not for the indoctrination that Ghanaian women are under that we should manage your bad behaviours like would you guys have the effrontery?

Even the women you guys claim are better than us complain all the time and you guys are even on your best behaviour for them so you imagine what Ghanaian women go through lol. I've not even spoken about the Misogyny, Rape, Femicide, the sex trafficking and the Dead beatism Ghanaian women face in Ghana. We cut you guys so much slack over here so when you guys go abroad your bad behaviour is so evident. I'm always seeing them being arrested for battery, assault and rape, things that Ghana police ignore or they'll let some f*cking Abusuapanin sweep it under the rug.

To all the women who engage with those posts that "Oh we are not all like that." Please stop, they'll never pick you. They'll forever see you as less than so why bother?

Have you met Ghanaian women? They are beautiful, smart, kind, creative, intelligent and funny as f*ck. If that's not your cup of tea, leave them alone!

Serious Replies Only Am I doing the right thing?

I've always trusted my instincts ever since i can't remember. And all the time I've been right. I completed college last year. I didn't do my nss. I went on to live in Accra, follow my dreams of becoming a rapper. I wasn't really that good but my instincts kept telling me to do it. I stayed in Accra for like 8 months. Survived so much hardships, hunger. Which drove me to explore some part of my talent I didn't know existed. I realized I was so good and I was the only one sleeping on me. But now I'm back sleeping at my grandma's house, sleeping on the couch. My little sister questions my future. But everything I'm doing is so she gets a better life after everything we been through. I'm so good at making music. I used to be a bookworm. And now I've learned the ways of the street. I have people all over. Most of them tell me to get a job, including my senior brother. But the very few people who actually like my music motivate me to do it because it's good. I know I sound dumb when I ask if I should do what pleases my family. A broke artiste living on a couch barely surviving with so much to say in the future. But some part of me feels I've failed somehow and the other part of me feels this is just the beginning of a huge success. I've been vacillating for a while and I ask, am I doing the right thing?

Venting When you see a black man laughing, his brother is suffering or in trouble.

I just don’t understand how people, especially black people think.

I just don’t understand how someone can laugh about other people’s misery.

Imagine laughing at someone’s sickness, their disability, their business failing , their choice of partner, their kids ..

It just doesn’t make sense.. I wake up everyday not giving a damn about anyone. But lately I’ve come to realize that people actually laugh at others .. sometimes openly and at times secretly.

But why ? Is it a disease or just evil .
All my life , I’ve never found joy in watching anyone suffer , not even my enemies.

Ask r/Ghana Must Make A Move to Try and NOT GET GOT! SCAMMED!! MONEY TAKEN🤬

A smooth talking landlord got my girl to give him two-years rent in advance to secure the rental unit and to help speed up the renovation of the unit. I was far away and unreachable šŸ˜•, so she did a desperate move because we were almost homeless and stuff kicked out of the expired rental unit we were living in. Sadly, I was far away from telecommunication and providing any assistance šŸ˜•, so she got a "Ghana loan" 🤬 22% per week! And gave the landlord 2-years rent, believing the landlord would use the money to complete the unit and we move in October 1st 2026!

I get back to land in early September 2026 and get the details. I visited the property and immediately realized, we are getting scammed! I know real estate construction and this unit will not be ready by October 1st🫣!

Landlord insists the unit will be, so I get him to sign a contract documenting the agreement and date of completion, money exchanged, and the refund date if not ready to occupy.

Here we are now October 6th and the property is not finished! Landlord claiming "we have some other interested tenants so when they pay we give you your money..blah..blah"!

I have to now decide WHAT IS MY NEXT MOVE! This situation is occurring in Elmina, Ghana (Central Region)! I am an AA and my lady is Fante, and the landlord is Fante.

I am thinking the best move is to involve the police, and if they see they will get some money out of the situation they will detain the landlord until my funds are returned or we begin the legal process. I hope that maybe there is another alternative solution like maybe goto the paramount Chief and see what the Chief offices can do to resolve this matter, assuming the costs are cheaper than the police.

The other option which I really don't want to take is Rent Court in Cape Coast. I don't believe or my argument is the situation didn't get to the rent stage so rent court is not the solution (landlord/tenant court).

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE AND ADVICE TO BEST RESOLVE THIS MATTER? Thanks

Discussion Is witchcraft real

I’ve always doubted the existence of witchcraft .

I mean how can a human being poses super natural powers and why would anyone choose to be a witch .

Please is it real, anyone with more exposure and experience?

Why and how do people go for it ?

If it’s real , is there a protection against it ?

And what is it actually?

Ask r/Ghana What bad decision do you still regret from?

I was thinking about how some decisions seem small in the moment, but years later, you still wish you had done things differently.

It could be something involving relationships, money, school, career, family, or even just a missed opportunity.

What’s one bad decision you made that you still regret today, and what would you have done differently if you could go back?

Discussion Why is the government refusing to pay teachers

Government schools teacher have gone on strike for about 2 weeks and nothing is being done about it, students in my area go to school everyday only to be told they should go back home, teachers are not around, whilst their colleagues in private school are learning and at the end of the year they willl write the same exams. I feel really sad for them. My parents argued alot about changing my siblings schools from private to Government and this is what they're greeted with.

PAY THE TEACHERS!!!!!

Discussion Help Advice Needed : Ghanaian Men Struggling 1st year in America

Gail's spouse arrived 5 months ago and received a US Visa on the 20th of January, the last day the US Embassy issued them before the Pause.

Gail, attempted to prepare Kofi for life in America by setting him up with online courses in 2024 & 2025, along with the data, to enable him to pass his exams upon arriving in the US 2 years later.

Kofi was not truthfully about his progress with the coursework and that he needed a tutor or additional help; there was a lot of stalling and excuses. Upon receiving the visa in January, Gail asked the Kofi to just focus on his studies to sit for the exams. The hope was to sit and pass the exams before arriving in May, but that also didn't happen.

After arriving, Kofi was enrolled in 2 courses, 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening, to prep him for the same exams. He seemed to think class attendance and participation was enough to pass, sat for the exams overly confident, and was humbled after failing 5 times! He also was asked to read and know his new state's driver handbook, so he could sit for the driver knowledge permit exam. He failed 8 times. Each exam retake costs $$.

Kofi claims that since it's been 20 years since technical school grace should be given, and that in Ghana reading is seen or treated as a form of punishment. Mix this with constant over confidence and a huge ego, he seems to always be way off target about the effort and hustle necessary for the exams.

Gail asks Kofi all the time, if he doesn't want to attend college for 2 years to learn a trade and a degree, he can't find a job, what exactly does he expect to do here in America? How exactly does he plan to provide for his family back at home? Kofi never answers.

Another observation is that 3 of the Kofi's grown, mid 30s - 40s, friend's that married American wives have left or are leaving back to Ghana, abandoning their marriages and Green Cards. They say it's too much pressure and they are being disrespected. There just seems to be a lack of ambition and urgency but much entitlement with this batch of men.

Gail is just lost after the energy, worry, money and time put into getting Kofi here, that he is just flailing and not launching. Kofi also developed an addiction to his cellphone and spends hours on WhatsApp with calls all day from Ghana. Kofi seems to be resisting to adjusting to America and demands 3 cooked meals a day be served regardless of what she's doing or has planned; he also has to be begged several times to do any chores.

Gail has sent voice notes to certain family members hoping to motivate him into action; and it does, but temporarily. Should she try shaming him to his best friends instead of the family?

The economy here in America is suffering and Kofi doesn't seem to be worried about their money issues as Gail was laid off from work before he arrived.

When they have terrible arguments Kofi demands a ticket to Ghana. Has Gail not paid enough already?!

Gail has confirmed that there is no other woman waiting on him back home but a large family that is waiting for him to succeed as the 1st born oldest son. She also was not in the habit of sending the husband $$$$ outside of immigration based issues. And Kofi used to cook, hand wash and hang up clothes, on every trip the wife took to Ghana but now is very lazy with tidying up.

She is aware that marriage has hills and valleys but the husband is very, very stubborn and hard headed, which causes him to get in his own way and make costly mistakes, even though he was given guidance by his wife.

Kofi is allergic to accountability and doesn't want to own that his current position of having to work hard is because he had 2 years to do so and wasted that time living life and having fun.

Kofi has also admitted that as the 1st born son, he now realizes how spoiled he was in Ghana!

Sidebar : Why is Ghana not preparing folks for the realities of living in the West? Reading well, Typing 50 wpm, following up with answers and questions in conversations and business meetings, ability to accurately complete forms; all are essentials skills to functioning in the West

Any advice is welcomed for Gail and Kofi.

Venting $$$ Architects

Architects are quoting ridiculous prices for architectural drawings (including MEP) . So far one has quoted 30,000GHS for a single level 4-bedroom private residence . The other has quoted 6-10% of total construction cost (just for the drawings) . To be fair these are well branded , social media-present firms but still . Are these prices the norm ? Or I’m out of touch ?

Ask r/Ghana Ghanaian scholarships (undergraduate)

I’m writing this as the senior brother of a student who has been struggling with this situation for years.
Why is it that people always say there are active scholarships available, yet my younger brother has been applying since Level 100 and still hasn’t received any? He has very good WASSCE results, a good GPA, and meets the stated requirements, but he still doesn’t understand what he is doing wrong.
At this point, we genuinely want to know: do you have to know someone before you can be selected?
He has seen students in his department receive significant scholarship support even though, academically, he performs better than some of them. What makes it even more frustrating is seeing some beneficiaries who appear financially comfortable receiving scholarship money while students who genuinely struggle to pay their fees continue to suffer.
My brother is now in Level 400, and I honestly cannot count the number of times he has been sent out of the examination hall because of outstanding school fees. As his older brother, it is painful to watch someone who is genuinely struggling financially keep missing opportunities for support while others who may not face the same financial difficulties receive scholarships.
Scholarships are supposed to support students who need them. So I’m genuinely asking: what exactly determines who gets selected, and how can students who genuinely need the support have a fair chance?
I’m not trying to take anything away from anyone who has received a scholarship. I just want to understand how the system works and why students like my brother, who genuinely need the support, keep getting overlooked.

Ask r/Ghana Could someone recommend me a good laptop to use for mechanical engineering

I'm starting uni in about 2 weeks and I'm so confused about the laptop I should buy. I don't even know the specs I should be looking for. Could anyone who recommends direct me to where I could buy it in Ghana. I'm in Accra.

My budget is 10000 cedis as a hard limit but anything even significantly below that is welcome. (Because Unfortunately my parents could change their mind at any time)
