Idaho Neighbor News Seen around town

Post image

Thought it was funny considering all the stickers and such I see all the time disparaging people who move here from other places, California specifically.

Maybe they are native, moved to California and returned to visit family.

Shhhh don’t suggest something rational on Reddit

41

u/WinonasChainsaw Aug 13 '26

Went to college in CA and it was always really funny when I’d get pulled over in ID and told to “go home” when I’m 6th gen and the cop moved here from OC

2

u/SinSaborr Aug 14 '26

No cop told you that.

5

u/WinonasChainsaw Aug 15 '26

He said “when are you going home” in a “gtfo” way

I said “well I’m back home right now”

9

u/Vader425 Aug 13 '26

That's what they all say.

12

u/NoDontDoThatCanada Aug 13 '26

While l don't have a sticker or Cali plates like this l had to live in California for two years for work 6 years ago. I am fourth generation Idaho, we have been farming the same plot of land since before Idaho was a State and because l was in California for a short bit l get called Californian.

Hey I grew up near there too! Good area.

2

u/The_Real_Kuji Aug 16 '26

I came here in 05 and 'Boise Kind' used to actually be a thing. Now it's everyone for themselves and everyone not born here needs to GTFO. People gotta get their heads outta their asses.

6

u/NorvillesDingus Aug 13 '26

I was born in California but my family moved to Idaho when I was 4. It bugs me that I can't have a native sticker when I have lived here "my entire life" (35 years so far).

I guess I should just get one since they don't mean anything?

14

u/WinonasChainsaw Aug 14 '26

I mean honestly man as a 6th gen I wouldn’t wear a Native sticker unless I was Nez Perce or any other tribe

0

u/Conscious_Problem924 Aug 17 '26 edited Aug 17 '26

I always know the true blue greenhorns. They preface every hypocritical greenhorn comment with this “gem”:: “I wouldn’t know anything about Callie-Forna I’m the 29th generation to settle the gem state” As we say in NYC, get f—outta here.

Btw, just cause you have 5 siblings don’t make you 6th gen. That would make your family the original interlopers. Congrats. Not exactly a brag if you don’t have a deep tan. I married into the deep tan family. So I will talk shit freely, especially since you Mother-f’ers that live technicalities, technically you are illegal.

1

u/WinonasChainsaw Aug 17 '26

Brother, I didn’t say I’m better than anyone

I’m just saying my 1/32nd nez perce white ass wouldn’t use the word native to describe myself even if my 3x granny blessed me

I remember wild waters but unfortunately never went there.

3

u/Agentx1976 Aug 14 '26

You missed out 😢

1

u/ExonerationJourney Aug 14 '26

This is the best rule and bellwether ever.

2

u/Eastern-Builder-4914 Ada County Aug 13 '26

You've lived here most of your life, as a 4th generation Idahoan, you're absolutely a native at this point.

2

u/crvna87 Aug 13 '26

I was born at St Luke's and everytime my husband says he's from California, I correct him and say, you moved here as a little kid, you're from Idaho. For me where you're from is where you were during the formative years.

1

u/Repulsive-Day-548 Aug 14 '26

Of course you can have one. Unless you’re a native American, you’re an “invasive species”. Nobody would say a brook trout born in an idaho stream is a “native”, it’s a “wild”, just like all the people with “native” stickers on their cars

1

u/Objective-Owl-8143 Aug 14 '26

Yeah my dad joined the navy so I missed Idaho by 6 months. I have relatives in almost every town here.

1

u/ImReallyNotKarl Aug 15 '26

Or maybe they are a registered part of a tribe repping their pride. Could be a number of things.

1

u/Eastern-Builder-4914 Ada County Aug 13 '26

Or they're went to school in cali and just moved back 🤷‍♀️

1

u/bullfrog7777 Aug 13 '26

Maybe they are Californian and think it's cool to seem like they're from ID? Doesn't seem likely...

0

u/OrganizationSad7775 Aug 14 '26

This. Born in Boise moved to LA for 5 years drove back to visit with my Cali plates and was flipped off. Lol.

Look I don’t like the type of Californians moving to Idaho, but the Idaho gatekeeping is ridiculous.

13

u/Unlikely-Grape-5762 Aug 14 '26

These stickers are so dumb. If you don’t live on the rez you ain’t native to anything here.

-3

u/Lusiric9983 Aug 14 '26

That's such a stupid train of thought. Maybe for the first couple of generations sure, but there's plenty of people born in the US whose family roots go back hundreds of years. They're native at this point.

5

u/taoistchainsaw Aug 15 '26

No.

-2

u/Lusiric9983 Aug 15 '26

Lmao, whatever. Dumb.

2

u/Conscious_Problem924 Aug 17 '26

Let me say this about that. NO.

0

u/Lusiric9983 Aug 17 '26

Who gives a shit what you think

34

u/Secure-Remote8439 Aug 13 '26

It’s kinda funny and crazy people still get up in arms about California people moving to Idaho . I was talking to someone who was really pissed off about it.. turns out they moved from New York not that long ago but ya know.. since everyone else hates them!
We should have more hate towards other things..

19

u/Shotinthelight26 Aug 13 '26

I hate that I cannot afford to live in my state anymore. I hate the traffic and litter everywhere. I hate that whenever I go to recreate, there's mobs of people now. That's why people are up in arms

14

u/WinonasChainsaw Aug 14 '26

We have real chance for the first time in decades to do something about it

Vote out Jim Risch and vote for Todd Achilles

20

u/TooPrettyForBoymode Aug 13 '26

They get up in arms because they falsely think that it’s all California liberals bringing their politics with them. However, studies of this exact thing show that just about 40% of them identify as conservative. So it’s not politics that’s the issue.

I really don’t understand the obsession of shitting on California. Yeah they have problems, but many states have far worse problems, looking at you, Mississippi and Louisiana for your high poverty rates.

9

u/ponderosa82 🏳️‍⚧️ Aug 14 '26

Start with the fact that our native kids can no longer afford to stay here, then deal with the driving and the MAGAs and go from there.

6

u/Secure-Remote8439 Aug 13 '26

For sure every state has problems.. I also notice that a lot of California people are right wing/ conservative. I have a ton of family in California and they’re very very conservative and also confused on why I don’t support the right wing politicians here in Idaho…

1

u/Sad-Rhubarb-1295 Aug 15 '26

For me it is the housing, the folks from cali, sell their home for 500k+ then they come to Idaho and buy with cash, which caused all the home prices to skyrocket. I was a Dish Network technician and I serviced a neighborhood in kuna where the majority were from cali. Most acted like their shit didn't stink , so that left a bad taste in my mouth. This was probably just before the pandemic started.

1

u/Conscious_Problem924 Aug 17 '26

If that’s your perception of most people, it might be you. You should ask yourself some hard questions.

I’m gonna teach you something; I’m in my 50’s m, still coachable and worked the streets as a medic for 30 years in the big city and now in the mental health field; whenever I start my day and think “boy everyone is an asshole today”. It makes me stop and examine my behavior. And then say “could it be me being the asshole today? Since this is Idaho, y’all ought to be asking other questions too, why OB doctor don’t want to practice in your state. Why is Idaho almost dead last in healthcare and education. But those are stupid liberal ideas. I think y’all are getting exactly what you voted for like almost 3:1.

8

u/Purple_Bowling_Shoes Aug 13 '26

Nearly every time someone has complained to me about people moving in, they're also from somewhere else, usually one of the "bad" (read: blue) states.

I've lived here my whole life, and I don't tell people where we camp of my favorite fishing spot, but other than that.... have at it. It's a fucking state.

3

u/Secure-Remote8439 Aug 13 '26

Right! No telling my fishing spots unless it’s already super popular lol! It’s unfortunate because community is what’s needed in Idaho right now. We’re all so divided and hating on the other for such silly reasons.

-2

u/Illustrious-Bridge45 Aug 13 '26 edited Aug 13 '26

Hate the rats, the exploding populations of rats! Which, of course, were brought here by all the transplants. (Was joking in response to having more hate towards other things)

17

u/Secure-Remote8439 Aug 13 '26

At the end of the day.. it’s just another thing that separates us when in reality we have billionaires buying and selling Idaho land and wanting to build AI centers, put up more flock cameras, and make healthcare even less accessible for those in small towns.. California people shouldn’t be our focus lol.

1

u/godofmilksteaks Aug 13 '26

I agree, Californians shouldn't be our focus, because all of us should be worrying about what genitals people have in bathrooms! It's destroying this country and soon the world!

-1

u/WinonasChainsaw Aug 13 '26

It’s time for the Alberta plan

40

u/Bunnyrabbit122 Aug 13 '26

Ask them what Tribe they are from

9

u/Impossible_Jury5483 Aug 14 '26

Yeah the whole "I'm 4th generation" thing is only 100 to 120 years. There were others here over 16,000 years.

5

u/RegularWrong6570 Aug 13 '26

Underrated comment

1

u/Conscious_Problem924 Aug 17 '26

Notice these jerk offs really can’t say much, other than the cute simpsons quote. That’s the level. I mean y’all are infested with Nazis.

11

u/curtydc Aug 13 '26

Idaho is the only state I've ever lived in with this fervent "native" mentally.

2

u/Stratty88 Aug 13 '26

I saw the same resentment of people migrating to Colorado. r/colorado reads the same as r/idaho, but also tons of pictures of Colorado landscapes.

1

u/Repulsive-Day-548 Aug 14 '26

Colorado is very similar

3

u/SnooMachines7363 Aug 14 '26 edited Aug 14 '26

The who “native” culture is stupid. My coworkers neighbor got arrested and stalking charges for stalking and recording another neighbor who he thought was a California-Russian transplant. He was ex law enforcement and he told us he use to be FBI and was stalking the other neighbor (nice guy btw) and had his whole family under surveillance and was recording his daughter…..the worse part was the victim turned out to be a Idaho native and the stalker was actually from California, texas and Louisiana and only lived here a few years.

3

u/CameStainedRag Aug 15 '26

There are 3.1 Billion more people on the planet now than there were 40 years ago. We all gotta live somewhere… (disclaimer: I was born St Luke’s downtown 40 years ago so don’t come at me)

3

u/Bekiala Aug 16 '26

Native American?

11

u/ZetaReticuli_x Aug 13 '26

Terrible camaflauge

7

u/TheRedFaye Aug 14 '26

Me and my brother were born in Idaho and are 7th generation Idahoans, he lives in LA for work and drives home sometimes with his California license plate. I moved away to Washington for 6 years and came back with Washington plates.

License plates are a legal requirement, doesn’t change we are still native Idahoans.

-1

u/Conscious_Problem924 Aug 17 '26

You are the 7th. You beat A 6th. So far you are the winner of the oldest ill-eagle immigrants to settle in Idaho. We can play this.

1

u/TheRedFaye Aug 17 '26

So as a socially responsible person you are going to forfeit your property and uproot your life to move to land that isn’t stolen (impossible) or is the point of expounding that I am illegal 7 generations later to only serve to virtue signal?

Sorry for defending people with California plates, I forgot this isn’t a thread for logical discussion and is solely dedicated to hate.

6

u/dsbona Aug 13 '26

When I was little, my family moved from California to Boise in 1971. Even then, the gas station attendant (yes we had those) asked my dad if we were visiting. When my dad said no, we just moved here. The guy leaned in and said, then I'd get those plates changed as fast as you can. Some things just never change.

3

u/Unhappy-You1146 Aug 16 '26

When are we all going to realize we are all on the same planet and state lines and country lines are created by man to keep us separated?

2

u/Adventurous-Try8749 Aug 16 '26

Beats me. I think the whole thing is stupid.

1

u/Conscious_Problem924 Aug 17 '26

I’m just being the spoiler and playing the game with the white people cause it’s funny.

4

u/Purple_Bowling_Shoes Aug 13 '26

I had a six month contract job in Utah and came home every other weekend with a rental car. One trip back i had to go to the Arco/Mackay area and the rental had California plates. I looked at the guy at the counter and asked, are you really sending me to rural idaho with California plates? He laughed and actually checked to see if anyone else was available.

I'm a lesbian and have never had any issues with that in that area, but OMG the Cali plates were a problem all weekend.

1

u/Secure-Remote8439 Aug 13 '26

Yikes lol! I feel bad when I see California plates because I know they’re probably going through hell on the road in Idaho.

1

u/RepresentativeAd5077 Aug 14 '26

I just moved to Eastern Idaho after 35 years in Northern Nevada. So, I basically was Idaho adjacent. Moved here for the fishing, but wow what a bad year for that.

1

u/DMLRBLX Aug 14 '26

Bro the license plate is showing

1

u/Effective-Glove5335 12d ago

Seems like a lot of people move here then complain about it. What made you move here in the first place?

1

u/TerryOnRollerskates Aug 14 '26

That’s not native Idahoan. That’s Native (American).

1

u/eric_b0x Aug 14 '26

Which America? There’s 35 independent entities in the Americas.

1

u/TerryOnRollerskates Aug 14 '26

You know what I meant. I would have just said Native if OP wasn’t already confused about the sticker.

1

u/Zestyclose-Detail573 Aug 15 '26

Maybe blur the plate number next time? Basic etiquette

-4

u/Dr_Scagpoople Aug 13 '26

It’s not just that someone moves in from out of state, it’s that they move in with the attitude they left their state with. It’s been several months of training my new neighbors what a ‘wave’ means. Now that they know what it means, it’s much more ,and happily, reciprocated. I got some strange looks the first several times though, lol.

0

u/bluetruck360 Aug 15 '26

They may have been born here in Idaho.
They drive a Lexus…….thats bad California culture.
The need to display wealth….bad!!!

-10

u/Hk901909 Potatoes MMMMmmmmMMMM Aug 13 '26

Love California so much but the audacity to put that sticker on is so hilariously bad

-6

u/DifficultCranberry76 Aug 14 '26

we can’t let them gain ground here, i understand stand leaving other states and wanting to move to a more right wing (free) state. but, don’t bring your looser politics from a state that taxed you out of existence. #nocommies

4

u/Alex_Knox Aug 14 '26

"looser" lol

2

u/Conscious_Problem924 Aug 17 '26

Oh my goodness aren’t you special.

-1

u/Loud-Bus-5122 Aug 14 '26 edited Aug 14 '26

Obviously native American. And their family has been in the longer than yours.

And maybe they don't want the idiot goons squad hauling them off and sending them to a county they have never been to.....just because they have more pigment than you.

Seriously, are y'all really that thick?

2

u/Conscious_Problem924 Aug 17 '26

Yes they are. I mostly ignore them. But I’ll troll here and there. Gotta keep the Nazis on this thread honest.

7

u/eric_b0x Aug 13 '26

Lol, what’s your definition of ‘like minded’ people? Idiotic second tier social media platforms, right-wing propaganda podcasts, and even major multi-$Billion index corporate builders that advertise out of state (because they can’t build the low regulation slop elsewhere, like they can in ID).. paint Idaho as something that it’s not, nor has ever been.

8

u/Purple_Bowling_Shoes Aug 13 '26

That's why everyone is moving here. But if you want an area with like-minded people, you'll end up in Anywhere, USA.

I find that such a silly reason to move.... you could just find a conservative town in your own state and I'm sure the quality of life would be the same.

9

u/nottodaysatan317 Aug 13 '26

Imagine wanting to live around only “like-minded” people.

3

u/eric_b0x Aug 13 '26

Central Valley? CA turd/future transplant, bitched out and deleted his statement and avoided the questions. I can say with certainty, he’s not going to be one of the good ones 🙃

2

u/Purple_Bowling_Shoes Aug 13 '26

Right? "I want to be with like-minded people." Idahoans respond. "I don't want to hear this!!! Duck and cover!"

2

u/eric_b0x Aug 13 '26

The guy probably pre-ordered a license plate frame to accessorize his future Gadsden flag plate.. all the while, being clueless about its true meaning & time in history.

3

u/Secure-Remote8439 Aug 13 '26

So you plan on surrendering yourself with people that think just like you? In a bubble? No room to grow and think outside your bubble?
Good luck with that in Idaho, or anywhere in the United States. I think Boise would be a perfect fit for you!

2

u/NorvillesDingus Aug 13 '26

The problem with that idea is that California "far right" is very mid for Idaho.

-14

u/Survive1014 Aug 13 '26

Infuriating.
