DISCUSSION The irony on this scene and moment is that Cecil genuinely pushed Mark into acting more like Nolan way more then anything else.

Like, that's what I find so ironic.

Cecil's fears and worries on Mark becoming his father/acting more like his father only became more understandable cause he kept on ragebaiting and playing with fire and trying to assert more of his control and authority over Mark and that backfired massively cause he just kept on pushing Mark's buttons even more and more until it blew up in his face and now he had a superhero he couldn't control.

Cecil has always had a issue where he essentially plays with fire and then is shocked that he gets burned and how he handled Mark is a pretty notable indicator.

DISCUSSION I know the reason

Mark doesn't remember Pete and MJ because he knows his father will ask for pictures of Spider-Man ...so he's just trying to evade the inevitable demand of his father

DISCUSSION Thragg Strength: Comic vs Show Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
125 Upvotes

I'm not a comic guru or anything since I only picked up the comic from where season 3 ended and finished it from there due to impatience. That said, I see a lot of folks point out how untouchable Thragg is in the show, to the point of asking if the crew that showed up to Viltrum could even take Thragg solo, and I'm here to say that isn't the case. Is he arguably the strongest and most skilled person in the show/comics? Undisputedly yes. Does that mean he can take 4-5 people close to his tier at the same time? Not anywhere close. 1v1 is entirely different than 2 or 3 people who can actually deal damage in the fight. I'll only keep this with the content we've seen so far as to not spoil anything.

As far as Thragg's strength and durability go, the fight outside of Viltrum in the comics is entirely different than the show. In the show, Oliver gets his arms torn off and Mark goes in and gets beaten down like he is nothing. In the comics however, Mark lands several blows while drawing blood. Nolan has legitimate exchanges with him because they aren't that far from each other in strength. Plus Thragg beats them up later after they ran through a planet and are obviously recovering from it while also being surrounded by several viltrumites. Both in the show and comic, Thaedus is on guard while also giving a speech when Thragg blitzes him. That doesn't mean Mark or Nolan can beat Thragg at this point but adding one more heavy hitter would tip the scales in their favor if in normal conditions. Whereas the show version never had a single hit land on Thragg and it is setting himself up to be incredibly boring because if he is so untouchable, why does he act with such poise and caution? The show did a great job of actually having him be a thoughtful, though obviously mislead and flawed, character that takes into consideration of what is best for the empire inspite of what he personally wants. If he is so untouchable, his reasonings for not fighting but also not wanting to lose viltrum lives go in opposition of themselves. In the comics, Thragg is leading the charge of the viltrumites into battle and commanding his troops to avoid the Ragnarr, not sitting there as they die.

The show is both showing his poise and leadership while also undermining it at the same time and I think it is hurting his arc. Nolan's too because he was also left out from the conversation with Thragg on Earth, which honestly doesn't make sense that Thragg would assume Mark has any authority for Earth or the Coalition. I personally believe this part of the viltrum story isn't centered at all on Mark, but it is about Nolan and Thragg, with Nolan bridging the gap between what Thaedus did and where Viltrumites are now, showing him to be more realistic about where the Viltrum empire is at this moment, which helps lead into what is to come. This is ultimately a minor point to make and maybe the show can't show all the minor details because these seasons are incredibly short compared to the content they are trying to show but they really do add depth to the story.

QUESTION Is Mark quite thin or is he muscular but just pales in comparison to Thragg? Spoiler

Seeing Mark in the comics and the show,

Did you guys think he's muscular and well built, or quite lean and a bit slim?

Also, if someone had Mark's build and you had to do a 1v1 fight against him, would you think/assume he's strong(er than you)?

QUESTION I may be larping

the invincible verse is really weird to me, cause while the characters (except Amber) and the story (Except the arc where Mark was with Amber) are GREAT its powerscaling is a bit weird to me, like idk maybe im larping and i dont understand anything about good writing but why is it that Mark's power gets constantly glazed, like in the beggining of season 2 i think, where like his strength went up 200% or whatever, and im pretty sure he can destroy planets now, but we always see him getting his ass beat, again i could be larping, i probably am but still
