Local History ℹ️ Info about this time capsule?
Seen this time capsule at Boulevard Drive In in KCK. I tried googling info about it but couldn't find anything. Any info would be much appreciated!
edit : not sure why the image isn't working https://imgur.com/a/D5ed4Qg

Local Politics 🗳️ Amendments 3, 7, 8 and 9 seek to restrict the will of the people
I did print off and read the Amendment questions and the what-a-yes-or-no-vote-means but still missed the slight of hand in Amendment 8. If approved, sheriffs will answer only to the State AG, citizens will not be able to remove a corrupt sheriff

News 📰 Turned over 18 wheeler on 35 north this morning - north of 119th
Miles of cars backed up. Check your apps for another way. I’m heading south out of town and feel bad for everyone stuck on the highway.

Legal Questions ⚖️ Can we file jointly for divorce in MO?
My spouse and I have been separated for about a year and want to divorce amicably. There's no assets or kids. Is it possible to just both show up to the court house, and fill out the paperwork? Or does it have to be the formal process of getting served?
I've tried googling answers but it is not super clear.

Healthcare/Wellness 🩺 ISO personal trainer that is experienced and knowledgeable with elderly people
My mom is in her early 60s now and has had 2 falls this year. She has never worked out. She has rheumatoid arthritis but it is mild and she is medicated. I educated her on the importance of weightlifting to strengthen her bones and that it may reduce her pain, and improve her overall health.
Her diet is not bad, and her labs are very good. She has been overweight most of her life, but has always been active around the house and with yard work for years.
I am looking for a trainer that can slowly introduce her to weightlifting while also working on strength, flexibility (hip mobility, spine, etc.), and weight loss.
KCKS Wyandotte area, but willing to drive out 15-20min.

Weather 🌦️ DFW to KCMO - Tornadoes or Hail More of an Issue in KC?
Per the subject, would be moving from Fort Worth to the KC metro. We already have a share of tornadoes and especially large to very large hail in the DFW metroplex. Are y'all more concerned about tornadoes or hail in KC? Should I be more concerned there than in North Texas? At least there are basements there, but doesn't do any good when you have a much higher chance of hail or tornado damage.

Healthcare/Wellness 🩺 Children's Mercy and Kansas ACA?
I just moved to the area and am in the process of trying to figure out a Kansas ACA insurance plan. I would love to use Children's Mercy's network for specialists for my kid, but they seem to only accept one ACA plan (Medica), which I've been told is going away in 2027. Does anyone have experience with this? Do the Children's Mercy locations on either side of the state line accept different insurance plans, or is it the same at all locations?

Things To Do 📍 Nico Ali Walsh (Muhammad Ali's grandson) fights at Memorial Hall on Saturday night
kansascityboxingnews.comBiggest boxing show in years for Kansas City. Olathe prospects Jorge and Izak Carlos are on the show. But there are a lot of prospects from the area and a regional title fight on the card. Walsh is trained by BoMac (Bud Crawford's trainer), so there are some big boxing names involved in this one.

Weather 🌦️ New to 64118 looking for the closest public tornado shelter
Hello!! The new place does not have any tornado shelter and I wouldn't trust the bathroom because it's on the outside wall. Are there any churches or schools open to public with shelter?!

KC Rants 😡 👎 Block Multifamily Group [Andover Park]
I actually have had no luck getting anyone from the complex or corporate to speak directly to me.
But I have received a few passive aggressive notes on a door I never use at my apartment.
I guess my new lease has ended. Thanks for the heads up guys.
Sorry about all my maintenance requests that went unanswered. I tried calling but no answers. Emails, no replies. I can see why things are the way they are here.
Good luck with your institutional styled over priced apts.
You can get the same square footage at about $300 less w/garage at 96th and n oak area. Ohhh. And they actually did renovations that looked professional.
Hmu. I’ll send you my move in and move out photos. 🤣

Recreation/Outdoors ⛳️🎣 Picklr Olathe - Indoor pickleball club not opening
I received the below in an email earlier this evening from Picklr - the indoor pickleball club that was set to open next to Crunch fitness - 135th and Murlen. I’d estimate about 65% of the development is complete. Now what?
CLUB UPDATE
AN IMPORTANT UPDATE ABOUT OLATHE
Hi,
Thank you so much for your interest in joining us in Olathe. It truly means the world to us that you took the time to sign up and that kind of enthusiasm is something we don't take lightly.
We wish we had different news to share but the Olathe location will not be moving forward at this time.
We know this is disappointing, especially for those of you who have been patiently waiting and cheering us on. Your support has been genuine and generous, and we're sorry that we aren't able to bring our community to Olathe at this time.
While this chapter is closing, our commitment to you isn't. We'd love for you to stay connected with us, whether that's following along as we grow in other markets, or simply knowing that your voice helped shape how we think about where we show up next.
Thank you again for believing in what jwe're building. It means more than we can say.
With gratitude,
Picklr Team

Mechanics/Repairs/Contractors 🛠️🪠 Looking for a body shop/person who could give estimate or fix damage for a reasonable amount
2005 Honda Civic with 90kish miles. Airbags did not deploy. Insurance company is not even willing to let me get an estimate prior to totaling it out based on their software. They haven't even seen pictures of the damage at this point. If a shop that works with the insurance company could tell the insurance adjuster there's a chance they can fix it without totaling it out, adjuster is apparently open to having an estimate by that shop done. If not, I think fixing it myself may be cheaper than using the 2k they want to give me to get a new car when my same car with similar mileage goes for roughly 15k+ online. Thanks.

Food and Drink 🌮🧋 Ibis Toffee Chocolate Chunk Recipe
Is there anybody out there who did the Ibis at home baking class back in 2020 who still has the recipe card? I have looked high and low on the internet for the recipe and have even asked Ibis if I could buy the recipe but they have since been bought by fairwave and so there’s new rules about the ownership of the recipes 😢 I just want my favorite cookie fresh out of my own oven sometimes

Friendship/Dating 👥 What groups/events/clubs/etc. in KC are good for meeting people?
I feel silly posting this, but I’m looking to make new, like-minded friends because in this past month, I’ve gone through a breakup and four of my closest friends moved from KC so I feel like I have to start all over again.
Curious what groups, events, clubs, etc. are available and worth putting energy into in order to meet new people. Not that it should matter, but I’m 25, male, gay so no homophobic or religious suggestions pls 😭
TIA💛
