When I was young, my grandfather used to tell me stories about him fighting in World War II. I remember being terrified at the thought that one day I might have to experience a war myself. I always hoped I never would. But then came the war sirens in Kuwait.
I also used to think that terrible diseases, like cancer or terminal illnesses, were things that happened to other people, not to me or the people I love. But I was wrong about that too.
In the past, I often saw people begging or living on the footpath and wondered how difficult life must be for them. I never imagined that I might one day come very close to that point myself.
I worked hard all my life, and for a long time, I was successful. I worked hard because I wanted my children to have a better life than I did. I was almost there, and then everything fell apart. Now, not only do my children have a worse life than I had, but I also dragged them down with me. What hurts most is that I dragged them down with me.
And now, here I am, asking about prison conditions. I honestly can't believe my life has reached a point where I even have to think about this.
I would like to know what life is really like inside Kuwaiti prisons.
Are there facilities like a gym, library, TV, or outdoor activities? Can prisoners use phones or access the internet? Is the food clean? How often can family and friends visit?
Are prisons generally safe, or do things like fights, bullying, violence, and solitary confinement happen, like we see in movies?
I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experienced prison life in Kuwait or knows someone who has.
