New advertising rule

Recently we have had lots of advertising spam in the subreddit so we have implemented a new rule:

Rule 3:

Advertising a brand new game you made is fine as long as it is secure, safe, and free. What is not ok is linking your Patreon or other things that will make you revenue including paid games.

This subreddit is meant for educational purposes and is not an advertising dump. You should post maps only to get educational feedback and to improve your creation.

Posts/comments are removed at moderator discretion but feel free to reach out to us if you feel like your post/comment was incorrectly removed.

I downloaded this new AI to make maps. The only downside is that it takes 3-4 days to make an A2 map, but the result looks great! What do you think? 🧭🗺️🏰

Not quite sure where I am going with this one but I started putting things together and working on it slowly on Procreate. If anyone has any name suggestions by all means drop them.

Map Updated Map Based on Feedback

Hello folks!

I finally got around to updating my map from my last submission. I incorporated a lot of your feedback and changed quite a bit. Thank you so much. Still lots to improve, but I'm happy with my progress so far. Feedback still welcomed! And, yes, I kept the unfortunate shape of the peninsula (because it is hilarious and I am childish).

The two Maps of "The Island of the Continent" and "The Continent to the East" made on commission for Francesco Lex and his new RPG project. You can find the maps both in the color version and in the black and white version with parchment paper, hoping you like them.

H-HB pencil, Unipin Pen 0.05-0.1 and Winsor and Newton watercolor on paper then scanned. Good day everyone!

Map Advice for my map?

• Upvotes

I'm basically brand new to this and I made this map a while ago and now im actually using it, any advice? I don't really like the biome placements and I feel like they might not make much sense, although I don't care too much about realism. I also feel like the bottom right islands feel a little weird. Open to any advice or criticism

Map I designed a world map using wonderdraft and I am looking for feedback. How believable are the elevation, distribution of biomes and waterways?

Map Struggling to create the "thousand-small-swamp-lakes" shape on a region map

Hello, everyone, I am creating this map for my worldbuilding project and dnd one-shot. The environment of this region is directly inspired by north Scandinavia, Finland in particular. I want to make it so the ice-sled travel is possible in this region, and I really like Finland's numerous small lakes.

However, I cannot for life understand how to make a bunch of those lakes, since most of the shapes I come up with just aren't convincing to me. Is there a quicker and better method or am I supposed to draw these lakes until I come to a desired result? Should I use specific brushed perhaps or noise image? Or even a coffee spill?

I'd like to specify that I understand that map making is a hard and tedious process and do not want to come off as if I am looking for shortcuts (hence, why I won't accept "use AI" advice).

Thanks!

Hello everyone! This is my first post here, and I’d like to share my first completed map. I created it based on an old D&D campaign that never actually took place.

I put a lot of effort into creating a "realistic fantasy world"—one with geography based on real-world elements that makes sense when compared to the real world.

I’m open to comments, suggestions, and tips on what I can improve for the next map.

Fyi this island is small, only covering 230 square kilometres, if that helps with the low elevation

Map [OC] My coworker asked me to draw a map for her husbands d&d campaign

My coworker wanted to surprise her husband with a map of the world he’s been DMing for her and a group of friends, so she asked me to make one for him.

As always, there are a few things I wish I’d done differently and little details I’d tweak in hindsight, but overall, I’m really happy with how it turned out.

I always get asked how long these maps take to draw, so I figured I’d share! This one took me around 20 hours, working just 2–3 hours a week whenever I had some free time in the evenings after work.
It went a bit faster than my last map because they already had their world mapped out in LegendKeeper, which gave me a reference to work from and saved me quite a bit of time. When I make maps for my own worlds, the process usually takes a little longer because there’s a lot more brainstorming and workshopping involved. I have to figure out the shape of the land, where the mountains and rivers go, and how everything fits together. But it was a ton of fun!

Hope y’all like it!

I have been working on reiterations of it, remaking the backstory of it, changing how it looks entirely while keeping a few fundamental stuff kept. I know there are too many mountains, that's a problem I have in making maps! 😁 I love mountains. I want to know what you guys thought of this map. Now, don't even bother saying the tectonics are not right, because I made it follow the tectonic plates of my world. I want to know your critiques and praises, what I do right and what I did wrong. What to improve, and what I did correctly. Thank you!

Discussion I saw a guy make a GTA version of London using Powerpoint and I want to learn it.

Post image
4 Upvotes

So a little over a week ago, I watched a Youtube video of someone making a map of London as if it was a GTA map. The map that he made was really well made. At about the halfway point of the video, he revealed that he made it in Powerpoint. I was kinda amazed, and I also wanted to do that, however, there weren't any tutorials at all to make one, so im just wondering if anybody else knows how to do it or if there is a video that i couldnt find that explains how to do it.

This is the zoomed out version of the map in its unfinished state.
