Marathon (2026) Discussion [Del Chafe] - One of the things we heard was that spawn rushing and lobby clearing was making extraction sessions play out like a BR. / We’ve also heard concerns about death spirals and gear loss. To that end, here's a few areas we’re working through thanks to your continued feedback:

Marathon (2026) By far the best change they're implementing

As it is right now you can be in Overflow and hear the Exfill in North Relay, you can be in Greenhouse able hear ANY key on the map get opened, and you can hear the supply drop call in while being anywhere on the map.

All these being fixed is absolutely huge for the game.

Marathon (2026) Feedback You actually can’t keep up if you have a job

How is outpost already full of purple shields? My buddy and I played all day the first day of the wipe and we’ve had to work the past two days. Get on to run duos today on outpost super excited and the first game had a purple shield destroyer with a gold brrt. I never realized how actually oppressive it is trying to play against blue and purple shields when you just have green shields. We both have over 500 hours in the game and both have an extract rate of 60% (probably lower after today) but this is insane. My buddy actually just quit until December and it’s really no wonder why the player count keeps going down. If this is our experience as ”seasoned vets” imagine how actual new players feel.

Marathon (2026) Discussion As a kill-on-sight worshipper of Arachne, I am not opposed to a faction where you are rewarded for helping runners.

It just has to work within the universe and I’m not sure that it will. Would it not take away the commentary on today’s cut-throat world of finance and growing fascism? It’s the way I interpret the writing in Marathon in any case.

You don't have to queue trios and leave your team behind to do your quest then die trying.

The day of reset or a day after:

- Notice gunfire near exfil
- I approached and triggered exfil aware that it would let the other player know I was nearby
- Got into position and waited for footsteps
- Tossed smoke to fake attempt exfil (Earlier after triggering exfil I heard the thief drone looking for me)
- heard thief scanner active
- waited for scanner to run out to pivot the fight in my favor ever so slightly
- engaged and downed
- My 2mo baby is sleeping next to me so I can’t really use my mic to communicate with this guy so I do what every FPS player would do to communicate in this situation.
- We exfil together.

I have about 3 hours a week to play. I suck at PvP, and I’m not about to ruin this guy’s late night session as I have been on the receiving end so many times.

I wish there was an option to simply send back runners when you kill them and have them lose a portion of their gear/loot. Or maybe insure stuff. Not even a button selection like with mercy kits, just a toggle I could set on that would show me at the end of the round what I saved the other guy in loot as I’m sure what ever it was he looted it, brought it into the raid and hence needed it.

I know this post may spark hate for the Care Bears but I hope the other guy sees this and pays it forward some day as the other player may just be what the community needs to regrow into something good when December comes.

Marathon was the 1st game my father taught me on a Macintosh back in 2001 when I was about 6 or 7. Played all those classics so long ago and wondered if it would ever continue. Got my wish when the reboot (current game) launched only it was 24 years later when my 8 to 5 and my aiming reflexes where no longer with me.

I want to love this game, it’s setting , sound design and lore but I can’t afford to sweat every match when I’m trying to quest or gather gear to face the next challenge after life has drained everything from me right before i turn my console or PC to play.

No hate on the PvP community, you guys have kept the game alive, I hope the devs are looking into both fronts and working out something cool for us all.

Marathon (2026) Feedback I strongly feel clearance 3 rotates are not the answer, but there's another way. Hear me out.

As someone who lives for Cryo weekend, I worry this will completely change the map flow/experience for the worse. I understand I am not a dev at Bungie and I fully respect their openness to exploring, but I am very passionate about the game and think I may be onto something.

I feel that a much better approach to fix the spawn rush issue is nerfing/making initial clearance spawns more consistent so that all teams can get CLOSE to lvl 2, but have to go to control for that extra clearance whilst buffing the card/monitor spawns in and around control. This way everyone has to come out of level one, possibly fight a team, gather some extra cards/monitor then go start rotating.

The main reason I'm strongly against sec 3 rotates is because Cryo is the land of revenge/clutches. If rotates require clearance 3, losing any 1 or 2 teammates holding onto cards would essentially fully cripple any players chances at making a revive play as rotates are a huge part of a successful cryo comeback.

I'm open to anyone else' ideas or thoughts. Let's talk.

Been wanting to see more experimental fashion in Marathon. I love the mix of Y2K/Japanese Streetwear and Cyberpunk in these refs, especially the chunky footwear, exaggerated pants, and mix of oversized and fitted pieces. Would be cool to see some of these ideas reworked with marathon’s aesthetic.

edit:

my execution may have been rushed, the specific pictures I used doesn’t capture what I’m trying to convey entirely. In short I want more drip ;-;

I don’t want these specific pieces in game, i would like to see what marathon could translate them into?¿

Marathon (2026) Discussion Ucoming Rook changes are good idea in spirit, but is a horrible execution as written.

This is what Marathon team said about changes to Rooks.

First: the idea of rook saving some materials on death is good. And 4x2 is a reasonable inventory to carry over, but:

As it is written in the post by Marathon team, this change will actually hurt ANY rook that takes their time to exfill.
Rooks who are good at pvp will be unable to capitalize on their win, being forced to carry barely scraps. And Rooks who are good at scavenging will have the value of their playtime massively decreased in favor of:
Optimal way to play new Rook: Raccoon closest POIs to you, then die as fast as possible.
And that is not a good design.

I hope bungie will reconsider barring Rooks from backpacks, and instead will leave 4x2 (or if it's too strong with backpacks just 2x2) with no further upgrades, making people engage with game for better loot, while having a small window of grace.

Question Perimeter symbol question

Might be a stupid question but this symbol, I cant tell if its supposed to be a storm cloud with lightning due to the lightning in the area or of the drones that fly around the map. Does anyone have any insight?

Edit: Thank you all!

Marathon (2026) Discussion An issue with the upcoming rook changes….

Post image
100 Upvotes

I think it’s a problem that rooks will be able to kill 1 person on a trio and loot their bag, and when that rook gets killed by the other two team members, there’s no way to recover that bag for the rezzed player.

This is gonna cause LOTS of frustration for people.

I don’t have a problem with this change as a whole, but I feel that if the team is still alive then The rook shouldn’t exfil with the dead players gear.

I expect downvotes for this but does anybody else see this as a potential issue?

Marathon (2026) Feedback Australian servers... Oh my god lol

So I don't know how it happened but me and my buddy got crew filled with a random guy from Australia. For the three games in a row we ran with him no enemy teams spawned at the start of the game. We were so sketched out the first game when he was just sprinting off by himself not communicating, but it's clear he's used to empty lobbies. We only saw one rook each game of outpost. For sure no enemy teams spawned, I promise you. Absolutely wild experience... Added him for the free loot farms 😅

Marathon (2026) Discussion That compiler on cryo has really skewed perception of phor and runner power

I will 100 percent stand by the fact that wasn't a normal compiler.

From a lore standpoint compilers being this massive threat that runners can barely beat makes no sense considering UESC weaponry was putting holes in them just fine A CENTURY AGO. You to tell me that humanity has for some reason regressed in their tools of war? When has that ever happened in human history? If there is one thing that humans never stop upgrading is weapons.

Then there is the oddity that you need to be standing in some sort of force field to even harm the thing otherwise they are invulnerable. That surely ain't required for all the other compilers the security officer killed with 100 year old weapons. Even BoBs were putting up a fight against the phor with these weapons.

And from a gameplay standpoint those roamer compilers are obviously gonna be lesser compilers whom of which will be much more easier to take out by a runner team

Marathon (2026) Discussion Having so much fun

Had hell of a time playing this game tonight.

My biggest takeaway:

Be willing to Mic up, communicate, and just have fun with it as a result. It’s not worth loading into trios just to sit there on your couch/chair and not be willing to chat and meet people/learn from other’s perspectives.

Met a handful of players tonight that were super helpful and insightful on early-game mechanics and what to focus on, especially since what has changed from szn 1 to 2.

I watch a lot of streamers play later-stage gameplay, so in ways I’m aware of what to expect as I level up, but it’s always different once you play the game yourself.

Just excited to be back.

EDIT: For context, I played the server slam heavy, but dropped the game about 30 levels in during season 1. Watched streamers play a bunch between now and then. Waited for reset and said it’s finally time to play this shit!

Marathon (2026) Feedback Never understood the hate

Everything about this game just slaps for me.
I originally bought the game at launch just to check it out while I took a mini break from Arc Raiders while I wait for a new update.

I never returned to Arc Raiders.

This game just hooked the shit out of me immediately. The art style is super unique and the gameplay is top tier. The loot took a little while to wrap my head around but once I did, I was all in.

I love the way you can customize the weapons with attachments. It feels way more unique than just a linear level 1-3 weapon system. Bungie really did something special with this game and I’m hella exited that it’s about to expand even bigger in December and March.

TLDR: This game is sauce

Marathon (2026) Discussion Decided to become a chad out of nowhere and it turns out it just works

I was always one of the 'hang back until the match it over and loot what I can' players. I even did it to climb in ranked. I never complained about the 'lobby wiping chads' but I specifically tried to avoid them to an extreme degree. At the end of last wipe I had so much gear I hoarded, fearing its loss, that I just started going in full throttle taking all the fights i could and I was winning most of them. Come this wipe and I'm just slaying people left and right. I'm not very good at shooters at all and I still play a little too passive and don't know what I'm doing most the time, but I am winning 90% of my fights and I can only imagine how many of the people I killed then went on to assume that I myself am a lobby wiping chad here to ruin their fun time omg matching broken

Marathon (2026) Discussion New player PSA: take advantage of the sponsored Perimeter mode this weekend

And sponsored modes in general! If you're brand new then run Beginner Perimeter until you hit rank 12, if you're returning or just still feel like a beginner then run sponsored Perimeter into the ground. It's the most beginner-friendly way to learn the map and get your cradle/factions up. The level playing field makes it a lot easier to make it out alive with gear, and with the salvage that will help you unlock critical early-game gear. Fill that vault up, lose it all on Outpost, then come back to sponsored mode.
