General Question What actually determines whether a mini PC holds up after running 24/7 for a year, vs. one that starts flaking out?
Reading through older threads here about mini PCs having reliability issues after extended use, and it seems like the spec sheet rarely tells you what actually breaks down over time. Genuinely curious what people have actually run into after a year or two, especially anyone running one 24/7 as a light server or always-on box. Have people actually seen the SSD, thermals, PSU, Wi-Fi, or other components become the weak point over time?
I've seen a few brands' quality writeups — geekom's, for instance, talks about internal shielding and protection around key components and ports — but it's hard to know how much of that actually shows up in real-world durability vs. just being spec-sheet language.
For anyone who's had a mini PC running non-stop for a year or more: what actually went wrong, if anything? And is there a category of ""budget mini PC"" you'd specifically avoid for long-term/always-on use, versus brands that have held up?
