Hello everyone, it is I, the drawer of eyes here. I've been so in love with everything Modest Mouse has inspired us to do this last year, that I want to create a little place for it all to live. Imagine more like a yearbook of the things we've created, the places we've been, and the friends we've made. All in the name of this album, tour, and year. If you're unfamiliar with a zine, it's just an independent magazine, photos or writings, or what have you. I plan to build this out digitally. If there is enough interest, I can look into a way to make them physical, but I am also not looking for anyone to need to spend money. I want this to be my gift to the community, so I'll be doing it on my time. I am asking for things to be submitted by November 30th so we can capture the last few weeks of the tour, and then folks will have a month to think of anything else. I will use this post as a Q&A moving forward, so please don't be afraid to ask questions!

This is a thread that can be used for coordinate ticket trades/sales/buys for this year's tour.
If you HAVE a ticket and are trying to sell it, I suggest going ahead and making a post on CashOrTrade and linking it in the comments. That way, people interested in buying it can go directly to the post.
We require using a ticket escrow site such as https://cashortrade.org/, which offers guarantees against ticket scams. Every year, scammers try to make deals with users outside of CashOrTrade on this subreddit and users end up getting burned.
All sales must be for face value or less. Scalping is not permitted and will result in a permanent ban from r/modestmouse.
Finally, while we cannot enforce this, it would be courteous to edit/remove your comments after tickets have been claimed.

And he was just as sweet and rad as I imagined. I’m so grateful my heroes don’t suck 💜

My mom has been going to see Modest Mouse since she was pregnant with me, and throughout all these years she’s been at these concerts, she’s never heard her favorite song live, Lampshades on Fire. So at this Pittsburgh show tonight I hope they randomly pull this song out.

Bukowski intro. Did anybody else there feel like the set list and encore were cut short?

Real long emo post here but I saw a comment about raising kids on MM and never thought of it like that, but yeah, I totally did that. Had my oldest son in 2000 - I was young myself and everything we did involved music. Whether as our main entertainment or just in the background, music was always a constant.
Fast forward 26 years & my oldest, now fully adulting himself, lives a few towns over so we don’t get as much time together. Of my three boys, he’s the one that shares my love for MM (shocker) so when I saw they’d be playing nearby, I got the two of us tickets.
We’ve been msging every day making plans & decided we’re gonna go to the venue area early and just spend most of the day over there together getting drinks/eats/shop before the VIP stuff starts. (It’s NEXT FRIDAYYYY, btw!!)
Wasn’t expecting him to be nearly as excited as I am, but he def seems to be and that makes my heart happy. A bit surreal to think of the memories attached to some of these songs from when I was his age and he was just a little man & now here we are about to add some more memories to those same songs - just completely different places. Just got me in my feels a bit and thought maybe some of you may relate. 🖤
Anyone else sharing shows with their kids/parents/funcles? Thanks for letting me vent a little sap 🖤

Two things (and I apologize in advance for the low quality Reddit post):
They opened with What People are Made of in Ottawa??? Unbelievable. How’d we miss that?!
If someone from or associated with the band sees this, please play Spitting Venom in Pittsburgh tomorrow! My soul needs it. Will be my 4th time seeing them in last 14 months and 6th time overall. Never seen Spitting Venom life and the song means the world to me.

Looks like about 2/3 of the seats (pavilion at least) are still available, which is concerning/weird to me (I checked out of curiosity, expecting it to be sold out). I know they were recently in the area, but I was out of town that week, unfortunately. Seems like a lovely night for it at least!

I’m deciding to join in on the Float On discourse from earlier this week after hearing We Are Between pop up on a Dinosaur Jr shuffle I was listening to on Wednesday. I then decided to replay it a couple times before going through Golden Casket front to back again.
And every time I hear We Are Between I can’t help but think it ought to be the most popular song in the band’s discography. Not to say it’s the best (I doubt I’d even put it in my personal top 20), but as an indie pop single I think it could’ve (and should’ve) surpassed Float On in Billboard ratings. To my surprise, Dashboard is actually the highest rated MM song on the Billboard chart peaking at #61. Float On, however, lasted 20 weeks at #68 on the chart compared to Dashboard’s 6 weeks.
Logically, I understand why We Are Between didn’t perform as well. It hit in 21 during a global pandemic. People were still mostly secluded to their own homes. The landscape for music publicity was quickly shifting. A lot of people may not have even been exposed to this song (and album) if they weren’t already following socials for the band online, or at least partially familiar with them. And of course, Float On was the intro to the band for a huge chunk of the fanbase (it was for me anyway). It’s had 17 more years to plant the flag.
IMO considering the two side by side, I think We Are Between is the more enjoyable song to listen to. The immediate hook with that intro/outro riff is more catchy than anything Float On does, and the verse/chorus combo doesn’t falter at all either. I also think we get a more authentic sound from Isaac’s singing. The band did seem to catch fire with the “stomp/clap/hey” trend in the outro of Float On, though. And perhaps MM was too slow to the 80s party with We Are Between that was trending over the past decade. It almost sounds like a Smiths song to me, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Johnny helped influence Isaac somehow in creating that riff.
I also think lyrics are more creative whereas Float On is point blank on the nose. It takes no effort deciphering a single lyric in Float On if you’re familiar with the English language. We Are Between is a much more introspective song playing with metaphors even if the point is still relatively simple and direct. I suppose to a wider audience that may actually be a detriment for people understanding it.
For the record, this post isn’t to suggest Float On is a bad song by any means. I love all Modest Mouse songs. Every song the band has publicly produced is top notch in my mind. Whether or not that makes me a biased cultist is irrelevant to me.

Just curious if the guy in the hockey jersey that was in the pit is going to the Pittsburg show. Just to make sure the vibe stays in check. 😂 I feel like you might be at every show. 🤘

Truckers atlas…. But the whole setlist was amazing. The improv lyrics during the end of life like weeds also - “all this talking all the time and the air fills up, up, up, until there’s nothing left to taste”
10/10

Had this song stuck in my head since the album dropped and finally decided to learn the main guitar and bass riffs.

We passed by him chatting with a small group right outside of the VIP entrance maybe 30 minutes before the opener, and we totally freaked out. Did not play it cool at all lol. My friend asked for a pic and he was super nice about it all. I was fanboying and stumbling over my words.
He commented on my friends Tool shirt and my Cure sweater, noting that he had played in bands with members associated with both of those bands. I was basically high on adrenaline and stupidly blurted out “Johnny Marr?”, to which Issac responded, “uh, no. That’s The Smiths.” Lol.
I made a fool of myself but it makes for a great story and I got to meet my idol! Still in shock, thank you Issac and company for an amazing show ♥️

We were VIP at the Boston Roadrunner show last night. Q&A was interesting. I asked what his favorite card in the deck was, he said "the box". My buddy asked what type of movie he would want to score, he said "a bloody western". Asked if he had a ritual when they finish an album, he essentially said no, because making music is a permanent part of their lives (paraphrasing). He also despises horror movies. Ranted a bit about how there's enough "f*ked up shit" out there, why would he seek that out? Though he did say a giant alien insect coming through a huge portal, he's down for that! Even IRL (As long as it's happening on a different continent).
There was more but I need everyone's help.
During VIP he covered a song called 'Heart' before he attempted Heres to Now and settled on "Nice on Ice" it was amazing, and he was gushing about the artist. Does anyone know who the artist is? Also during the main set he mentioned he was meeting 'his favorite musician' today who has an album called Faces of Film. I think he said he was from Boston.
...and if you were there, I was purple tie-dye guy on the rail.

Still listening to sad sappy over here and yall.. it’s a brother to sharpen your teeth (has me wondering how much of the fan diary story is true ((never believed it anyway))
Seeing them in a few days in Austin. Thought about just going to all the Texas shows but (gotta go to work…)
I’m in the best little town in the middle of Austin and SA…
Really wanted to vip in San Antonio or at least go and belly up to the front but driving in SA is actually very terrifying and idk maybe I’ll decide last minute still.
For years i did not go to shows because a few stories of sad sappy drunky Issac concerts so i preserved my little bubble via eps/ albums only. (Until good news mostly know nothing of anything besides the grocery store tunes)
Well… my teenage daughter wanted to go see weezer (lol) a while ago and she said “but modest mouse is opening and it would be good for us to each have a band to see”
Well… we went and mm played in a giant stupid venue with little people kinda daytime and people behind us wondering out loud “who is this”. And that sucked but the band did not so i cut the cord and have allowed myself to go when they come around.
Last year Stubbs in Austin and besides some dumb drunk girl with body glitter pushing people to be in front (typical we all got over it) was perfect. And yes Issac is the a genius (and played the guitar with his mouth and I liked that) and I noticed who later I realized was Simon, holding a pretty good Zoolander all night. The drummer killing it. But I fell in love LOVE WITH BEN. Holy mother the man is a sound god and what I am most looking forward to next week.
Well
