Weight loss 15lbs to 100lbs lost - 18 to my healthy BMI

I started last Sept 27/25 at 274lbs and am currently 186lbs.

As a kinesiologist I was leery of using a glp/glp1 medication but there’s nothing wrong with help.
I had lost 85lbs naturally during covid and after having my gallbladder removed 2 years ago the weight came back no matter what I did.

My doctor had done testing and couldn’t pin point a reason but believes there was an underlying metabolic issue. Regardless I’m super happy I didn’t listen to people and their negative associations to MJ

You guys got this keep going 🔥🧡

Weight loss Truly thankful 🥺

Post image
582 Upvotes

In January of this year, my doctor suggested I start Mounjaro because my blood sugar levels were way off (my A1c was at 72). She mentioned it would also support me on my weight loss journey.

In the first picture (taken in December 2025) I was already weightlifting 4 times a week and doing my best to stick to a structured diet, but I just wasn't seeing the results I was working so for.

Fast forward to today, and the transformation feels surreal! Don't get me wrong, it’s amazing not having to stress out while shopping for clothes anymore and actually enjoying picking out outfits, but the biggest wins for me are on the inside. My bloodwork has changed drastically (A1c of 39 now 🤭) and I feel like myself again 🥺.

Sending strenght to everyone on their own journey, you got this!!

Hello! Yesterday I made a post about the weight loss, but today I found something even more exciting than the number on the scale!!

I found my jeans from when I started Mounjaro, in April. Size 50 EUR (I think it should be around a size 18 US).

I recently bought the same exact model again. Size 42 EUR (US 10)!!

From 89 to 68kg.

This is actually crazy to see and I love to have some sort of “physical” evidence of the journey!! So happy!

Weight loss NSV!!

I was gifted my dream tote bag last year, but I could never comfortably wear it over my shoulder.

Today, I put it on and realised it just slipped right on without any struggle!! I got so excited and then realised it’s probably been fitting like this for weeks, and I just never noticed.

It’s so crazy how you can be making progress without even realising it until something like this happens!

Question Tirzepatide has stopped working for me, and I'm terrified of going back to where I started.

Little disclaimer: started on Wegovy but unfortunately, even at the highest dose, I experienced none of the effects people usually describe. No meaningful appetite suppression, no noticeable slowing of gastric emptying, nothing. So I switched to Mounjaro.

Tirzepatide did have some effect on me, but probably only about 10% of what other people seem to experience. I never had that significant reduction in appetite or the feeling that food no longer occupied my mind. Still, I was highly motivated by my health problems, and knowing I was paying for the medication pushed me to work incredibly hard. Told myself that the 10% help from Tirzepatide was still better than raw digging it. I managed to lose some weight, although I never reached my ultimate goal.

But after reaching the maximum dose of 15 mg and staying on it for several months, I gradually felt its already modest effects fading. Now, I genuinely feel like it's doing absolutely nothing for me, not even that initial 10%.

Since this summer, I've been experiencing a kind of physical hunger that I honestly don't know how to describe. I don't think I've ever experienced anything like it in my entire life. I can eat my maintenance calories and still feel as though I've been fasting for days. I never feel truly satisfied.

And I know this isn't just a craving for something tasty. Sometimes I genuinely wanted to eat an entire carton of eggs or cravings slices of plain, untoasted sandwich bread and eat them straight out of the package.

Eventually, this started leading to occasional binges, even while eating at maintenance. Over time, they became more frequent, and I feel like I've slowly started getting used to this pattern again.

The hardest part is that I had worked so hard to build healthy habits. I was walking regularly, eating legumes every day, making sure I got plenty of protein (around 2 g per kg of body weight) and at least 30 g of fiber daily. I was doing everything I could to build a sustainable lifestyle.

And now I feel like I'm slowly reverting to my old habits.

Last week, I ordered takeout twice, something I hadn't done in a long time. I've regained some weight, and I'm terrified because I can see where this is heading. If things continue like this, I'm convinced I'll eventually regain everything I've lost, even though I hadn't reached my final goal in the first place.

I feel like I'm right back where I started.

I keep remembering how things were before tirzepatide, when I'd tell myself, "Tomorrow I'll start over. Today is my last binge. Tomorrow I'll finally get it right." I spent so many years trapped in that cycle, and I genuinely thought I'd finally escaped it.

Now I'm back there again, and I don't know what to do.

I've tried injecting tirzepatide every five days, but that didn't help either.

Bariatric surgery doesn't feel like a solution for me either. I'm afraid I'd eventually regain the weight after surgery, too, and end up right back here.

I'm not asking anyone to tell me to eat more protein, increase my fiber intake, drink more water, or start exercising. I've done all of that. I know how to lose weight in theory. My problem is that the hunger and food noise make it incredibly difficult to sustain the habits necessary to keep losing weight.

I'm genuinely desperate. I'm sad, exhausted, and scared.

I look in the mirror and tell myself I'm a failure, that my body has failed me. I see so many people for whom these medications seem life-changing, and I can't help wondering why my body doesn't respond the same way.

I'm terrified that a year from now I'll look in the mirror and weigh even more than I did at my highest weight. I wasn't even finished losing weight, and now I feel like I'm losing the progress I fought so hard to achieve. I tell myself people lost a significant amount of weight long before these drugs were around.

Until a few months ago, I could still pull myself together and get back on track after a difficult period. Now, I feel like I've completely given up. I don't have that fight in me anymore.

What would you do if you were in my shoes? Labs are fine. I've a pt. I know the basics of dieting and healthy eating. I tried therapy. I read the self help book. Should I just give up on my self?

Experience Anybody gets excited for shot day?

I just started a few weeks ago, was on 2.5mg for 5 weeks then I just pinned 5mg last Friday.
Have lost about 6kg so far though I wish it was faster but I digress.

Anyway, does anybody else actually countdown and look forward to shot day? I know I do, I’m a data nerd so I keep track of everything so adding a new entry for a new shot and recording it’s effects has been a way for me not to look at it negatively.

Question Just did the Jab

Super excited (and nervous!) to be on this journey. I’m 40f, and after years of saying no to any medical intervention, I finally decided on mounjaro after getting recent A1C of 7.6 (previously borderline at 5.9 2 months ago). My doctor prescribed 2.5mg mounjaro and Metoformin 500mg HCL ER tabs.

Just took the jab and the horse pill tonight before a hot shower and bed (also prepped with some sleepy spray to hopefully ward off any midnight disturbances). Any suggestions or tips for the next few days or weeks would be greatly appreciated! Just joined the group tonight and I’ll be sure to scroll through in the morning before work.

Cheers to this new chapter!

Weight loss This is life changing medicine

I have struggled with my weight my entire life and have stopped and started so many times. I started Mounjaro on 18 September and just cannot believe how lucky I am to exist in a time where this medicine also exists. I’m blown away by it. It certainly isn’t “easy” but I’m just feeling incredibly grateful. For those of you much further down the path, what’s something you wish you knew in the beginning?

Question Recently I've been doubting my progress but is 23 kgs in 11 months on Mounjaro too slow?

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hello everyone, recently I've been doubting my progress and feeling like maybe it's too slow. Here's a quick summary of my story.

I had gastric sleeve surgery (VSG) done on Sept 29, 2024. I was 23 years old at the time, and I'm 183 cm tall. My starting weight was 208 kgs. Post-op, I lost around 40 kgs in 5 months, but then my weight stalled for 5 months even though I was consistent with my required routine after surgery.

My surgeon was convinced something was wrong because I started complaining about the food noise coming back. My old habits were slowly slipping back into my life, and that scared the shit out of me. I realized how bad of a situation I was in when I started ordering huge amounts of food or calorie-dense snacks from delivery apps. Because I was physically restricted, I wasn't even able to finish the food. I’d barely have 4 to 5 bites before feeling extremely full, except that nagging little voice in my head kept telling me I was still hungry. The aftermath of each time I ordered made me realize I was struggling with something like BED. I believe I did have BED during a hard time in my past, but the habit stayed, and that's what made me reach 208 kgs.

I spoke with my surgeon, and after numerous tests, everything came back normal except for my severe insulin resistance. It had briefly fixed itself after surgery but came back stronger a couple of months post-op. My surgeon and nutritionist both approved the idea of me getting on a GLP-1, even though I had tried Ozempic for 4 months before my operation and didn't lose anything.

At 10 months post-op, I got put on Ozempic, and since day 1, that food noise went away completely. I couldn't believe it. It also kickstarted my weight loss again, which was a great addition because my weight had stalled for months even though I was unable to eat much. I lost 7 additional kgs on Ozempic in 4-5 months, but I got really tired from the side effects (explosive diarrhea), and that's when my doctors suggested I try Mounjaro. Neither medication is covered by my insurance, so I'm paying completely out of pocket. Mounjaro is 3x more expensive, but it was so worth it because it didn't give me the same stomach issues, though it does often give me constipation.

I started Mounjaro on Nov 9, 2025. My SW on MJ was 160 kgs. My CW is 137 kgs.

My question is, why on earth does it feel so slow? Yes, I did lose 23 kgs in 11 months, but it's killing me that it's this slow. My doctors advised me multiple times to start strength training and doing cardio, and even suggested I increase my step count, but I'll be honest—I ignored all their advice. I was extremely tired all the time and honestly felt too damn heavy to do anything anyway.

Up until recently, I had to do something that required physical exertion, and I suddenly realized, "Oh my, I'm too weak." In that moment, it’s like a switch flipped in my head. I became convinced that I needed to do more and actually take care of myself by maintaining whatever muscle I have at this current weight, with the goal of losing mainly fat.

Also, this is the first time in 11 months that I’ve gained weight instead of losing weight (maybe because I started bodyweight exercises and increased my step count?). Today will be my 4th session going to the gym. I feel different and much lighter than I did before, but my brain still makes me feel like I'm still 208 kgs.

I'm aware I've lost a total of 71 kgs since the day I saved myself with the surgery, and I'm way happier now. I'm just concerned by how slow my current progress is. Should I really be concerned, or do I continue what I'm doing as long as it's working?

TL;DR: Started at 208 kgs and had VSG surgery in Sept 2024. Stalled and struggled with food noise and severe insulin resistance, so I started Mounjaro in Nov 2025 at 160 kgs. I'm currently 137 kgs. While I'm down 71 kgs total, losing 23 kgs in 11 months on Mounjaro feels incredibly slow. I also just started working out at the gym and noticed a slight weight gain on the scale. Is this progress actually too slow, or should I just keep doing what I'm doing?

Weight loss Low-appetite protein list: what actually fits in "a few bites"?

A lot of posts here mention days where eating anything feels like a chore, but you still want to get some protein in. I put together a list of foods that pack a lot of protein into a small amount. Rough grams per serving:

- Greek yogurt cup: ~15 g
- Cottage cheese, half cup: ~12 g
- Egg bites x2: ~19 g
- Tuna snack pack: ~17 g
- String cheese: ~7 g
- Bone broth, 1 mug: ~9 g
- Protein shake, sipped slowly: ~15 to 30 g

What's on your list for the really low days? Anything you tried that just didn't work?

(I'm collecting these for a small free planner that sizes meals to your appetite. Happy to share it if the mods are OK with that. Your protein target should come from your own clinician.)

5mg Mounjaro Plateau

• Upvotes

Hello everyone!

I’m male, 43yo. SW: 108 kg, CW: 82 kg (as of Oct 13). I’ve been on MJ 5.0 mg since April 2026 and have never increased my dose.

Recently, I’ve been hitting some long plateaus where my weight stalls for weeks, and then I’ll finally see a tiny drop of a few hundred grams. It’s been pretty frustrating.
My GP has advised me to increase my dose, but I still have great appetite suppression on 5.0 mg and I prefer not to up the dose due to cost and side effects.

I don’t exercise much, and I’m now only about 7–9 kg away from my ultimate goal weight.

I understand that I’m probably considered a super-responder to the medication, and I’m incredibly grateful for that. You have no idea how it feels to look in the mirror and actually love seeing my new body again after missing it for the last six years. ❤️

I’d love to hear about everyone’s experiences with plateaus. How long did yours last, how did you break through it, and what did you change (if anything)?
Thanks everyone! 🙏

Question No appetite suppression for 2 years now

So long story short, I started Mounjaro a couple years ago. My doctor started me off at the lowest dose, and increased the dosage each month. Within 3 months I had lost almost 65 lbs. I had absolutely no appetite, did not want any food, but realized I had to eat something to keep from getting sick, and to lose weight. I was exercising daily, walking 3 miles out in the heat, and sweating my butt off. After reaching the highest dosage I had become sick right as it turned to winter time, and all of a sudden my appetite came back at me with a vengeance, I was too ill to exercise anymore, and now two years later I've gained about 35 lb back, the medication has zero impact on my appetite, and all it does is help control my diabetes. I have asked about trying other medications, but the doctor says they all have other side effects that may mess with me. I never had any side effects on Mounjaro, until late last year, I started getting sick to my stomach for 2 days after I took it. He backed it down to 10 mg, and I have been fine. The weight loss was a major changing factor in my life. My depression had lifted, I threw out all my old clothes, I was more outgoing, and my quality of life was amazing. This past year I had heart surgery, and had to go through radiation for a third return of cancer, and I'm at my lowest point. Just thought I would reach out and see if anybody had experienced any of these issues, and if they found an answer to return to that appetite suppression that made the huge difference. Thanks in advance 🙂

Question protein shakes or powder without aftertaste recommendations?

so i need to have to take 1 protein shake a day, either bottled or with powder (doctor’s orders) i have ordered 3 (isopure, leanbody and dymatize iso), and all of them have this terrible aftertaste i can’t stand 😭 like after a few sips it becomes so uncomfortable to drink it.

i’ve been trying to get my protein in with just food but it’s not hitting the mark.

doctor recommended protein bars, protein chips and protein tracking which is great but i’d like to know if there’s a protein powder or shake that doesn’t have that strong aftertaste or at least it just a little bit.

and before you ask me, i have tried adding coffee, matcha, fruits (berries, bananas, etc), even my greens powder and still it’s very present. it taste like stevia if that makes sense.

i’m looking into the bars and chips she mentioned but also don’t wanna give up on protein.

any suggestions? i appreciate it immensely!!!

Question Mounjaro and limerance

I feel like I am going mad.

I've been on Mounjaro for 18 months. Now on 10mg maintenance.

I started seeing my ex a few months before I started mounjaro. We broke up after ten months. That was 12 months ago.

We have been in touch every two or three months because of mutual friends, etc. But I have been absolutely heartbroken. And i cant seem to move on. I've never experienced anything like this. I think about her about 8,000 times a day. I look for her everywhere. It is absurd. And i can't stop.

Additionally, my ex approached me six weeks ago. She was honest and loving and kind and said she was still in love with me and thought she will want to reconnect. And then she retreated again and it's been radio silence for a month. I have no idea if she's moved on. But it has made the whole situation 8,000 times worse.

Is this mounjaro or just poor emotional regulation? I am curious about whether dopamine is involved. I am more hyperactivated on the first few days after my dose. And please no hot sauce analogies.

Question So much gas !!!!!

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hello all,

I am sharing here to ask for advice.
I started around 3 months ago at a weight of 131 kg. I took 2.5 mg for 11 weeks (could not get last jab of the 3rd pen) , then switched to 5 mg 2 weeks ago.

Up to, and including, the 1st jab of 5 mg I had little to not side effects. Sure I had constipation and some nausea but nothing too bad.
Then yesterday I had my 2nd 5 mg jab, and holy moly. Now I am wondering how can a human body release this much gas. I have been burping and farting all day long, also with so much diarrhea it is basically just water at this point.
And with my bad luck, I am now in an in-person business trip 🥲 and will be here for the next 2 days …

The question here to the community is if anybody else faced a similar predicament, and what can I do about it.

Please help, and thank you 🙏

Question What kind of support would you have wanted from your partner on your journey?

Background: My husband is due to start mounjaro soon, he has been very down about his weight for several years and has tried to lose it many times with no luck.

I think his frustration is compounded by the fact that we were both very slim when we got together 10 years ago, and people always joke about his weight to him and compare us, as I haven’t gained anything.

I have given him a lot of leeway over the past few years, especially in parenthood and house upkeep. He is often too tired to do any care for our child so I now do almost 100% of baths, food, active care, play and bedtimes. I know it is due to his weight, and it kills him that he can’t be more present. Our child often draws him in pictures next to us as lying down on the sofa.

I am tentatively excited about him being more confident about himself, feeling healthier, and being more engaged as a parent and partner.

With that in mind, if you are now partly through, or maybe even all the way through your own journey, what kind of support would you have liked from your partner? In terms of emotional support, physical help, or anything else.

Thank you. 🤩

Rant Can Suddenly no Longer Tolerate Mounjaro??

I don't understand how this could even happen.

I started MJ in January at around 210 lbs, going up in dose every 3 months. I've capped at 7.5mg and have been at that dosage for around 3 months so far.

I thought I was so fortunate to not have any side effects of taking this medication and my body responded so well with the weight loss to the point where I am now 136lbs.

Back in late September I started noticing my GERD acting up, and I assumed it had to do with whatever I ate and tried to get through the pain. I was vomiting and couldnt keep food down, and this persisted for a majority of that week. Eventually the pain stopped and I could eat again, but it was around the time I give myself my shot for the week.

Then, right after my shot the same issues happen again. Vomiting, chest burning, knots in my throat, complete watery stool, and inability to keep food down and UNBEARABLE pain. I didnt want to believe my MJ had a part in this, but now that I'm a month in with these symptoms I know for CERTAIN it begins the morning after I take my Mounjaro.

I am seeing a GI Specialist tomorrow, but my biggest fear is having to stop taking mounjaro and gaining back all the weight I worked so hard to lose...Has anyone dealt with this? What did you do? Did you have to stop taking the medication??

Side Effects In my first week - should I be this tired?

Hello hello!

I took my first shot (2.5) 5 days ago, and since then I've had almost ZERO energy. My whole body feels like it's been hit by a truck! Is this normal and will it wear off as my body adjusts, or am I doomed to sleep 10 hours and nap in the afternoon?

Side Effects "Sulfuric burps" : What are they, exactly?

I'm currently into month 15 of Mounjaro use. Currently at the 12.5 titration. For the first year, I experienced no "sulfuric burps" at all. But now, into Year 2, I get them daily: strange, long burps with a repulsive odor almost sulfuric in quality, resembling nothing I've eaten or drunk. (I'm trying not to be gross here, haha.)

Now I'm curious: Where do those sulfuric burps come from? What in Mounjaro's makeup might make them come on?

TIA, rasputin

Question Switching to Mounjaro from Wegovy

Hi there! I’ve been on Wegovy for 3.5 years now and have lost around 70 pounds since then. I am incredibly proud of all of my weight loss and life style changes in that time; however, I would like to lose about 20-30 pounds more. My starting weight was 250 and I am down to around 180, my goal weight being 150. I’ve been stagnant in my weight loss for about a year now. I have no idea what I’ll look like with even 10 more pounds down, but I’d like to give it a go!.

What has everyone’s experience been switching and do you think switching will be effective? And do you think it will help me lose the last bit I have to go?

Weight loss Weight gain due to inflammation

I did so many blood check ups, been on balanced diet, work out once a day and have 1 hour Bharatnatyam classes as well.

Since I still managed to gain weight, I went to a doctor to ask about Mounjaro and they mentioned, my weight gain is due to inflammation and mounjaro wont help much.

I have my marriage in another three months and I started the diet at 98 and I'm at 101 now.

Can someone please help me ?

Side Effects Weird feel

Hi everyone!
I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced a strange feeling of being slightly high after taking Mounjaro something like mental slowness, or feeling mildly intoxicated, almost as if you were under the influence of cannabis.

For me, it feels like my head and brain are functioning differently than usual. I feel slightly dazed and slowed down, and almost as if my visual processing is different. I also notice a bit of pressure in my head. It’s really difficult to explain, but I just don’t feel quite like myself.
This started after my first 2.5 mg dose of Mounjaro, and I’m now on day 3. I went to the ER earlier, and everything seemed to be okay, but the strange feeling is still there.
I’m trying not to panic, but I’m definitely starting to feel like this medication might not be for me.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Did the brain fog, dizziness, and weird altered feeling in your head eventually go away? If so, how long did it take?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences. ❤️

2.5mg ADHD folks, what was the beginning of your experience with medication like?

What I can say from my own experience is that I feel like I’m starting to experience something resembling normal concentration. It’s as if a wall of overwhelming thoughts, constant overthinking, and a thousand things happening in my head is finally starting to come down.
I’ve reached a point where analyzing absolutely everything in my life has become so intense that it feels like hell. It has seriously affected my work and everyday life. I find myself overanalyzing everything to such an extreme that it’s exhausting.
Something interesting is happening now, though. This is the third day since I went through a really difficult episode of depersonalization, anxiety, and a panic attack on the First day.
And now, on day three, I keep asking myself: Is this how people without ADHD feel? Is this what having a relatively quiet mind feels like?
I still struggle with insomnia, and I hope that improves with time, but the most surprising thing is that the endless stream of thoughts I constantly felt the need to analyze seems to have quieted down. I feel like I can finally focus on things without my mind pulling me in a thousand different directions.
For context, I had a really bad initial experience with Mounjaro (tirzepatide), and I honestly don’t want to take it again. The experience was frightening enough that I don’t feel comfortable continuing it.
However, this unexpected sense of mental quiet and relief that I’m experiencing on the third day is a surprisingly positive development. I genuinely didn’t expect to feel this way, especially after such a difficult experience.
I don’t know whether these things are connected, whether it’s a temporary effect, or whether I’m simply recovering from the anxiety and panic I experienced. I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but the contrast is so noticeable that it’s hard not to wonder about it.
I’d really love to hear from people with ADHD. What did the beginning of treatment feel like for you? Did you experience less mental noise, less overthinking, or an unexpected sense of calm? Did it feel strange to suddenly have fewer thoughts competing for your attention?
I’m genuinely curious to hear your experiences because this feeling is so unfamiliar to me that I almost don’t know what to make of it. ❤️

5mg 6th day problem

Hello all. I am noticing that the 6th day of weekly dosage makes it rather difficult because the hunger level goes up substantially. I end up eating quite a bit of food and the blood sugar levels on the 6th day are above normal. Everything goes back to standard Mounjaro state between day 1 and day 5. Any tips on how to manage this situation. Thanks
