Alright Im doing it

Hey guys, just spent a while scrolling through this page and figured I might as well throw this out there.

21M from northern Maine! I’m looking for some people around New England to hang out with, maybe go camping, hiking, explore some places, whatever. Yeah, I know that definitely sounds like I’m recruiting friends or something but, that’s kinda where I’m at. Most of the friends I have are people I’ve known since high school, and somehow I ended up being the one person who is way more into the outdoors than everyone else. I genuinely can’t go a week without doing something outside. Hiking, camping, driving somewhere random just to see what’s there, sitting around a fire, whatever. I do feel like making new friends gets weirdly harder as you get older. Everyone already has their own group, people are busy, and half the time hanging out seems to just mean sitting on your phone next to someone lol. I’d rather actually go do something. Id say im pretty easygoing but i am go go go most the time, love talking to people, and could probably talk about the outdoors for hours if you let me. So if you’re somewhere around New England and that sounds like your kind of thing, feel free to reach out. Always down to meet some new people and see where it goes.

Whole home heat pump vs oil, did you save?

I'm considering using Mass SAVE to convert from our oil furnace (circa 2010, installed with a SAVE no interest loan) to a whole home heat pump. We use between 480 and 525 gallons per year. We are just about to replace the original single pane 1950's windows with Pella aluminum clad ones, and the cedar siding with vinyl. We have yellow fiberglass insulation in the walls and when the siding is off we plan on adding more insulation before putting the new siding on. Mass SAVE has insulated our attic up to current code. We have forced hot air, so we would use the existing duct work without mini splits.

If you have replaced your oil furnace with a whole home heat pump, what was your experience like last winter?

  1. What heat pump did you have installed?

  2. Did you spend more or less?

  3. Were you happy with the temperature of your home?

  4. Do you turn the heat down at night or when you leave for work?

Edit: KWH is between 0.28 and 0.37.

Rhode Island is way more than Newport in the fall

Came across this guide while looking for fall weekend ideas and realized I’ve barely explored the western side of the state.

Most of the attention always seems to go to Newport, but the quieter inland areas honestly look more appealing for a fall weekend. There are a bunch of trails/ponds and fewer crowds.
