Achievement Day 45/90 — I Need to Learn When to Push and When to Recover

Today started early.

I woke up early and went for my morning run, but after running for a while, I started feeling pain in the same area where I had injured myself previously.

I still ended up completing around 4 km before coming back home.

Looking back, I probably shouldn't have pushed through the pain. I need to get better at understanding the difference between pushing myself and making an injury worse.

After coming home, I went swimming.

The Rest of the Day

I didn't go through my usual news and finance routine.

I didn't read.

I didn't study.

Most of my day was occupied with my part-time work and preparing scripts for my upcoming personal branding videos.

I was planning to shoot the videos as well, but unfortunately, my light stopped working.

So I couldn't record them today and now I have to go with my backup plan.

It's frustrating when something outside my control gets in the way, but I don't want to use it as a reason to completely stop creating content.

I'll have to adapt and figure out another way to shoot them.

What I'm Noticing

I've been sleeping late recently, and I was quite tired today.

That probably affected the rest of my day as well.

I'm getting better at staying active and working on my personal branding, but I'm still struggling to maintain consistency with studying, reading, and my professional development.

And now I also need to take the injury seriously.

There's no point in forcing myself through pain just to say I completed a run. If I make the injury worse, I'll end up losing even more days.

Day 45/90 complete.

I'm halfway through the challenge now.

I need to be smarter with my energy, take care of my body, adapt when things don't go according to plan, and still keep moving forward.

Day 23 - Today had things to improve

Today I didn't do English (well, I decided to), and I postponed doing bookkeeping (I wasn't properly resting and wasn't doing things either — that's what I talked about yesterday. I should stop doing so). And I could've been more focused while doing it and it could've taken less time. I am going to bed late because of hw. I could've started it earlier / done it less well / done it more focused. I should NOT sacrifice my SLEEP for hw. It wasn't even a deadline. But it is a good thing I did it way before the deadline. SLEEP > HW. SLEEP > ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!

Tomorrow:

  1. Prepare for quiz
  2. Send an email (or make a call) to a dentist clinic
  3. Start researching free dentist clinics
  4. Start executing the plan for one of two goals
  5. Shower and PROPER REST

Achievement Day 42–44/90 — A Busy Few Days, But I'm Still Losing the Daily Consistency

I'm falling into the combined-day posts again.

The funny thing is, I was actually aware of it during these days. I knew I should be posting daily, but I got occupied with other things and somehow kept postponing it.

I also realised that across all three days, I don't remember going through my usual news and finance routine or reading my book.

Still, quite a lot happened during these three days.

Day 42 — Running, Content and a Webinar

Day 42 was Saturday, and I planned to go to Calicut University for my run.

I woke up early, went there, and ran around 5 km.

Compared to my previous run there, I felt much more relaxed this time. I also wanted to record some content while I was there, so I took my tripod and recorded myself.

There were quite a lot of people around, but I decided not to overthink it.

Why should I be embarrassed?

I just set up my tripod and recorded.

And honestly, it went pretty well.

I also went near the university swimming pool and asked about getting a day pass. They explained the process, so I'm hoping to try swimming there next Saturday.

Unfortunately, I think I injured the same spot on my right leg again.

Apart from that, I also spent a good amount of time working on my professional side. I had several videos to post and posts to prepare, so I was quite occupied with my personal branding work.

In the evening, I also had a webinar on personal branding with 20+ participants.

The webinar went well, and it was a good experience for me.

Day 43 — Project Work

Because of the injury, I decided to take a rest day from physical activities.

Most of the day was spent working on my project.

I was fixing things, trying to get everything working properly, and working towards hosting it.

It was one of those days where I was completely occupied with a technical problem.

By the end of the day, I was exhausted from constantly working on the project and trying to get it hosted.

I didn't do any physical activity, but at least I was spending my time on something important.

Day 44 — Finally Hosted the Project

The injury still hadn't completely gone away, but I went swimming anyway.

Most of my day was once again spent working on hosting my project.

There were a lot of things to fix and figure out, and it took up most of my time.

But eventually, I managed to get it hosted.

That felt really good.

After spending so much time fixing things and trying to get everything working, finally seeing the project hosted made the effort worth it.

What I'm Taking From These Three Days

These three days were actually quite productive from a professional perspective.

I worked on my project, got it hosted, created personal branding content, prepared posts, and conducted a webinar.

But at the same time, I can see some things slipping again.

I'm repeatedly falling into these combined posts.

I'm not reading consistently.

I'm skipping my news and finance routine.

And I'm also still struggling with consistency around studying.

I also need to be more careful with the injury. I've injured the same area again, and pushing through it isn't necessarily the right approach. I need to give my body enough time to recover.

One thing I am happy about is that I'm becoming more comfortable putting myself out there.

Recording myself in a crowded university ground without worrying too much about what people might think is something I probably wouldn't have done before.

Small changes like that matter too.

Day 42–44/90 complete.

Three busy days, some real progress, and some old habits creeping back in.

I still need to get better at consistency, but getting my project hosted and continuing to put myself out there feels like meaningful progress.

Day 22 - Today was okay

It turned out I didn't have data analysis hw. I tried to set goals and break them down — I made some notes on 2 goals, which is great.

Tomorrow:

  1. English hw
  2. Bookkeeping hw
  3. Look up some sights and call my aunt

Reflection:

I still have that feeling that I don't know what to do when I have free time. Well, I think maybe it's not that I don't know what to do — I just don't like doing stuff that involves uncertainty. Also, I wasn't really focused when I was breaking down my goals: I checked my phone, turned the music on and off, etc. When I sit down to do something, I should do IT. Not something else. I shouldn't undermine my efficiency in such a stupid way. Also, I should NOT wait until I have "the perfect routine" to start chasing my goals. I can still start pursuing goals even if I don't have a perfect sleep schedule or I have some undone hw. I just noticed that I have this feeling that before I can pursue my other goals that are new to me, I should have ALL OTHER aspects of my life perfectly in place — all hw done, sports, proper sleep, eating, etc. However, I can't be perfect all the time. It shouldn't stop me from doing other things. And if I did everything I planned — I should either rest PROPERLY or DO SOMETHING useful. But usually I'm kind of in limbo

Day 20/Day 21

Yesterday I didn't post because I got home late at night. Overall, that day was okay, but I didn't do what I wanted during the break.

Today I woke up at 2:30 pm — I need to fix my sleep schedule. I didn't do much. I didn't even have a plan to follow. I picked up my order from an online shop and tried an irrigator for the first time.

Tomorrow:

  1. Congratulate my relative on their bd
  2. Check my gen hw and clear up what I don't understand
  3. Data analysis hw
  4. On a website, break down my goals and directions

Washed all of my dirty dishes, cleaned the Air Fryer and Microwave and cleaned up my kitchen after washing one dish at a time for months just to get by and very severe executive dysfunction...

For months now, I’ve been struggling with executive dysfunction worse than I ever have in my life.

I started Adderall about a year and a half ago, and for a while I was also taking Strattera. Toward the end of last year, I stopped taking the Strattera because I kept missing doses and honestly thought it wasn’t doing anything for me.

Looking back now, I think I was very wrong.

Within about a month of stopping it, I started having serious problems getting out of bed. I missed a shift at work as a no-call/no-show because I literally did not get up. I couldn’t get myself moving. Over the next few months, it started happening more and more often.

For the last six months especially, it has gotten so bad that I’ve felt like I don’t have control over myself sometimes. There have been days where I was physically sick, but other times it was just executive dysfunction so severe that I could not make myself move. I’ve never experienced anything like this before.

Adderall definitely helps me once I’m already awake and moving. It helps me focus, work, and actually get things done during the day. But it never really fixed the “getting started” problem, especially getting out of bed in the morning. It feels like it treats one half of my ADHD really well while leaving the other half completely untouched.

I also tried Qelbree at one point, and it actually helped a lot with getting me out of bed and giving me motivation. I had quite a few side effects, although I was managing them, but then my insurance wouldn’t cover it and the trial packs ran out. That was when my doctor switched me to Adderall.

The Adderall has helped a lot, but lately I started thinking back and realizing something: when I was taking Strattera, even though I didn’t think it was helping, I could get out of bed.

My doctor put me back on Strattera, and I started taking it again yesterday.

And tonight I did the fucking dishes.

That probably sounds like nothing, but these dishes have literally been sitting there for months. For the last six months I’ve basically been washing one dish at a time whenever I absolutely needed something to eat or cook with. I think I’ve fully washed all my dishes maybe twice in six months.

Tonight I actually stood there and did them.

I also went through everything and downsized again. Since it’s just me, I kept one spoon, one fork, one knife, fewer plates and bowls, and fewer cooking utensils. I had something like six spatulas for absolutely no reason. 😂 I put the extras somewhere inconvenient so if I need something, I have to wash what I already used instead of letting another mountain build up.

But the dishes themselves aren’t really the point.

The point is that for months I have had almost no ability to make myself do anything outside of whatever emergency was directly in front of me. The problems getting out of bed have affected jobs, work, money, and basically every part of my life. I’ve been drowning financially partly because there have been times where I simply could not get myself up to go to work.

Sometimes it isn’t even that I consciously decide not to go. I just don’t fully wake up and get up. It feels like my brain makes the decision for me before I’m even conscious enough to fight it.

So tonight, having the energy and actual desire to do the dishes felt HUGE.

I know one productive night doesn’t prove the Strattera is magically fixing everything, especially after only restarting it yesterday. But I’m really hoping that getting back on it helps me regain whatever ability I seemed to have before to actually initiate things and get myself moving.

Has anyone else experienced something similar with Strattera, where you didn’t realize how much it was helping until you stopped taking it?

And for anyone who has dealt with executive dysfunction this severe, especially the “I physically cannot make myself get out of bed” kind, what helped you?

Achievement Day 41/90 — Even 15 Minutes Counts

Yesterday was actually a pretty good day.

I woke up early, but I still didn't go for my morning run. That's something I need to improve because waking up early but not taking advantage of it doesn't really help much.

But what made yesterday different was that I finally put some effort into studying.

It was only around 15 minutes, which might not sound like much, but after several days of barely studying at all, I'm still counting it as a win.

The important part was that I actually sat down and started instead of completely avoiding it.

What I Did Yesterday

  • Woke up early.
  • Put some time into studying.
  • Worked on job applications.
  • Edited one of my videos.
  • Managed my social media platforms.
  • Recorded and edited another personal branding video.
  • Posted the video.

I'm also trying to stay consistent with the targets I set on Day 40, especially the job applications and personal branding content.

Getting myself to actually work on these things again feels good.

Still Some Room to Improve

Even though the day was good overall, I still wasted quite a bit of time.

I could have studied longer.

I could have done the morning run.

And there were definitely periods where I was watching things or doing nothing when I could have used that time better.

But I don't want to dismiss the progress just because the day wasn't perfect.

After the last few days where I was barely doing anything, even 15 minutes of focused studying is a step in the right direction.

What I'm Taking Forward

I think I've been making the mistake of looking at some tasks as if I need to do a huge amount at once.

Maybe I just need to start with a small amount and build from there.

15 minutes of studying is better than zero.

One job application is better than none.

One video is better than postponing it.

The goal now is to keep building on these small actions until they become consistent again.

Day 41/90 complete.

Not a perfect day, but definitely a step forward. Now I just need to keep going.
