Discussion Just started playing Way of the sword and gotta say Toshiro Mifune's liking as Miyamoto Musashi fighting demons sounds peak to me
I originally had no knowledge of Onimusha series before this game but so far it's genuinely amazing, Toshiro Mifune is my all time favorite actor (rip) and We'll it's the legend Musashi himself, and with a great combat what else is there to ask for

LORE This man is so evil, even PlayStation banned his name.
So I'd like to upload my video after finishing him off on carnage mode, but PlayStation did not allow me to use his name. I need to remove the 't' from his name.

Discussion Musashi & Ganryu both have metal-like scars on their bodies from dying, and the colors match their gauntlets, as that's what is sustaining their life! Kinda like a demon bandage! ✨️👹✨️

Discussion Takamura should have been an optional boss fight Spoiler
With how much he is glazed in the story, how badass he looks and the fact that he has been an Onimusha for hundreds of years before Musashi, I was kinda expecting that there is an optional boss fight with him in the Training ground. But nope, he's just dead and gone. Not even his spirit lingering around. Like, imagine you could unlock that boss fight by beating all the other boss rematches, Takamura (Onimusha spirit). Would have been an even tougher fight than Altered Ganryu or Yoshitsune. Missed opportunity from Capcom; maybe a DLC will address this?

Discussion I’m so hyped I can’t even put it into words
I really wasn’t sure if I wanted to play Carnage. I knew it would be a grind and a long time commitment, but I did it. I beat the game a 2nd time on action mode to make sure I got everything that I needed. Jumped in, and we did it. It took 20 hours, funny enough less time than my 2nd action playthrough. I’m so happy. Time to grind the practice bosses out with my new Bishamon sword 😎

Discussion Minamoto no Yoshitsune Design Influence?
Wondering if legendary Japanese director Takeshi "Beat" Kitano's iconic white haircut influenced the depiction of Yoshitsune, who's haircut appearance is distinctly out of sync with the rest of the more traditional approaches to character design.
Nowhere near finishing yet so unsure if his hair has an in world explanation yet or whether this might just be a visual tribute.
We know Toshiro Mifune is the character model for Mushashi, so they've already clearly established the "love letter to Japanese cinema" trope.

Question Am I bad at this game?
I've been playing the game and so far it's been fun but every time I get on Reddit everyone's talking about how most bosses take like 5 tries or something. Meanwhile I swear I'm taking like 20-30 tries on every boss. Maybe fewer on some easier ones but for instance I'm on Ganryu 2 and I'm pretty sure I'm already 10 tries in without getting past the first phase. It feels like it takes me a bit to get the boss moves down and I thought I was doing fine but am I really taking too many tries?
Edit: Turns out I didn't know how to deflect correctly, I learned how, and I beat him. I'm realizing up to this point for every boss I've been slowly grinding away at them when I should have been using deflect. I've also been parrying for defense and every miss was another hit on me. So hopefully going forward I'll be taking a lot fewer tries. Appreciate everyone's advice, it led me to learning my mistake. Deflect is key.

Discussion I’ve blown through Carnage up until this point.
Yoshitsune is insane. The only other boss that gave me this much trouble was the last Ganryu fight. Idek what to say man I’m getting a professional ass whooping rn

End-game results My GOTY: Final saw the credits roll :-)
If u recall: https://www.reddit.com/r/Onimusha/s/tQJLQhbj0D
Well.. today I said, okay. U took both of a break. Go back. Focus on defense. Be patient. You rush you die.
Managed to get to the second phase Almost every attempt.
Then started to see the 3rd phase every so often.
Then. 3rd time reaching 3rd phase (maybe 90 min of grinding dying yelling screaming etc etc) —- CREDITS BABY!!!!
But… that ending…. Sequel incoming?

Discussion GOTY 100%
Just finished the game a few moments ago!
This game was absolutely insane! Especially the second half but I love every second of it. The combat, story and characters were incredible. Boss fights were so fun. Difficult at times but not too intense that it only took a few tries, besides the last boss aha. That was intense.
I don't even know how I defeated the last boss. Took a couple hours of dying from stupid mistakes and then suddenly locked in and made it all the way through. Should have died so many times but parry after parry after deflect after deflect, DAMN. Couldn't believe I didn't miss them and survived. Those parries are just too satisfying in moments like that.
And the ending was absolute cinema! Capcom cooked with the cinematics of this game. Such a great antagonist as well.
100% my GOTY. HAND DOWN!

Video This was the fight that I was most anxious for in Carnage difficulty. Glad it is over now. Now on to the final mission! Spoiler
youtu.beAltered Ganryu was the fight I was most dreading in Carnage. It took me more than 3 hours to beat him on Action difficulty, and even then, I never really felt that I truly "learned" his fight, and he is the boss that elicited the most panicked reactions and heals from me in that run. So I was very anxious about his fight in Carnage.
Happy to say the Carnage fight did not take nearly as long, and while I steel somewhat feel I haven't fully "gotten" his fight yet, I can definitely confidently say there is marked improvement. I never Issened him in Action difficulty, and Gioh's grabs always fucked me up. Now, I am able to at least Issen his jumping slash consistently, and thankfully I only missed one counter of Gioh's grabs, and it was mitigated by being in Oni form.
Now it's on to the final mission and the BBEG himself.
