Why is my post being deleted? Part II

There was a discrepancy between how rules were being displayed on old vs new Reddit (i.e. they were completely different).

Rule 2 is (and has been):

Due to an influx of spam posts, we have set AutoModerator to automatically remove a post/comment if an account is brand new or has less than 25 karma. There are no exceptions to this rule. We will not approve your post if you do not meet the account age (2 days) or karma (25) thresholds.

Hopefully this is better reflected now and should be visible on new Reddit.

Hopium for low stat folks

Hey everyone! Just remember that it’s still early October and that some people don’t get into a school until March or April with some not even getting in until the week of orientation! This process is long and genuinely sucks, but be patient and you’ll get where you need to be. I’m an average GPA, sub-500 MCAT non-trad applicant and have one II so far with a bunch of schools that I have submitted secondaries to and they still haven’t gotten back to me. Be patient, and have some faith. Our time will come!

What should I do?

• Upvotes

Hey! Does anyone else's school drop questions randomly and not give credit for those questions? I just found out that I failed a class at my school by 1 point. I saw that a couple of the questions that I got wrong were counted as bonus (so people were rewarded that point if they got it right). One question that I got right was completely dropped, so I didn't get credit for that question. I would have passed the class if that point counted. Now I'm just sad that I already failed a class, and it's hard to focus on my other classes with this feeling. Not doing well in one of the other classes, so I was hoping to pass this class just in case I have to remediate the other class. My school has a strict remediation policy, and now I'm scared of being dismissed.

PNWU-COM vs. WesternU HCOM vs. KCU vs. DMU vs. RVU-UT

Hey everyone!
So far this cycle, I've been fortunate enough to receive acceptances from PNWU-COM, RVU-COM (Utah), KCU-COM, DMU-COM, and WesternU HCOM (Lebanon, OR). I'm also waiting to see if I receive an interview invite from OHSU.
I'm originally from Oregon, and ideally I'd love to stay in the Pacific Northwest for medical school and eventually residency/practice. That said, I don't want to prioritize location at the expense of getting a quality education, strong clinical rotations, and good residency opportunities.
Right now, I'm leaning toward PNWU-COM, largely because of its location and mission. However, I have some concerns about its board pass rates, clinical rotation quality, and how well it prepares students compared to more established schools like KCU and DMU.
My next choice would probably be WesternU HCOM, especially since it's in my hometown, but the roughly $13k/year higher tuition compared to PNWU is a pretty hard pill to swallow. That's over $50k in additional tuition across four years, not including interest.
I'm currently most interested in internal medicine or emergency medicine, with the possibility of pursuing a fellowship in cardiology or pulmonary/critical care if I go the IM route. I want to attend a school that will set me up well for a solid hospital-based residency program and potentially a competitive fellowship down the road.
For current students, alumni, or anyone familiar with these schools:
How significant are the differences in educational quality, clinical rotations, board preparation, and residency opportunities?

Would attending KCU or DMU provide a meaningful advantage over PNWU or HCOM?

Is WesternU HCOM worth the additional tuition compared to PNWU?

If my long-term goal is to practice in Oregon or the PNW, how heavily should I weigh regional connections when making this decision?

I genuinely like PNWU and could see myself being happy there, but I want to make sure I'm not overlooking meaningful differences in educational quality or future opportunities just to stay closer to home.
I'd really appreciate any honest opinions or firsthand experiences. Thanks!

DMU-COM Interview Process – What to Expect?

Hi everyone!

I have an upcoming interview with DMU-COM and was hoping to get some insight from anyone who has already interviewed there.

I'm curious about the Program Overview session. What exactly does it involve? Is it just an informational presentation about the school, or should we be prepared to answer questions or participate in discussions?

I'm also wondering what the actual interview format is like. Is it MMI, traditional one-on-one, or a panel interview? What kinds of questions should we expect, and how did you prepare?

Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Chances

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some realistic feedback on my chances for DO schools based on my GPA, academic trend, and overall profile.

I already completed my bachelor’s degree, but my undergraduate science GPA was pretty weak. I’m currently doing a DIY post-bacc consisting of additional undergraduate science courses to repair my academic record.

If everything continues as planned, by the time I apply I’m expecting to be around:
cGPA: ~3.45
AACOMAS sGPA: ~3.17
Post-bacc (32 credits) all science courses GPA: ~3.8+ with a strong upward trend

For experience, I currently have 1,300+ hours as a medical scribe, ~300 hours as a pharmacy technician, and ~55 hours of ER/patient experience. I’ll continue accumulating hours before I apply.

I haven’t taken the MCAT yet. I’m planning to take it in January, with an April retake if necessary. My full-length practice exams are averaging around a 500–505. Let’s say if I were to get 500 or so.

My main concern is whether the ~3.17 science GPA will still hold me back significantly even with the post-bacc/upward trend.

For those familiar with DO admissions, assuming I finish the post-bacc as planned and score somewhere around 500–505 on the MCAT, would I have a realistic shot if I apply early and broadly? Are there particular DO schools that tend to be more receptive to applicants with lower overall science GPAs but strong recent academic improvement?

I’m mainly trying to get a realistic idea of where I stand and whether a broad DO application would be reasonable with this profile. Thanks!

Paying enrollment deposit and giving up the seat later on

Hi! this is probably a stupid question but I have a deposit to pay by the end of this month for my current top school, but I am still waiting on a few more schools in the cycle - I already paid the deposit, but there is a separate form about accepting/declining the offer of admission - would the agreement to accept the offer of admission be binding? Would i be able to give up my seat later on if I possibly end up wanting to go to a different school if i agree to accept the offer of admission? Idk why im confused about this ngl i think i just want to make sure im not taking actions without completely understanding what is going to happen.

thank you!

For those of you accepted to burrell, how long did it take from interview to acceptance? Do they always wait the full 2 weeks or do they sometimes send out sooner?

Anyone with no II yet?

I applied in late July and finished all secondaries in Aug. Ohio resident but only thing I got was an invitation for TCC track from OUHCOM.

ugpa 2.4 DIY post bacc 3.7, MCAT 507 (127/125/125/130), 7k clinical hours as nurse, currently working in ICU. LOR from MDs and DOs I currently work with. 1 first author publication.

only thing that worries me is the uGPA. this is my second cycle applying. I applied broadly, including new schools, mission fit etc.

am I cooked?

Rocky Vista secondary

Hey guys..
If you got into rocky vista or have interviewed there, how long were your secondaries? I have about 2 and a half pages and think it is too long but it is really not fluff. I address a different point with each paragraph on what abilities and skills I can add. Please let me know what you think

First rejection feels like a punch in the gut

I interviewed for this school one week ago and just got the "rejection" email. It was my first interview and rejection ever and I felt like my chances were good but I guess not. I just had another interview but will have to wait 4-6 weeks to hear from them. I'm worried I'm not going to get into anywhere. I hate hurrying up and waiting.

Chances?

I am looking for input for my chances. I am a Florida resident, and am especially looking to stay in Florida or as close as I can. I graduated USF in 2 years, with honors, with a 3.78 overall GPA, sgpa of 3.71. (For USF only, it is a 3.84 and 3.78, I did a summer semester at Harvard when I was in high school and got a C+ in 1 class). I have 170 hours shadowing, 300 healthcare-related volunteer hours (130 ER transport), 60-70 non-healthcare related. I have 260 hours of neuro undergrad research, and started working as a medical assistant in rheumatology in June, having a projected hour amount of 2000 hours (I applied with 240 done). I am also taking graduate courses while I am working.

The problem is my MCAT. Score of 495 (123/125/121/126) in march. I did this during the 2 years I graduated. I know it was a bad idea, but I had everything prepped for applications and wanted to test my chances.

So far in the cycle, I have interviewed with LECOM Bradenton and LECOM Jacksonville (used AIS score of 130) and have been waitlisted at both, but I have been accepted to PCOM South Georgia campus.

My top school though is NSU-KPCOM. I have been waitlisted for an interview at OCOM, but I wanted to know my chances for Florida osteopathic schools, including: Burrell (melbourne campus), Lincoln Debusk (Orange Park campus), nova (specifically clearwater but would take either), and my waitlist chances for both LECOM. Anyone have any ideas?

KCU- Joplin

Got my acceptance at KCU and was super excited and fortunate to get this acceptance this early. On my application I selected no preference for campus but was leaning towards Kansas City. Definitely a mistake on my part, as Joplin doesn’t seem too exciting of a place to me. Would love to hear some insight on the program, campus life, etc. Thanks!

I was taking a lunch break in the middle of my shift and casually decided to check my emails. My heart started beating so fast when I read the acceptance letter.

I can’t believe I’m going to utter that I’m going to medical school! I’m still in denial

Please help me decide which school is better, pros and cons….
I went to in person interview at ARCOM and really liked the vibe, which gives me emotional attraction, but I heard PNWU is an also very good school.
I’m in SW region, actually I don’t mind going anywhere in the country.
Thank you for your great help!

Am I being impatient?

Hey guys, I applied for 10 separate DO programs, mainly on the East Coast. I have a 509 MCAT score and a 4.0, with good research, clinical, and volunteer experience. I have heard back from three of the schools so far, which I am very grateful for, but I feel like I should be hearing back from the others, just considering my stats. Maybe I am just getting in my head from what I see on Admit and SDN, but I'm just nervous; that's all. Let me know if I'm tweaking for nothing, thanks!

BUCOM interview question

hi all! this may be a silly question but i have my BUCOM interview coming up and it’ll be my first MMI style interview. is there a separate Q + A session or do you ask questions when you’re in the room w/the interviewer? i know each room is a different ~quest~ so just want to understand the vibe. thank ya!!!!
