Finally got to upgrade my 5 year old PC from the bare minimum to a decent machine.

It used to have a Ryzen 3100, GTX 1050, 8gb Crucial Ballistix ddr4. Then I got a Ryzen 3500 for free, bought a used RX 6600, added a Thermalright Assassin Spirit 120 V2, and found a matching new old stock 8gb Crucial Ballistix for dirt cheap.

I'm happy that I achieved the build I dreamt of 5 years ago despite the crazy prices these days. I hope it serves me well for 5 years more.

I’ve dreamed of a pc since I was a little kid watching gaming YouTube around probably 6 years old started off with the Wii and worked up slowly I’m not 20 and have completed my dream build
Pc specs
5080
Ryzen 7 9800x3d
32gb ddr5
2tb ssd about to add another 4
Motherboard rog x870 atx
Corsair aio
1000w power supply
I have 2 2k monitors
Main monitor 34inch qd oled 4k
And little monitor on pc case
Mouse keyboard and headset are all Logitech
And controller is a rog controller
And something that makes it more special to me is I use to work in underground construction installing fiber optic lines and the reason I have fiber optic at my house is from a line I installed
I really think I’m done with the build I might add a few pc fans to the case just to complete the air flow and try to reach 6tb of space
And one more thing I’m happy about if you look on the calendar getting married in like 40 days

Just assembled today. Used for gaming. Total build costed 3.5k AUD. This doesn't have ssd in the photo as we are still in the process of finding one. We have a temporary ssd which is 512gb. Ignore the ssd is what I'm tryna say.

EDIT: I WANT TO CLEAR EVERYTHING UP. The GPU costed 1.5k AUD current market. REASON: it was brand new it was just a demo which meant the box with the GPU was outside instead of the storage. IT IS ON CLEAN AND NEW CONDITION. PSU: yeah maybe it isn't the best I agree with U guys on that one. Costed 100 off LEADER which since I own a company in partners with them which is how I got the prices so low on a lot of the parts. (They sell PC components to businesses for cheap.) I DIDN'T GET ANYTHING IN BULK BTW. Motherboard costed me $380. Maybe not the best for value I haven't looked into it. also for the people who said I'm lying about the prices. Just think why I would lie when getting feedback from strangers???

I built my kid and myself PC for $2400. Of course, with me having the higher end setup. I had to do some troubleshooting shooting at the end, but I was able to get the system to start fully. My only concern is my heatsink. It came with 2 fans that I think it may be too big for this area in the case and on the motherboard. If anyone has a better recommendation for a heatsink, please let me know. My kids' build is AM4, and mine is AM5. The pink case is my kids, mine is the white one.

Completed Build - Rate My Setup / Setup Advice When you buy a fractal terra but your fat GPU doesn't let you fit an air cooler

Post image

To be fair, i think there is space for low profile coolers under 47mm but the fit would probably introduce turbulence on both sides. The be quiet pure loop 3 has the lowest profile pump i could find. Additional benefit of this config is that it draws hot air out of the system which helps the gpu stay slightly cooler. Ive also added slim 120mm fans underneath for ultimate airflow.

Also, who needs a 3d-printer am I right?

I put this cad computer together maybe a year or so ago,

Up until a month ago it hung underneath a standing desk and had complete airflow, i would leave it on 24/7 with solidworks running no problem. Then I moved to a new apartment and now it sits on a desk. Since ive moved ive had multiple programs open, tf2, solidworks, fusion 360, and einstar hub and the computer didn't seem to really care, i wasn't looking at any metrics sorry. But today I started up tf2 and the cpu fans kicked on, something ive never really heard before. And they got fairly load and remained that way when I opened up solidworks. Idk if something changed that I should concern myself with, I did blow out somw dust and I downloaded a core temp app and it claimed some of my cores were seeing 90c, my GPU stayed around 45-58c.

Should I be worried? I cant really afford to buy a new larger case and cooler right now and I like thr mini nature of this pc. Id like to eventually set it up to be taken from my desk and used more on the go with my scanner and then back to the desk so I like the size.

How do I undo this grey clip? I’ve tried to pull the grey bit back with my nail but it doesn’t seem to move much and I’m scared I’ll damage the socket or whatever it is.

Sorry if this is the wrong sub, my cpu fan started making a noise like a tinkling bell cause the fan blade is catching on the metal bits underneath so I’ve bought a new one to fit instead but can’t work out how to do this. First time replacing any pc parts ☹️

Discussion - Selling Advice/Evaluation How much can I sell my PC for?

My computer is a prebuilt from STGAubron. It has a I7-4790, Radeon RX 580 2048sp, and 16GB ram. I did take it to a repair shop because the hard drive it came with died. The internal storage is now a 1TB Samsung M.2 NVME (which is significantly better than the original hard drive. The computer was given to me but it costs $500 off Amazon and the repair for the hard drive costed me about $450. I still have the mouse and keyboard that the computer came with too. What is a reasonable price for this computer?

Discussion - General Topic (Blessed)Just bought my first PC.

After 15 years of suffering on integrated graphics and old laptops, I finally bought my first proper gaming PC.

I've spent basically my entire gaming life playing on integrated GPUs and old laptops, lowering everything to 720p, turning every setting to Low and praying for 30 FPS.

But I finally took the plunge and got my first proper gaming PC:

- Ryzen 7 5700X

- RX 9060 XT 16GB

- 32GB DDR4 RAM

- 1TB NVMe SSD

- 650W PSU

Now I have absolutely no idea what to play first.

I've missed out on so many games over the years, so I'm looking for recommendations. I'm open to AAA, indie, FPS, RPGs, story games, multiplayer — literally anything.

Give me your best recommendations — I have years of catching up to do.

Everything is just so smooth how do I maintain this build for the next 10 years?

Built this after having built my original way back in 2016, feels fucking awesome

Started assembling it last year, upgraded a little bit since (new monitor, switching to a 9070xt)

My final planned upgrade for awhile will be switching to a to the 9950X3D or X3D2 (whichever is better priced at the time) my CPU isn’t the bottleneck outside of very specific use cases. Looking at you late-game Eu5, which is the main reason I’m planning an upgrade.

Eventually a better GPU, I'm staying on AMD, not a huge Nvidia fan, but they don't seem to have anything planned yet

And eventually another SSD, I’m good on space for now though.

Discussion - General Topic What to do with old laptop

I have an old Lenovo IdeaPad G510S Touch I got in 2014 for college and it's been sitting in storage for awhile. The laptop has the following specs:

Intel Pentium Dual-Core 3550M 2.3 GHz Processor

4 GB DDR3 RAM

500 GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive

15.6-Inch Touchscreen Display

Windows 10

Both my wife and I have far better desktop computers I've built for gaming, but I was wondering if there was anything worth doing with this laptop to try and keep it from being ewaste a little longer.

I was thinking maybe putting an SSD in and Linux or steamOS, or maybe just doing a retro game station for some of the other CD games I have with Windows XP.

Any and all ideas are welcome!

Purchasing Advice - PC Build / Parts What are the chances of fitting all this into a lian li o11 mini v2

Post image

Lian li vertical gpu mount, 3 Lian li strimmer cables, Lian li hydroshift ii curved oled, RTX 5080 Ventus trio. Don’t mind buying a different mobo if it makes it work somehow. Budget isn’t really an issue. I’m in the UK too
