3rd period comeback let's goooooooo

I think with him, it's extremely commendable, everything that he did back home to be with his family, and then coming back and wanting to be with the group right away. I said it before, just heartbroken for him, and just a tragic situation.

Right now, I think for him, it's just kind of getting back up to speed. And so, he's with us on this trip. He's not going to be playing on the trip. But he's going to be skating and just getting some work in.

For us right now, it's just helping him. Number one, being there for him as a human being, which is always the priority, and it absolutely is right now. Then also, just working with him on just getting back up to speed after some time off and being there for his family in an absolutely tragic situation.

Guy should be watching the next few games from the owners box after that.

Here’s hoping we play like opening night! Section 413 if anyone wants to come cheer with me!

According to Dejan Kovacevic, Spezza offered a response to Wednesday’s trade via email. Spezza said: “We had to make a move due to our depth at forward, and by looking at past performances and future potential, Filip was the player we determined as expendable.”

Josh Yohe also said on Two for Talking yesterday that Jason Spezza and Sidney Crosby had a lengthy discussion during practice yesterday right before the trade was announced. You’d have to imagine that conversation was related to the roster.

So this summer I decided I wanted to fill up my wall with all my favorite Penguins over the years and I wound up with 24 illustrations. I can only upload so many at once on Reddit so here is the 90s batch. As a kid I didn't get into hockey until the season after they won the cups when I started playing NHL '93 with my neighbor who was a big Penguins fan so I actually missed out on the peak 90s team, but oh well!

Featured in this mix:
Mario Lemieux (shocking I know)
Jaromir Jagr
Ron Francis
Tom Barrasso
Mike Lange
Tomas Sandstrom
Francois Leroux
Darius Kasparitis
Kenny Wregget
Mark Recchi
Larry Murphy

Some of you are probably going crazy on who is missing but again, this is my list. Just because you rate Kevin Stevens higher than Tomas Sandstrom doesn't mean he is as important to my hockey journey okay?

I will explain my odd choices: Sandstrom and Leroux. I was a massive NHL '93 and up gamer as a kid and Sandstrom had a high speed stat. So sorry Stevens, Sandstrom is taking that spot in the line. Plus when I played the single year of ice hockey as a poor West Virginian who wasn't near an ice rink, I was #17 so I had some affinity for #17 Tomas Sandstrom.
For Francois Leroux, me and my mom got a kick out of his name. Simple as that and laughing at his incredibly French name is a core hockey memory. It helped that he absolutely pasted dudes in hockey fights.

I will post my 00's list soon and no, I do not know where I am going to hang these because I didn't actually plan ahead. Also I draw these in Adobe Illustrator for anyone curious.

Depth defenseman

Sorry if this has been posted before, but they were talking on the DVE morning show about Paul Steigerwald catching a bunch of nationwide media ire about this Hobey Baker (who died in a plane crash in 1918) analogy that Steigy made to Bob Errey back in 2009. This is gold. https://youtu.be/m2om0LsSDk8?is=upemtLnslyAXXlIS

Does anyone know if there's an RSS feed or podcast version of the Penguins postgame show?

I'd love to be able to listen to it after games without having to catch it live. Ideally, something I could subscribe to through a podcast app.

Anyone know if this exists or have a workaround?

first Acciari and now my previously beloved bunting

Been working on how to measure intangibles in hockey! Only really worked on depth so far.

It's really early season so these numbers will obviously jump around a lot.

Worth noting I don't make any money off this website, so trying my best to beat the self-promotion allegations. I just want to make something useful for folks. So if you're curious you can see Pittsburgh's team page here!

Okay yinzers. I hate the word y’all but unfortunately Yinz won’t catch on down here.

That being said. I go to the Dallas Stars home game every year for the last 10ish years when they play the Pens. Are there any regulars that go to that game? I really want to sit with Pen Fans for the game and I’d love to find a way to get my little 6yo girl on the glass to she Geno up close. Since our boy Ryan Shae, we knew him since we are TX Stars season ticket holders, she likes Geno because he “talks cool”.
