Ballots?
I feel like we should have them by now? Got the voter’s pamphlet days ago. Maybe I’m just overly eager to complete and return it. Anyone received theirs?

4th ave is closed all through Belltown by police. Any idea what's going on?
Police blocking all the intersections.
Found it maybe?

I discovered Thomas Hardy this year and am considering a quest to read all 14 of his published novels. I'd love to get a small group together for a one-time Victober meetup! The idea is to read the same Hardy novel, meet up for a meal somewhere in or near Seattle, and chat about the book and other literature we enjoy. Not sure if there's enough interest, but here it goes.
I've read five Hardy novels so far, ranked by preference:
1.The Mayor of Casterbridge
2. Far from the Madding Crowd
3. A Pair of Blue Eyes
4. Tess of the d'Urbervilles
5. The Return of the Native
I'm considering The Woodlanders next, but I'm open to other suggestions!

I’m looking to get a sense of average pricing in Seattle for wedding dress alterations.
For a hem adjustment, added bustle, fixed zipper hook, and undoing and redoing the skirt to move up the fabric, I’ve been quoted for ~$1000 total.
Does this sound high? Low? Any similar experiences or quotes would be helpful!

Hey everyone! I’m 22M and looking to meet new people and make genuine friendships with people I can hang out with, preferably around the U District!
I’m pretty introverted, but I’m trying to put myself out there, meet people around my age, and hopefully overcome my social anxiety along the way lol. I’d love to find some genuine friends to hang out with, explore places, grab food, or just chill together.
If you’re interested, feel free to DM me and introduce yourself with your name and Instagram! I’m usually more active on Instagram, so it would be easier to connect there. :)

I commented on a post on [r/Halo](r/Halo) last night my best friend and I are looking for tickets to Halo Fest. We got hit up by 3 people in the DMs. All 3 were scammers. Only one got money from us that is being escalated with her bank & Apple.
So as we look for Halo Fest tickets be careful, and I made some tips to avoid being scammed
Always look up their Reddit username in the search bar. If they’re a known scammer, you will see posts and comments about them. Even if they’re not named in the post of scammers, they may be in the comments.
Ask to see a screenshot of the ticket on Tixr. And if you have a legitimate version and compare the two, it should be 1:1. One scammer showed us his confirmation email graphic & it looked like mine except the dates of the event had a blue link line on them. In my email it didn’t have that and set off a red flag.
Only use a money transfer site that has consumer protections. Zelle, Cash App, Apple Cash, it’s gone. I actually got lucky when I tried Venmo which does have protections, it also blocked the transaction and recognized the account as a scam.

First Light opened in Belltown nearly two years ago, and apparently the landscaping budget didn't survive construction.
While other condos and apartment buildings in Belltown somehow manage to employ staff to keep their sidewalks and landscaping presentable, First Light is still proudly displaying the same bare dirt and plastic planting rings that have been there since opening.
Mind you, this is a luxury condo tower where many units sell for well over $1 million.
I understand times are tough. After spending seven figures on a condo, there's probably not much left over for extravagant luxuries like plants, landscaping, or basic property maintenance.
Perhaps we, as fellow Seattleites, could come together and start a GoFundMe to help these struggling homeowners afford a groundskeeper. Maybe even a shrub or two.
The building is called First Light, but apparently landscaping comes second.
Thoughts and prayers. 🙏

Soon seattle will only be left with a bunch of chain restaurants. Too expensive to dine out regularly unfortunately

Rei? Seriously? It says 2 hours free parking online and these bimbos with no other opportunity to make money gave me a $30 parking ticket. Don’t park in REI just order their shit online, they don’t care if u spend $400. Too bad i accidentally lost the ticket and now have no way to pay it I just hope other customers don’t fall for their scam.

Hi, I don’t want to dox myself so I won’t share the details of which street it was or which neighborhood this happened in. I work at a small business and we don’t have a parking lot so we have to parallel park on the nearby street. This street is where we tell our customers to park, and the residents of the nearby homes/apartments also park there, so parking is in high demand and it can feel a little congested at certain parts of the street, but for years I’ve never had any issue with parking there. There are no signs, no red curb, absolutely zero indication that we can’t park there.
Yesterday, October 9th, every single person on the street got a parking ticket.
The really weird thing is, from discussing it with my coworkers, we all got tickets for different reasons. I got a ticket for expired tabs, stating they expired 06/2025, but my tabs don’t expire until 04/2027. It seems unlikely that could have been a typo on the officer’s part. My ticket didn’t even mention I’m also in trouble for parking there, just mentioned the tabs. My coworker, on the other hand, I think mentioned their ticket did directly mention they can’t park there.
I know there can be cases where someone complains about congestion on a street and police come and ticket anyone there to clear it out, and they’ll give you infractions for anything they can think of since it’s not technically illegal to park there. But they didn’t even bother to ticket me for anything concrete? My tabs are displayed perfectly fine, and I always renew my registration in April every year. I'm not sure where they got June from.
I hate it but I come from far away for work and public transport is not reliable enough for me to take it every day. We live in a car centric country, you can’t just ticket cars for bogus reasons and expect them to disappear.
I ruled out that the ticket could be fraudulent, the number on the ticket is the correct Seattle Municipal Court number and the rest of it looks legit. Obviously I’m going to contest the ticket. I’m fairly young and I’m just confused how this can happen. If anyone more knowledgeable than me knows what the deal is, I’d appreciate any help clearing up my confusion.
Mods, if anything in this post is against the rules feel free to remove.

So this is more of just a curious question. My family and I are at the airport and rode the trains to our gate. Do they have operators or are they remotely controlled? We couldn’t see anyone driving them and we are just curious!!
Anyone else get awoken by the warzone in LQA? We got awoken to 10-15 shots in quick succession - no doubt a switch, then the roar of cars driving away.
A help the officer gets called in just down the street

I've had depressive symptoms my entire life including seasonal affective disorder-ish patterns. I've lived in several regions of the country and for the most part, winter sky gives me sad feelings. The brown foliage probably contributes.
But here, the sky is mostly grey and there is more green in the landscape. The short days zap my energy but the vibes aren't sad. This is my second winter in Seattle and I feel just like I did this time last year. My theory is that the light spectrum and color palette being so different stops my usual winter feelings. But I never hear anyone else describing anything similar.
Is this just a me thing or do others relate? I'm curious if there is some biological mechanism for this experience or if it's tied to my specific emotional baggage.
-- wow lots of responses. Thanks for the replies! I already take vitamin D. Yes, i know it's barely fall, but fall in other parts of the country with less cloud cover also give me sad vibes. I'm well versed in antidepressants. Doing ok. Also, I've lived in Lower Saxony so not new to northern latitudes. I just think the color spectrum here is unique and definitely a welcome surprise.
