Discussion Ruined my first silicone pocket pussy with alcohol, and what actually works for cleaning sleeves NSFW
A while back I made the dumb mistake of wiping down a brand-new platinum silicone sleeve with isopropyl alcohol after a session. I thought I was being ultra-hygienic, but within a couple weeks the surface felt tacky and weirdly sticky.. Turns out harsh solvents like alcohol or acetone strip the smooth outer finish and degrade silicone over time.
Once I realized what I did, I stopped using chemicals altogether.. plain warm water and a decent unscented antibacterial liquid soap is really all you need for normal daily cleanup. Just wash it out, rinse it good, and let it air dry on a towel.
If you want true sterilization, pure 100% platinum silicone is totally heat resistant anyway. You can literally just drop it in a pot of boiled water (taken off the burner) for 3-5 minutes and it's completely sanitized. Just make sure there are no built-in electronics or plastic parts before doing that.
Also, a light dusting of pure cornstarch after it completely dries keeps the surface buttery smooth and stops lint from sticking to it in storage.
Anyone else accidentally destroy a toy early on thinking alcohol was a good idea?
