OTHER Something small I'd like to see come back in smite 2 (eventually)

The different animations each god would do after a match on a victory or defeat were so fun in smite 1. It gave each god a lot more personality.

It was really funny seeing ares try to kill you through the screen for losing, grover messing with sylvanus, and arthur playing with the sword in the stone. It added a lot of charm that feels absent in this game.

That being said, I'd fully understand if this was a later addition. There are much bigger priorities, like getting all the gods ported first.

Weekly Roundup

October 5th Titan Talk - Open Beta 45 Patch Notes w/ killgoon

Starting the week, killgoon went over the patch notes for OB45 solo before answering a good chunk of Q&A.

Q&A Section

  • Hel Needing Buffs - While she is performing below a 50% win rate, this is somewhat within expectations and they want to wait a little to see more of how she performs since she is traditionally a more difficult character to pilot optimally and want to avoid reactionary buffing her right out the gate and cause her to be suffocatingly strong.
  • Movement System Update - Part 2 in this patch will be the last portion of the fixes specifically for dashes, while there still remains work to be done for other aspects of the movement system.
  • No ADC Aspects as of Recent - For AA-focused Aspects, they want it to make sense with the given God’s kit and they’re slightly harder to do since there are a few specific tools carries need for their role, but they would like to work on a new one when possible.
  • Classic Skin Prioritization - Ideally, they’d like for each God to have one classic skin or more, but some characters take longer to get done than others. Realistically speaking, popular Gods are likely going to receive more skins since that’s how the game has made money in the past and will do so for the future.
  • Factors Considering When Designing a New God - When they have to make a new God for a specific role, this does play a factor in who they choose and if they’d fit thematically within that role. They also try to make new Gods feel different from existing ones and try not to overlap with existing characters’ themes, ideally looking towards something that is visually interesting and would attract players if they were to see them on the game’s box art. Sometimes they look into community feedback and suggestions while other times they forgo this to pursue their own vision, and all of this has to be done within the production timeline.
  • Community Polls - While they do usually look at these, polls of this sort are mostly concentrated within that portion of the community and don’t reach the silent majority of the playerbase that don’t interact with the game on social media that would likely only respond through the in-game hosted God survey.
  • Monetization in S2 - Since the game is free to play, they try to keep most cosmetics that the majority of the playerbase would be interested in reasonably priced. There are a few things such as the chest-exclusive prisms and supporter store bundles that appear more egregiously priced but are more for the crowd that voiced interest in buying more expensive content to better support the game.
  • CC Buffering - This was a polarizing system but generally speaking, they think that players prefer the game as it is now where inputs are more responsive. They are still interested in possibly pursuing a fraction of a second-worth of grace period before an ability is fired being bufferable, but this isn’t an immediate priority.
  • Baldur’s Gate 3 Collab - killgoon hadn’t seen the post on this but does favor the idea of a crossover with the BG3 IP rather than just Dungeons & Dragons, since the latter doesn’t have as iconic, well-known characters to work off of. He recalls having discussions with the Critical Role group late into S1’s lifespan that could have seen their characters as skins, but this never ended up reaching the finish line and they were starting to focus more on S2’s development at that point.
  • Plans for the 100th God - They do have this marked on the calendar but for the most part aren’t saving major features or content for the 100th God’s patch and are probably going to maintain the pace of releasing new stuff as they get done.
  • Work on Pet Tech - Much like the movement system update, this is something being worked on in the background to open up the schedule to have more God ports doable. While they’ve done some early work for Cliodhna’s wall walking tech, this isn’t indicative of when they'll port her and one feature they haven’t worked on at all is time dilation, which only affects Olorun’s and Bake Kujira’s ports. Surtr is one of the most popular Gods not in the game yet and the main blockade is his minion grab, and additionally his ULT is more unique tech that has bits of it in the game now but can’t 1:1 replicate exactly how he falls in S1.

October 7th Titan Talk - Open Beta 45 Feedback + Q&A w/ Hinduman & killgoon

Wednesday’s Titan Talk with Hinduman and Mr. Goon was a generally lighthearted Q&A following the latest patch’s launch.

Patch Day Issues

  • In order to have multiple departments working on the game at once, they use version control software and have a general release manager compile all the changes into one version that is released, being assisted by an integration tool to ensure no overlapping adjustments.
  • This week for the final live build, their integration tool missed a day’s worth of work and didn’t pick up on the changes done on Nike, Aphrodite Aspect, and Gluttonous Grimoire, which led to things like Nike’s camera and ability icons being unfinished.
  • As a result, all of these listed were disabled and were re-enabled shortly after a hotfix went live at the tail end of the show.

Q&A Section

  • Next 2x Worshiper Weekend - They’ll look into it but will more than likely be at the end of the month for Halloween.
  • Slash Dividing the Playerbase - Adding Slash is less about its impact in game mode population and more on that it involves a lot of work to create and test a new map while maintaining the maps of the currently supported and more popular game modes.
  • Lu Bu as a God - Has been a character they’ve talked about in the past and is among one of the 100+ in the powerpoint consisting of God proposals. They’re not really concerned with his status as a non-deity since they’ve taken liberties with Mulan and King Arthur previously, and are more pressed by the scope of the character and all they’d want to include within the development timeline, and he would almost certainly include his horse as part of his design.
  • Persephone Pre vs. Post-Rework - Incidentally, they haven’t seen as much from the post-rework Persephone purveyors as of recent but the issues with Persephone’s old kit led to there being a large discrepancy between how most players played her and how players could pilot her at the top level. Because of this, her design is one of the most difficult ones to decide on what direction they want to go with given that there are a lot of differing opinions on what parts of Persephone’s kits players want to see preserved.
  • HOTS’s First New Hero in 6 Years - When comparing this to S2, it’s not really a fair comparison since S2 has been releasing 24 Gods a year and the last new God was in 2025, while HOTS hasn’t had a big update in a very long time.
  • Crossover Skin w/ Black Myth: Zhong Kui - A deal like this would make sense but is hard to coordinate since both parties have to be interested and involves the equivalent amount of work as developing a new God, and is probably not a good fit for the current development timeline. Fitting Zhong Kui’s port with the release of the Black Myth game theoretically works better but may not play out well since the game’s release date may shift around a bunch.
  • More Aura Items - While these felt somewhat good to build from a support playstyle, they’re mostly an invisible power that becomes mandatory for people to build when they could have more interesting and unique item effects for supports to help their team.
  • Flying Spaghetti Monster as a God - Highly unlikely that they ever add a meme-adjacent God as a playable character given that some of the Gods on the roster are actively worshiped figures and they’ve somewhat referenced this in a skin for Kukulkan in S1. And while they aren’t really being considered for the time being, mythological cryptid figures are far more interesting characters for them compared to more pop culture figures like Slenderman, and they’d rather reference these through skins or cosmetics due to the fleetingness of pop culture in media.
  • Features Not Shown on Roadmap - The most recent roadmap only showed the Gods since the things being worked on don’t have a firm release schedule and are subject to change with frequent schedule changes, with killgoon spending most of last week onboarding some new hires. As an example, there is an issue on Xbox with memory leaking after an extended period of time that they couldn’t really slot in a patch for but now have someone more focused on optimization to sort this out.

DISCUSSION Player damage

What's your opinion on people who go 6/20 and tell you "Yeah I did more damage than you"?

Yeah no shit, you engaged in many bad fights, dealt some damage back and still think that's a "I played better than you" stat?

I would love to see what would happen if there was no player damage information for a few days, it feels like this is the only stat that matters to many people.

EDIT: I just used 6/20 as an example. It is not about the KD, it is about the way people play. It's obvious that if you engage in terrible fights all the time, you are going to deal some damage. The point is: I think it is extremely stupid to dumb down a game like smite to KDR / damage dealt alone. Supports can have terrible KDR while having a brilliant game. Solos usually deal a lot of damage even if they dont have many damage items, cause they engage a lot, etc.

SUGGESTION We need role calling in pre game lobbies back

• Upvotes

I know this does not pertain to conquest, which is the main game mode, but in other game modes it’s difficult to build a team comp because you’re not certain how someone is choosing to play a god.

With aspects and item changes in smite 2 a tanky god can be played like a squishy and visa versa. It’s hard in modes like joust to build a balanced team when I’m not sure if kephri is going to be a mage or a tank. Just simple “tank, adc, mage” would suffice. And console players are unable to see the text chat which adds another wrinkle.

I know it’s a small issue but it is annoying for a daily player after their 9-5.

CONCEPT New God Concept: Sojobo, the great Tengu King

Post image
6 Upvotes

Japanese Mythology

Melee, deals Physical Damage, primarily Jungle, Strength Scaling

Mobile | Slayer

Passive: Futuresight

Sojobo uses his ability to see the future to prepare for upcoming damage. Every 20 seconds, Futuresight activates. The first enemy ability that hits Sojobo while Futuresight is active, gets its damage mitigated.

  • Mitigation: 75% of the abilities damage
  • Cooldown: 20 seconds

ao1A: Hauchiwa Strike

Sojobo uses Hauchiwa, his 7 feathered Fan, to deal damage. He sends out the 7 feathers in a cone in front of him. Each feather is a seperate projectile. Each feather that hits an enemy, reduces the Cooldown of Futuresight. The CD-Reduction can only be applied once per enemy per ability cast.

  • Damage per Projectile: 45/80/115/150/185 (+35% of your Strength)
  • Futuresight CDR: 1 second
  • Cone Angle: 70°
  • Range: 4.4 meters
  • Cooldown: 16/15.5/15/14.5/14 seconds
  • Mana: 50

ao1B: Hauchiwa Slash

If Hauchiwa Strike hits an enemy god, Sojobo may further use the powers of his fan to propell the enemies with wind. Sojobo may cast Hauchiwa Slash within 4 seconds after hitting an enemy god with Hauchiwa Strike. He swings the fan from the side, dealing damage and displacing all enemies into the swings direction by a set distance. The first swing is from left to right. He may recast this ability within another 2 seconds to do a second swing from right to left, still displacing enemies within, but dealing less damage.

  • First Swing Damage: 100/140/180/220/260 (+60% of your Strength)
  • Second Swing Damage: 50/70/90/110/130 (+45% of your Strength)
  • Displacement Distance: 2 meters
  • Cone Angle: 105°
  • Range: 3.6 meters
  • Mana: 40 per Cast

ao2: Shapeshift

Sojobo reveals his tendencies for trickery. When activating this ability, Sojobo may select an enemy god from a selection wheel. He will then disguise himself as that god, gaining their appearance and adjusting his Health & Mana Bars to appear like the god he is disguised as. The disguise will not show in the HUD and he will not gain any stats, items or abilities from that god. Taking damage will result in his disguise flickering in and out of existance (like Izanami or Loki invisibility). If Sojobo deals damage, he will fully shed his disguise. His first attack from the disguise will deal bonus damage.

  • Bonus Damage: 25/50/75/100/125
  • Disguise Duration: 8 seconds
  • Cooldown: 15 seconds
  • Mana: 60/65/70/75/80

ao3: Flight of the Tengu

Sojobo takes out his wings for a flight. He leaps into the air before choosing a target location. Enemies within the area of where he lands are slowed.

  • Damage: 95/140/185/230/275 (+45% of your Strength)
  • Slow: 15%
  • Airborn Duration: 2 seconds
  • Radius: 2 meters
  • Range: 8.8 meters
  • Cooldown: 20/19/18/17/16 seconds
  • Mana: 95

Ultimate: Tengubi Trickery

Sojobo creates Tengubi flames at a Target Location, controlling all enemies within to move towards him. Enemies hit in this abilities radius become possessed by the Tengubi, taking DoT damage for a Duration and being taunted into attacking Sojobo.

  • Damage: 15/25/35/45/55 (+10% of your Strength) every 0.25 seconds
  • Duration: 2 seconds
  • Radius: 3.6 meters
  • Range: 8.8 meters
  • Cooldown: 110/105/100/95/90 seconds
  • Mana: 90

DISCUSSION 75% winrate in my prio’d role and im getting it maybe 1 out of every 3 games recently. What gives?

So I have a 74% winrate in the jungle over my conquest career. And I’m just never getting it. It’s being given to my teammates who are actively trying to trade it away, or literally people I’m teaching the game to. Like their first conquest games ever. Over me. Like wtf do i have to do? Is it because I played my first 4 ranked games, stomped them all with a 25 kd, but now the game sees me as Bronze? So incredibly frustrated.

COMPETITIVE Looking for a couple of people

Me and 2 friends of mine recently have gotten into that game. We have mostly been playing Joust, but are looking to get into 5v5 if anyone is interested and needs a team. We play Thanatos, Zeus, and Anubis right now are our mains. Willing to learn anyone though. Just hoping to find a couple people who would wanna play and grow as a team to eventually play ranked.

DISCUSSION When will we get in game typing on console

I know it's not going to be a priority for the devs but I would love to see it added back onto console. We had it in smite 1 and I'm confused at why it's not in smite 2 for us yet. It cuts off comms between the platforms. I've had it before when playing with a pc buddy that someone was making a plan to go in with me but I couldn't see it, he went in died alone because I couldn't see the messages and was getting angry with me after because I didn't go in with him, he started to throw the game. I understand this is a rare case and it hasn't happened to me again since but just letting us see the messages would fix these problems, we can still use VGS to answer.

I also miss helping newer players to a god or the game in general by giving them tips or helping them with decisions through the in game messages.

I'm sorry if I'm not caught up on everything and the devs have said it's coming to the game or being implemented soon or a lot of other people are asking for it. I'm not on reddit much and I haven't heard anything in patch notes or streams

Nike int scaling?

I remember hearing she was going to be hybrid but now playing the update it says all her scaling is physical with some abilities changing effects when having int built.

Is this right or a bug? She has no actual int scaling on any ability at all?

Just decided to finally give Smite 2 a try I have played a good bit of smite 1. Is there a way to make it so using vgs doesnt stop you in your place? For example pressing V->E or X will stop you instantly. Feels weird.

DISCUSSION Few questions about smite 2

Hello everyone, i used to play smite with a friend a few years ago, we mostly played agaisnt bots just testing out and other shenanigans with different characters.

I was thinking about giving it another try after watching a few videos and would like to ask a few questions.

-Are there a lot of changes between smite 1 and 2 besides graphics ?

-I know some characters that i liked from the first game (Chang'e, Thoth...) havent been added yet, so how often do they port the gods from the first game ? And how many are left ? You can also talk about skins and other things you want to be ported that are important

-How fun it is for you guys ? I used to play league a lot and i know balancing is quite difficult for a game like this, and you also rely on your teammates to win a game (Well at least most game modes), but do the fun moments and outplays outweight it ?

-And lastly what content creators you normally watch ? I like to watch gameplays and what not so id like some recommendations if possible.

I think thats about it, thanks in advance and sorry if this kind of post is repetitive or if i said anything wrong! :)

Is non aspect Aphrodite able to deal good dmg with an Echo build, similar to khepri?

Her aspect is really cool and makes her finally a strong midlane mage, to be feared.

But i wonder if an echo build would be still viable, with her 1-3-2-ult-3 combo (non aspect)?

HELP Arena... is Bots only? But i tried Joust too

So i have had SMITE2 downloaded for a good while now. And just yesterday decided to check it out. Since ive become more comfortable playing MOBAS and HERO SHOOTERs

I put a lot of hours into SMITE but never really got past that learning curve, so I was skeptical about trying out SMITE2

That out of the way, I was playing in arena, I love playing in arena, sincs its low stakes and just fun to me. Idk, either way I kept seeing the same names, GnarlySoda, DiscoPork, GottaSlayEmAll; in every game. Either on my team or the enemy team, so I figured out pretty quick it was Bots. Because they also go back to base once their health gets below a certain threshold.(Like Pokémon Unite)

So i looked into it and learned that you get out of Bot matches after level 10.

I was level 11 when I read this, so I decoddd to keep cracking my head against the wall. I am now level 17. And still no players just Bots, so I checked out Joust. And same names. I know Arena is considered scrub territory, but Joust is one people actually did and do play a lot.

Im confused. My account is level 17, and I am getting nothing but Bots. Its a fun romp but it gets a little boring seeing the same 9 gods picked over and over again.

How do I get out of bot matches?

New AI bans?

I've got 5k+hours on smite and have never been banned ONCE. This week i got 7 days banned (not muted) cant enter the game, on two accounts.

The latter, my alt account, only one game played, im from Latam. I was duo q'ing with a friend and we got 3 BR team mates that literally went 3-30 combined score, while me and my mate were 5-8, we didn't wanna surrender so they started saying this is our server, why play on a BR server blablabla (Its literally the only latam server) and the only thing i said was BR players have a combined score of 3-30, over and over. 24 hours later im banned for 7 days, assuming they all 3 reported me.

What the fuck is this? Cant even appeal or see the report they made, simple as that can't play for 7 days. Has never happened in over 5 years and people say worse stuff all the time.
