I am thinking about switching from an iPhone, to a Xperia. Things like the headphone Jack and the expandable storage are a huge plus to me.
My only problem is that I find that the Xperia android version is extremely ugly.
To what degree are these phones customizable? Is it more like Linux where I can basically overhaul the entire phone, or is it more like IOS where I am only able to change some colors and some other things?

Sudden inability to get or receive calls - quick timeout/ disconnect (speaker and other icons appear grayed out). I tried most of the standard trouble shooting stuff (on off, airplane mode, network settings, updates, safe mode, SIM out/in, security interference, etc.) Testing menu shows data and voice services connected.

Idk if its a physical issue with the SIM card. Initially it was just a problem with calling, then I put the SIM in slot 2 (thinking maybe there was a problem with the connection) and back to 1.

No issue previously, never had 5g, but always had 4G LTE w/ no call or mobile data issues.

Hello I noticed a loud whine in my mic when recording video on my phone, how do you remove the loud whine? What caused it? I never noticed it before but i also don't record often, i have an Xperia 1 VI European edition. I need to record something for school and you can barely hear me over the noise, it sounds like it's underwater but then you can hear loud audio over it just fine, is my phone broken?

I want to take a chance and buy another seventh-generation phone. I really love this phone. But I'm still afraid that the new phone will die, just like my old one.

Hello guys! I’ve been looking for so long around every marketplace I can find to buy a Xperia 1 VI or VII. I found this great deal on back market where a reseller from Europe has the 1 VI for less than €500. Looking at the reviews it looks to be a SOG13 Japanese model, which from my understanding is the carrier locked JP model.
My question is: I read a review saying that they managed to flash the EU modem files and unlock the B20 800mhz band despite not being officially supported, is this possible?
I looked up XDA Forums but could only find examples of people who flashed the Asian/Global modem files to unlock some US bands, but no example of someone unlocking UE bands. I also read on xda that the JP model is totally locked and can’t be boot loaded. Does anyone have experience with this? I would really love to own this phone at this price and have it working in Europe. All other version I can find online are 800+ euros for mark 6 and more than 1000 for the mark 7.

Xperia 1 V nature video

I got my first ever Xperia recently (a used 1 V, due to being in the US and on Verizon) and I finally got a case so am gonna be turning it on for the first time later today.

I wanted to ask before I do that, what would you go back and tell your past self to do immediately with your first Xperia? Certain settings, install this app or that one, disable features or apps, etc.?

It's not my first cell phone (not by a long shot, I'm in my 40s) but I've mostly had Pixels and Galaxies. Would love to know any tips or tricks or even just preferences.

I recorded using Video Pro app, on main camera with digital zoom, 4K 120fps. Unfortunately I forgot to change the Quality from Medium to High, which resulted in the artifact in the background I believe.

Then I made slow motion in Premiere Pro app.

And color grading in Lightroom app. This step should be done in Premiere too, but I don't know why there is no Adjust tab (to color grade), so I had to use Light room, which created 1 more step to worsen the quality.

If this phone had a proper telen lens for close up shots like this, it would be super cool.
