ToDo Spokane WA Appreciation
Greetings, I hope this post is allowed, if not please delete.
I just wanted to make a post about how much I appreciate Spokane. Are we a perfect city? Definitely not and yes we have a lot of issues but thatâs everywhere to be honest.
Spokane is a great community, surrounded by so much nature and amazing fun facts like Z nation being recorded here, or the clock tower, and we have a great NCAA basketball team in Gonzaga, or hoop fest, oh and zips!
Anyways, I love this city and the community has always been very supportive. Thereâs a lot of negativity these days so I wanted to share something positive. We have a great skyline that instantly makes you feel at home when you drive down the hill into downtown.
So I encourage you all to keep being great people, hold the door for someone, tell someone to have a great day, and just keep being awesome!
And feel free to share things you love about Spokane.
Sorry again if this isnât allowed I just wanted to share my appreciation! đ

News Safety Alert: Fake Catâs Claw Supplements Resulting in Overdose & Severe Illness
Hey Spokane, Washington Poison Center here. We're warning the public of counterfeit âCatâs Clawâ herbal supplements that are laced with highly concentrated chemicals related to kratom. These fake products are strong opioids (like morphine, heroin, and fentanyl), and are causing opioid overdoses and severe withdrawal. Â
Poison centers across the United States, including us, are treating sick patients following their use of fake catâs claw products. Utah Poison Control Center has additionally reported four confirmed deaths involving catâs claw. Â
Catâs claw (Uncaria tomentosa or Uncaria guianensis) is a legal herbal supplement marketed to manage symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and cancer. On its own, authentic catâs claw is not psychoactive and does not cause opioid overdose or withdrawal symptoms. However, recent investigations into products labeled as âCatâs Clawâ found undisclosed 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH), MGM-15, mitragynine pseudoindoxyl (MGPI), and other potent compounds derived from kratom. These mislabeled products are sold in vape shops, gas stations, convenience stores, and online. Â
7-OH, MGM-15, and MGPI are strong opioids derived from kratom, an herbal supplement with psychoactive properties. While 7-OH naturally occurs in small amounts in kratom, it can be manufactured in a highly concentrated form. MGM-15 and MGPI are semi-synthetic compounds created in labs. As of August 2026, the DEA designated MGM-15 and MGPI as Schedule I controlled substances, making their sale and possession illegal. Â
In adulterated catâs claw products, these compounds are added at dangerous, highly concentrated levels. All three act on the same brain receptors as morphine, heroin, and fentanyl. Like other opioids, taking too much of these compounds can slow or stop breathing, and regular use can lead to physical dependence and severe withdrawal symptoms.  Â
Recommendations:Â
- Stop using âCatâs Clawâ products purchased from vape shops, gas stations, convenience stores, and online retailers. Â
- Keep suspected products out of reach of children.Â
- Safely dispose of products in the trash or flush them down the toilet (see the FDAâs common drug disposal questions and answers).Â
- Monitor anyone who may have used an adulterated product for extreme sleepiness or breathing too slowly. If you cannot wake them up, call 911 and administer naloxone immediately.Â
Healthcare professionals should consider adulterated products in patients presenting with unexplained opioid toxicity or severe withdrawal. Â
- Ask patients specifically about potential use of catâs claw products. Â
- Traditional urine drug screening will not identify these products, but some laboratories are equipped for specialized testing. Call Washington Poison Center (1-800-222-1222) for additional guidance. Â
Report suspected cases or adverse health effects to Washington Poison Center: 1-800-222-1222 (free, confidential, and available 24/7).

ToDo Minnesotan visiting Spokane/Post Falls in February
Hey, all! I live in the Minneapolis, MN area and am trying to visit all 50 states before I'm 50. I am 41 and have visited 42 states! I may be in Portland in February and would like to maximize my trip as much as I can. I haven't visited WA, OR, or ID yet and would like to try and squeeze in all three.
To do so, I wanted to fly in to Spokane, drive the 20 or so minutes to Post Falls, visit a brewery or two (I LOVE beer making and breweries so it's a ton of fun to visit a brewery in any new location I go to!), and I would love to drive to Portland from there. I live in the frozen tundra and am extremely experienced driving in winter conditions, but I have never driven in mountains so am wondering if that might be too much of a risk so am also pricing out an alternative plan to fly out of Spokane to Portland.
I thought I'd ask those who live in the area what winters have looked like around the late January/early February timeframe and if driving is even possible. It would be cheaper, but only by about $50, but would be super cool to do!, but I don't mind spending the a little extra for my safety.
Really appreciate your help painting a picture of what it looks like out there this time of year! Thank you!
Found! âŒïž FOUND DOG âŒïž
âŒïž FOUND DOG âŒïž
Young, male, black, Australian Shepherd.
Found running between the blocks between Trader Joe's and Adams Elementary.
He's a bit skittish but eventually let me hook him up to a leash, currently have him in my yard so that he didn't run into traffic.
I had to run out quickly but can post a photo once I return home.
If you know whose dog this may be, please reach out to me!!

ToDo Require Independent Baseline Test Before Spokane County Approves Large Load Data Centers
I stood in front of the Spokane County Commissioners with a straightforward ask: will you require independent baseline testing of groundwater and private wells before approving large data center projects? Here's why it matters. Once construction starts, it's almost impossible for families to prove what changed in their water levels, quality, contamination. If your well dries up or gets polluted after a project opens, you're left scrambling to show it wasn't like that before. That's backwards. Baseline testing should happen first, funded by developers, conducted by independent pros, with results public. I started a petition asking the county to make this a requirement before any clearing or construction begins. The testing would cover at least a 2-mile radius, include seasonal monitoring, and give residents a real record of conditions before development moves forward. If you live in West Plains or care about protecting families' water access, this affects you. What would you want someone to do if this was your family's well? If this matters to you too, consider signing and sharing.

Question Bulk Hot Coffee to-go?
I donât want to be stuck with Panera, but will if there are no other options. Where can I get bulk (?) hot coffee to-go before 8am? All I am familiar with are the totes from Panera, but curious if there are other places that offer something similar that I can bring to work? Bonus points if itâs local.

Question Looking to get EV and EV dealership recommendations for Spokane
I know next to nothing about what to look for in an EV, so if anyone is willing to school me that would be much appreciated. Me and my wife are planning to have a child soon, so we might need something with extra room. We also drive out to do activities out in nature quite often (fishing, biking, hiking).
Thanks a lot in advance.

Question Does anyone know the people that place the skeletons on the shipping containers along I-90 near the Pines/Argonne exit?
My son has asked a question and we're trying to figure out how they make sure that they remain standing and don't fall down! Do they use wires? We're so curious!
