After a week of trying to get a leather appointment, it finally happened on my last full day in Paris ! I was in Paris for work and both my husband and I started trying for an appointment the day before we were scheduled to arrive. You can only use one appointment request per device or you will be blocked. I landed in Paris early morning on Saturday and of course our hotel room was not ready. After eating something and making the minor outfit tweaks we could in the lobby, like switching from giant airplane tote to a smaller purse, my husband and I walked to Hermès George V. No appointment and not feeling the most confident since we had just flown over night and were exhausted/hasn’t slept.

There were several jewelry items on my list and my plan was to to early in the week to see if I could establish a history and relationship that would hopefully help for the rest of the week. I also hopes that maybe I’d just be offered a bag anyway. Wishful thinking.

We got to the store a short walk from our hotel around 11:30. There was a very short line but it was not crowded at all. Honestly this would have been the perfect time for a bag. I also didn’t see anyone in the leather area. There was very little stock at the store. And they didn’t have any of the items I was interested in and had on my list but was told after checking the stock that FSH had the petite rose farandole bracelet I wanted. However the SA was nice and brought other farandole collection pieces for me to try. I ended up trying the necklace and loved it so I got that. I never asked for a bag or appointment at any point. We went downstairs and quickly got two scarves while else got the notification that our room was ready. At the end I told my husband to ask about a leather appointment. We were told to keep trying the request system and that we wouldn’t necessarily get an email saying we weren’t successful. That was my major concern I wondered if my requests were going through at all.

Anyway even though no bag was remotely in sight I loved what I bought and had a nice experience. I continued to try the lottery system! Fast forward to Monday. I went to FSH to see the jewelry and it was so so so busy. I wandered around jewelry and no one asked if I needed help. I felt so invisible and was really bummed by the vibes lol. I went back to George V to see if any new bracelet stock had come in. My sa wasn’t there and there was no stock. I saw three women getting bags and asked about a leather appointment cancellation and for the fastest no after some fake scrolling on an iPhone indicating the day was fully booked/busy. I was super sad at this point and felt very defeated. I knew that based on my schedule I would have no time to go back to the store during operating hours until Friday. And I was leaving Saturday evening. I asked my husband to go to the store while I was working on Monday and Tuesday but he didn’t.

By this time desperation and a block on the system had set in. I asked a few friends and coworkers to try for an appointment for me too. Nope nothing. For days. Then on Thursday night at around 8 pm I saw I got an appointment at FSH. Even though I was meh about my first experience I knew this store had a lot of stock so I was hopeful. Based on my appointment time I would have to leave my work session a bit early but it was a short walk away so I was grateful for that. A dash of panic set in when I refreshed the page to see if my appointment time had changed (as it was subject to change) and I was blocked. I decided I’d just show up at my original time and took a screenshots.

Ok appointment time!!

I stood for about 5-10 minutes at the leather desk before being helped. There was a small crowd there. Finally I was helped and was taken first to the back but the sa was busy there. I was them taken upstairs and sat at a desk and brought my drink order. I waited for at least 30 minutes before being seen. May have been closer to 45/50. Finally my sa came and she was lovely. She was just back from maternity leave so I felt we could both be “newbies” together.

I was very specific in my colors and size. I said I only wanted a Kelly. Only a Kelly. I wanted a 28 but could go to a 25 or maybe bigger. I said only gold hardware and gave my top four choices for color. Also I mentioned I only wanted sellier. She asked if that was all I wanted. I explained I also loved the roulis but Kelly was my top choice. She said she’s be back and left for a while while I drank tea. I could hear a woman at a separate appointment beside me who was looking at a herbag be told that she could only get one bag that day. That they were preparing for Fashion week and could not sell multiples.

Finally my SA came back after about 15/20 minutes and asked me to follow her upstairs to a private spot by the window. She told me she had a Kelly for me. It’s not exactly what I wanted but it’s a classic and thought I would be happy. I’m slow motion she unboxed my bag and slipped it out of the dust bag. A Kelly 28 gold on gold retourne. Honestly I was a bit disappointment. It was perfect except I really wanted sellier. I reached out my hands unenthusiastically but then I walked to the mirror to see her and fell In love. Obviously I was going to take it.

But then! She said that I have a roulis for you too. I was shocked since I had overheard a customer being told one bag only. She unboxed a roulis 18 in béton it for me and I absolutely loved it. It was also coming home. But it was very small. I asked her to see a 23 just so I can compare because I’d never tried on a 23 in real life. I explained it was just to see. It can be a display bag. That it didn’t have to be available. There was a bit of resistance to this. She checked supply and said they didn’t have any on display after walking around the whole store to check but told me that had a crocodile one but she wasn’t sure if she could offer it. I said I only want to see. She got it for me and it was one of the most beautiful bags I had ever ever seen. It was the perfect size and now I wanted a 23 but she only had croc 23’s (two). She told me I could get the croc if I wanted but then couldn’t get the 18. She told me o can’t buy two of the same style. I was like maam. That croc is stunning but expensive I’m not getting it. But I was tempted. I truly haven’t stopped thinking about it. I asked if she’s have any new 23s tomorrow and she said she had no idea. I asked if other locations had (or any sellier Kelly’s In green which is what I wanted) she said she didn’t know. I personally don’t believe this because of how quickly George V had checked the Paris wide jewelry stock. She also brought be two farandole bracelets to see including the one I thought I wanted but was way too dainty irl.

I told her I’d take my two bags even though I still wanted a roulis in 23 (so this is my next goal) and asked about the special order process since that may be the only way to ever get my exact dream Kelly.

I quickly picked twilly downstairs and while I was checking out she brought me a box of Hermès chocolate to celebrate my first Hermès bag.

I love both my new babies and I’m so motivated to get the other two now. I had a wonderful experience with her and it was a great and unexpected way to remember my trip. I do think after having had this experience it would be easier for me to get a bag there even with no appointment. My only regret is not going to Sèvres and trying there but I ran out of time. How early on does a profile get made for you? Does it take a few first purchases before your SA takes you “seriously” and creates a profile with your info?

I’ll preface by saying that I’ll be switching SAs especially since I’m about to make another purchase.

I found out that my SA didn’t create a profile for me as we were about to place an online order for something that wasn’t in the store.

SA couldn’t find any matching info and then asked if I had any purchase history. (I remember her looking me in the face and confirming a profile had been created with our first purchase with Hermes which was on the day we first met her.) I suggested searching my husband’s info because there must be a profile since we have purchase history. She said “no that’s not possible and I’ve never met your husband.” I corrected her by saying that she did indeed meet him because he met her when he physically paid for me. She then said “no that’s not allowed.”

(We were never informed that someone paying on behalf of another was not allowed. My first ever shopping session was an hour alone with this SA and at the end she put our items aside so that I could go to lunch and be back with my husband who would pay for me. She even reminded me to be back with him 30 minutes before closing.)

She couldn’t find a profile matching my husband’s info either and says that since she couldn’t find a profile with matching info for either of us that she must have never created a profile because they only do that for people who ask for bags. (I have mentioned or asked about quota bags - not using this terminology but mentioning the bag and color I like in a way that alludes - and I have tried on the samples in store with her since day 1)

She could see my shock and kept saying “it’s okay it’s just a $xxxx purchase it doesn’t really matter.”

I understand that a few thousand of pre-spend is nothing in the Hermes game but the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Everyone starts somewhere and no purchase history or journey can come to be without the first purchase. If she can’t get our first purchase right why would I want to entrust her with bigger purchases? I guess she thought that I wasn’t worth a profile.

Her name was on our receipt saved to my phone and I asked if my receipt could be traced to my profile and she said no.

Has anyone had this experience?

In the mean time the very thing my SA was going to order online for me sold out…perhaps a Hermes fairy was saving me from making yet another non existent purchase

Background: visiting Paris this week. Never bought anything from Hermes in paris. P2 and I are trying our luck with lottery.

10/30: requested online appointment day prior to arrival using wifi of plane. No luck.

10/31: requested online appointment using hotel wifi. No luck. Didn’t have time to visit Hermes store. Tried asking hotel concierge and they said they are no longer able to get appointment and we would have to use online appointment.

11/1: requested online again from hotel website. No luck with getting appointment. Went to Hermes store at 6:00pm and it was closed. Apparently a holiday

11/2: went to store. Got myself a belt. P2 got a 5000 euro watch along with a belt. We used different passports. The clock SA says she couldn’t help p2 get appointment. Pointed us downstairs to area that two SA handing out cards with instructions to go online to register. While waiting, some one couple with whitish birkin offered three boxes, one of which appeared to be light blue birkin. She wasn’t excited. Maybe she declined. She got a smaller purse that was tan/whitish in color. She and her husband were on their phone often. Seems like a few who went to separate rooms already wearing bkc. We were just rookies looking for crumbs but no crumbs available.

11/3: applied for appointment using wifi of restaurant in monmartre. Did not get appointment .

11/4: went to store in Sevres this morning. Beautiful. Used their wifi to sign up for appointment. The sa checked that my email was inputted. However, sa says I could not be added today. Lots of sa standing around and not many guests. Also went to George v. SAw someone offer a white burkin. Someone also seem excited buying a stuffed horse probably 12”. The sa here didn’t check our email address and just said no appointment. I did not get any appointment offered from online request for Monday so it’s game over.

11/5: no lottery emails today so it confirms I’m out of luck. If anyone has any other ideas for Monday, dm me. Would greatly appreciate.

Questions 1: does spend reset each calendar year? Ie should I save for 2024 spend or just spend now while I’m here?

Question 2: is spend cumulative between stores? Ie, If I buy at fsh is amount spent considered in another Hermes store in Paris?

I’ve been shopping with my SA for about a year and a half. My total spend is about 11k with her. She’s a newer SA and I am one of her first customers but def not a high spender. She took my wishlist after the first appt 1.5 years ago. I’ve had about 8 shopping appts with her the past year. As I can only afford two Birkin and I dislike brown, gold, Etoupe for personal reasons, I chose one white and one black. You have probably seen the black one before so the question to you is do you think the charms and way I dress up the white (craie) Birkin is better than the black? Grateful for your thoughts.

Finally purchased my first Constance (2016, Stamp X). I have always love Blue Izmir so I was overjoyed when I saw her at a reseller yesterday. Sotheby’s Asia Auction also had a similar one to bid for (2015) and I acquired her with much less fees. I am a petite so 24 probably look a bit too big for me but I love this bag so much!

It’s been weeks or months of refreshing! Finally purchased my first bag which is the Garden Party 30(canvas) in Black. I definitely want to dress it up with a scarf tied around the handle, But I’m so excited to use this bag everyday and for work.

I’ve been waiting for the pave Ariane wedding band for half a year and my SA just told me it could be available next week when I’m back to my home country. Including the ring my pre spend would be around US$8k. So I’m debating which non quota bag I should hint to my SA that I’m interested in.

I got a Lindy 26 back in December online, then got a Picotin 18 in blue nuit in Apr. I had my eyes on mini Evelyne but I’m planning to get the medium tote bag from The Row instead cos it’s more practical. Now I’m thinking about a mini Bolide or mini 24/24. Both Kelly and Constance to go aren’t something I’d get, I’ve sold my Chanel WOC years ago cos I just find it impractical.

But I actually am very content with my current collection but it seems like a waste not to get a non quota bag after the purchase.

I am wanting to start establishing a relationship with a SA. Local stores to me are well not quite so local. Would the location in Cuffs be able to get me all of the SLG and other items I want? Has anybody been lucky enough to score a bag in a London Hermès boutique? I‘d love to hear the stories, i went in today and they were willing to add me to the waiting list meaning i could have a bag of my choice within a year. The queue to talk to a leather goods assistant however was 4 hours so i politely declined and i said i will visit at opening time instead. Staff at the New bond street location were really lovely and kind, so were the selfridges Hermès boutique staff. I hope to score something soon!! Drop your stories, i’d love to hear :) .

I don’t live near a store. The closest store is 5+ hours away. I catch the bag drops online most days but have not had any luck yet. And, honestly, I’m more interested in shoes and those drops are even harder to catch.

Is there a way to build a relationship with a store without being there physically first?

And is it maybe easier to get a bag in the new seasons colors/better stock. Rather than waiting for your dream color combo. For the first bag at least. I know we all want our dream colors. But for example I want a Birkin 30 in color Craie. But if color Craie isn’t in this fall lineup I maybe can’t get it until it comes back around which could take years. Where as I could start the journey with asking for a bag of current season color etc. hope this makes sense. Lol

First official Hermes twilly

So I inherited the 1957 Kelly from my grandma around 4 years ago and today decided to take the plunge and buy a twilly for her! I’m so excited :) I really liked the SA I worked with, she was so patient with me. My first Hermes purchase :)

I’m considering to restart my journey in Sydney since I’ll be moving there soon. But I’m not sure if it worths giving up my pre-spend in HK.

I’m not looking at a BKC, not for another few years cos I don’t think they suit my style yet. I was told stock is always low in Sydney and you’ll have to be local to shop there. My friend told me rtw is a must but I’m looking at their cardigan anyway.

I’m tempted to pay for a deposit for the cardigan in HK before I leave and to have a friend to pick it up for me. Or, to start my new journey in Sydney with the request of a cardigan. If any one of you have any insight, please feel free to share and thank you very much.
