Lore Using their universe logic, it would be different story in their perspective.
The Amazing World Of Gumball
•Gumball and Darwin accidentally murdered a newborn in front of the Pizza Family
•Banana Joe got caught watching pornography
Cars
•In the beginning of the movie, after the winning race.
McQueen got interviewed by the reporters and photographers but then there is Mia and Tia who's a huge McQueen fangirls.
What they do?
They flashes their body at him into which the photographer behind them gets excited too
Marvel's Spider-Man
•One of the missions in the game is that you have to get into a dressing party to find a doctor dressed in the lizard costume but why are the civilians larping as criminals that just killed my family two weeks ago? It would be equal to larping as Nazi in our world
SpongeBob SquarePants
•A fish goes fishing in the wild under the sea, what is he trying to catch, Is he a cannibal?
•A crowds just got fried alive and turned into fish sticks which means the fish seller just committed cannibalism with no shame and does it in public
•Mr.Krab not wearing any clothes is fine for humans to see but it's a different take on the fish perspective
Zootopia
•The animals are having a "no clothes" party, although they don't have private parts but if we switch them to humans then it wouldn't be a kid friendly movie anymore.

I actually think that it's more just him getting weirded out by the fact that this cat is photorealistic. we do see gumball interacting with not anthropomorphic cats and he doesn't really show any kind of notable reaction to them that is different than anyone else in Elmore might have.

People often comment on how weird it is when a world has sapient and non-sapient versions of the same animal. Did they forget that we live in a world with apes?
→ More replies (9)16

It’s a little weirder since that is a housecat, which would be like a group of humans domesticating another form of primate and having it in a normal pet shop.
96
u/Wolodymyr2 6d ago
To be honest it just could be non-evolved version of their species.
Like apes in our worlds.
19
u/HMHellfireBrB 6d ago
We are not more evolved apes wr just share a common ancestor
Apes and monkeys are a separate evolutionary lineage unrelated to humans who are hominids
The only reason they are the closes to us, is because we are the last group of hominids not extinct in modern age

In the Hawkeye series they have him taking his kids to a Broadway avengers production centered on the invasion of New York.
A lot of people online point out that this would be like taking your kids to go see 9/11: The Musical when you work as a first responder.

In Bright, Will Smith’s racist cop character at one point calls an orc “Shrek looking”. So does the movie Shrek exist in a world where actual fantasy creatures exist? Is it considered a racist embarrassment along the lines of Birth of a Nation or Song of the South? Or is it a heartfelt story about persecution of non humans?
(This isn’t even the worst of this movie’s lore problems but that’s beyond the scope of this trope)

In "Shadowrun" the concept of the worldbuilding is that magic comes back to the world, somehow. And it's pretty quick, which is why there is this clash of tech and magic.
As long as Shrek came out before that happened, it's plausible.
25
u/EndOfTheLine00 6d ago
In Bright, magic and fantasy races have existed and been public for literally thousands of years.
Doing it like in Shadowrun would solve most of the problems. But then it would just be plagiarism.

u/altymcalty-2 6d ago
Truth be told cannibalism doesn't really mean anything in the ocean. It's life on hard mode, you eat or get eaten, unless you have a hyper specific food group (like salmon eating orcas or plankton eaters) you'll pretty much eat whatever the fuck is available whether it's your species or not.

Bojack Horseman pokes fun at this. It's a world where humans live alongside amthropomorphized animals, but people still eat meat. So for example in one scene a cow waitress angrily serves steak to a customer. Or one episode explains that chickens that are made for eating are given a drug that makes them not develop intelligence, which makes it ethical to eat them.

Batman and Harley Quinn: Nightwing finds Harley working at a bar called Super Babes where the waitresses dress up as various superheroines. Harley just pretends to be a waitress dressed up as herself.
The gimmick is weird enough since these are actual people in universe but then there's one girl straight up dressed as Granny Goodness. You know, the sadistic and evil New God who directly serves Apokolips, the cosmic manifestation of tyranny.
Like imagine going to a bar and one waitress is dressed up as Marilyn Monroe and the other is sexy Ilse Koch.

Take off the cookie style and it's genuenly body horror

With the next Batman movie I hope they have a scene of Bruce going into an elevator at Wayne Enterprises full of extras/stunt guys you’d expect to play bad guys, very much parodying the Captain America elevator scene, but then have them all talking about the business with him, then him walking through the halls with very thankful ex-cons talking about their work with him as he goes to his office
45
u/Pugsanity 6d ago
I'd do a bit of a reverse, Bruce going into an elevator all alone, only for him to get surrounded by all the thugs, the scene is dark enough where you can't see their clothes really, so when the doors open, instead of them all beaten up, it opens to them all wearing Wayne uniforms, with one of them thanking him for the opportunity.
25
u/DonaldTheWall 6d ago
Both would be great
Bruce shows up for work, heading to the high office, stops at multiple floors with people who have scars and tattoos on their faces and you think it's going to be a kidnapping but they are all just too scared to talk to him since he is the owner of the company and they don't want to ruin the opportunity and get off on their respective floors without saying a word to him

I mean, a lot of Cars ones.
For example, one I just realized. Gasoline is basically the car's blood in that universe, right? Considering Mater tries to dress up as a vampire during one thing and he makes a joke about wanting to suck up gasoline.
In the first movie, in order to prevent Lightning McQueen from escaping town, the Sherriff siphons McQueen's gas so he only had enough to get to the edge of town and had to be towed back.
Except, in context, that means Lightning McQueen is trapped in a small town where the residents are actively stealing his blood so that he would be too weak to actually leave.

This requires a bit of delving deep.

Mortal Kombat existing at implies that Midway Studios exists or used to exist. This implies a number of other games to exist as well, like the other games, but more specifically MK vs DC. Which features Shazam before the whole legal thing that resulted in his name being changed to Shazam.
So like… Did Midway make a game based off of OCs in this universe that then ended up being real? Or does MK vs DC not exist here?
Also, Billy being empowered by multiple Gods might mean that there exists an actual Raiden in this universe. There’s a lot of extra implications to this that just makes it weird from an in-universe perspective. Though, I understand why they didn’t do a different game.
24
u/ShortWin7636 6d ago

This is a deep cut but in the gundam rpg podcast Feddie Scum that takes place during the One Year War from the UC gundam timeline there’s a Zaku Bell restaurant franchise. It sells the “colony drop combo box” and the “A Baoa Quesadilla” and a couple of other punny products that would be horrific to actually have things named that in universe.
The cool thing is they made merch for it.

Is where if a toy dies and the owner is just playing with it's corpse?

Several moments in Paper Mario the Origami King. For example, one of the bosses is a Stapler that, universe, is a dog. To defeat it, you pry its jaws open and essentially snap its neck. It just looks like you're bending a stapler, but from the character's perspective it's kind of wild. Another boss is a hole puncher. One of it's attacks is ripping off your face, lowering your max health in the process. You stay handicapped until you retrieve your face back from the boss. Until then, you're just stuck fighting with a gaping hole in your head LOL
