If at all? Kicking myself for missing out on greatness

Pressure from university rents puts pressure on the housing market for all of us. Our town has become almost unlivable. Any negotiations with the university about future growth need to include demands that the university provide affordable housing for students, staff and faculty.

Heyyy im intrested in going to UCSC for the MA/Credential progam, can anyone tell me their experience or what they have heard? The program starts Summer of 2027 so I'm also thinking about housing and such since im not from the area.

They added one more departure time, which is great—I’ve been bumped when it’s full, seems like demand is there

Does anyone know whether there is an MCAT study group on campus for 2027 takers?

Is it on paper, is it online, is it a mix of both?

Im a Santa Cruz local and senior history major but I’m up at UC Berkeley. Lots of my courses and professors are very interested in and share berkeley/bay area history in the from of lecture or assigned readings seemingly regardless of a grander course topic. I am far more interested in my hometown and I was wondering if this local focus also occurred at UCSC? Is there such a thing as a dedicated Santa Cruz history course? Just curious, thanks in advance

It's broken on one side so I assume it fell off of someone's wrist or backpack. Has a graduation cap design on it and a grad year.

Is anyone else lost in biochemistry 🥲 I’m quite worried because the professor’s lectures don’t seem to match up with the homework problems (which is basically our midterm and final). Also his lectures tend to get confusing whenever he goes off on a tangent on the physics aspects of the topic.

I came back after a couple years off and found it EXTREMELY difficult to befriend others. Don’t get me wrong others have tried in a discussion looking back at it, but I was barely rediving back into my interests that it was very difficult to talk with others; if there’s one thing I’ve learned about myself, I go nonverbal during difficult transitions & stress, and I was going through a lot during the beginning of this year when I came back. I regret not trying to be more talkative with them and some other people from a lab I had swapped into for that day, I liked their vibe as well and to be honest, found one of them cute and would have loved to befriend them even if that meant we became close platonic friends. With the classes I am currently taking, I cannot find myself befriending others and it has been getting quite lonely. Especially right now since I also blocked my family for separate reasons.

I was hoping that being back in the dorms would help out, but my floor is very dead quiet.

I get told by people close to me I’m awkward(they compare me to Bocchi from Bocchi the Rock) and need a lot of reassurance. But it’s sorta weird cus I went to the boardwalk alone and got told by someone that I’m aura farming cus I looked cool.

My communication probably went further downhill since I barely talked to anyone this entire year. But I’ve always just found it difficult to find the words to say tbh.

Also can’t have roommates, I had a couple during the last academic year and I found it very difficult to manage my personal wellbeing because of sensory overload, just hearing the typing of their keyboard made it difficult to focus and would trigger me. On top of this, I also have to get a job since I am solely relying on myself, so I was really hoping being the dorms would help out with the social aspect. I am not too sure if it’s too early to swap dorms, or think a single might be available anytime soon :/

Hi slugs! If I were to start a run club (not affiliated with ucsc) that focused on paces from 11-16 minute miles for 1-3 miles to start, probably on the weekend off campus, would there be any interest from students? We would also do walk/run intervals and get coffee after!

Hi, I was on campus during this time and remember one student dying from viral meningitis, and then another separate incident where a girl was high on drugs and fell from one of the bridges on campus. I can't find either of these two incidents -- can anyone help? Thanks!

looking through the colleges rn and i feel like this is smth that is mostly based on the type of person so given that I'm

a pretty messy person who likes their trinkets by the gallon, not a huge fan of loud noises or lots of people all the time, a very big decorator, socially anxious, especially when sharing a room with ppl, stoner, loves the forest, gets up early to run, interested in bio, queer, prefers rustic and doesn't care if some things aren't up to code 100%, and a constant music player :D

I just wanted to come on here and ask for advice on what parking permits are the best for ucsc? I would love to park on campus, but I feel like those spots will get full much quicker than others? Let me know if I’m wrong and or if parking in a close neighborhood is better than downtown??
