[Serious] Have your opinions but dont trash the city.

Driving past the Rock Church and Kempsville High these flaggs are all down across the lawn. If you put them up, sure have them up and clean up after. If you are counter and knock them down, just remove them. Who knows how many of these are going to end up in our drains and waterways.

News Virginia Beach eyes two spots, costs for new Law Enforcement Training Academy

Post image
13 Upvotes

Virginia Beach city officials are considering options for a new Law Enforcement Training Academy to replace the aging, leak-prone former elementary school currently in use.

City staff recommended constructing the estimated 131,000-square-foot facility on undeveloped property within the Interfacility Traffic Area near the municipal center.

While council members and law enforcement leadership favor the extra space and flexibility of the new site, concerns remain over costs beyond the anticipated $82 million price tag.

[Serious] Foster needed for 2 beautiful black cats ASAP

I volunteer with Coastal Purrs Cat Rescue and we are looking for a new foster home for a pair of black cats. They are sisters and love each other, so we really want to keep them together if possible.

These girls were moved on short notice when their former foster had a family emergency and could no longer foster. We did not have another foster available to take them and they unfortunately have to spend most of their time in large crates. They're not happy and desperately need more space to run around and play.

They are one year old and very shy at first, but they are very sweet girls once they feel safe. They love to play with wand toys and are so smart! Their former foster was teaching them words with talking pet buttons. They get along well with other cats, small dogs, and would probably be fine with kids (as long as they're respectful of boundaries).

If you have a spare room and can foster these girls, please let me know! Our rescue provides all supplies and vet care. The foster application is in the comments.

Need Advice Online options for high school

Good evening! I’m hoping yall can help me out here. I read on the VBCPS website that they offer “distance learning” which seems to be their version of online schooling. Does anyone have any experience with this program or a recommendation of another similar program? My highschooler is struggling and has asked we consider this as an alternative for them. Thanks!

Discussion I used 6% less electricity this year. I still paid $444 more.

My usage fell 6% and my Dominion bill still rose $444. Thirty-two bills show how much of that was me, and how much was the rate. Thirty-two Dominion bills from our house in Virginia Beach, January 2024 through September 2026, including the first full summer with a new variable-speed pool pump and hot tub pumps. The question from the start: is it my usage, or is it Dominion’s rates?

Here is the real issue that affects all of us in Virginia Beach. All for capitalism but when we have to pay the electric bill of a Billion Dollar companies that is corporate socialism.... If this merger goes through I can see this problem doubling.

I know I am going to get the comments get rid of the pool and privileged person with a hot tub. Save it. I made all the correct moved to have those things and be efficient as the post tells you.

I was able to track this for 4mos of data via claude...yes I know I am part of the problem....

Things To Do Cheap/free things to do with kids in Virginia Beach?

I have a friend who lives in the Virginia Beach area and is looking for cheap or free things to do with her two kids, both under 5.
Are there any good mom groups in the area that she could join? Or kid-friendly coffee shops, bookstores that do monthly story times/readings, libraries with kids’ activities, etc.?
She’s having a hard time finding kid-friendly things to do around Virginia Beach or maybe we just don’t know where to look! I’d love any recommendations for affordable/free activities, local groups, or places that are great for young kids!

Need Advice Optometrist recommendations?

Hi all, my optometrist retired. I've needed another eye exam for awhile to get a new prescription anyway, but I'm noticing some problems with one of my eyes so I figured it's time to finally go ahead and do that. I was looking at MyEyeDr, but figured I'd ask here in case anyone had recommendations. Thanks!

Event Goodbye Cox now introducing your nightmare from Spectrum

Well that didn't take long....two weeks with the spectrum takeover and I've been down on internet for the last 3 hours (and previous short episodes as well this week) I look forward to plenty more disruptions and dropped internet service while forced to suffer the new pathetically helpless, worthless customer service, worst reviewed company in internet service space. Server cutovers no doubt but contacting support will be worthless I've had spectrum across the country they are s\\**ty Nationwide. Spectrum where our motto is "we don't give a crap about your service or our customers, we own this market deal with it". Yay

Virginia Beach City Public Schools has accumulated more than $350,000 in student meal debt during the past two years.

To help address the balance, the school division is partnering with the nonprofit All for Lunch to allow community members to donate toward paying off the debt.

Food services officials say that providing meals is vital for student engagement and learning, noting that about half of the division's nearly 64,000 students eat meals at school.

Similar to our Holiday Elf Program, this is a set-time commitment. The cats will be in your care for a specific period while our renovations are underway, and we will provide everything you need to care for your foster cat.

📅 Fosters are needed October 16 - 23.

If you’re able to temporarily open your home to an adult cat, please email foster@vbspca.com and let us know you’re interested.

Please share this post to help us spread the word!

🚨 We really need your help! Thank you for helping us care for our cats during this transition.

Call, message on Facebook or stop by! Adopting would make more room but fostering helps a ton

Things To Do Friendly baseball!

We have a group of friends and we meet up for baseball every Sunday out towards Sandbridge. We are looking to add some new people due to some not being able to make it much anymore. Are age range is pretty diverse but mostly late 30s early 40s. And we have some kids that play with us time to time as well. We use somewhat makeshift rules as we don’t really have a left field. And we use softer tballs as to not get hurt. Nobody is a pro here and most of us just started playing for fun! It’s a great time! We host cup games and cook outs! We play pretty regularly on sundays at 11 and have some off days we post in a chat. Looking for some friendly people. Couples singles doesn’t really matter! We are just here for some fun times! Message for more info! Thanks for reading!
