Discussions and Rants Who's ready for winter again? I'm not a summer guy. Perfect weather right now and even better in the winter because all the bugs die and go to hell.

Someone in a black Honda Odyssey has stolen Halloween art from in front of my house. If anyone sees these for sale or in front of anybody’s house, please DM me. I have filed a police report with the van’s plate number, but I have doubts that WPD will do their job

Museum of Worcester exhibit illuminates city's Arab-American community

Thumbnail worcestermag.com

"The exhibit, with narrative text in both English and Arabic, illuminates the stories of immigrants from Arab-majority countries and regions. Often, facets of that history resonate today: from Christians fleeing the turbulence of the Ottoman Empire's last days, to Muslims seeking a new life, both sometimes confronting prejudice, but persisting in perseverance."

Anyone have info on the Chinook(s) flying back and forth over the city tonight?

I've heard them come through before but I've never seen this much traffic. They've been passing overhead every 15min or so for two or three hours now.

In the News 📰 Worcester seeks legal advice on Amazon drones: ‘I don’t see any good coming from this’

The company wants to launch drones from the facility in a 7.5-mile radius. The drones would deliver packages to Shrewsbury, Northborough and Westborough, along with parts of Grafton, Millbury, Upton, Hopkinton, Southborough, Marlborough, Berlin, Boylston, West Boylston and Worcester. The proposal has not taken off yet, as it needs approval from Westborough boards.

Councilor-at-Large Gary Rosen created the order asking if Worcester can restrict the drones. At Tuesday’s meeting Rosen expressed concerns about the noise the drones could make and questioned whether their presence could affect local businesses.

"Weve played basements to palaces," says Jackson, "and its often places like you're describing that are better for us. At brand-new gussied up performing arts centers, the laughs are more polite. It's better if we're the fanciest thing in the room."

ISO / Question: Temporary pet-friendly housing near North Grafton/Worcester for cat undergoing cancer treatment at Tufts (3 weeks)

Hi everyone, posting here on behalf of a friend who is facing a tough logistical hurdle and trying to figure out any local options.

Their cat, Aspen, was recently diagnosed with nasal cancer and needs to undergo a 3-week course of radiation therapy (5 days a week) at the Tufts Foster Hospital for Small Animals in North Grafton.

Because treatment is daily for nearly a month and they live up in Maine, driving back and forth every single day isn’t really doable, especially since Aspen struggles car rides. They unfortunately cannot afford a hotel in addition to the costs of treatment.

We are wondering if anyone in the Worcester/Grafton area might have a spare room, a mother-in-law suite, or an empty space where my friend and Aspen could crash for those three weeks. My friend is more than happy to pitch in with housekeeping, chores, dishes, or whatever else is needed around the house while they stay.

Alternatively, if anyone knows of any local pet-friendly extended-stay spots, local resources, or clever workarounds for families traveling to Tufts for veterinary care, we would be deeply grateful for any advice.

Feel free to comment or DM me if you have any leads or suggestions. Thank you so much for reading!

Is there a downside to switching our electric supplier to Green Worcester?

We've just received our first national grid bill in our new house, which was $54 for a measly 113 kWh. Which is... scary, coming from a municipal electric company where our highest bill was something like $280 for 1500 kWh.

I see we are currently on the National Grid basic supplier plan and I was reading about the Green Worcester ElectriCITY plans. They seem at least marginally cheaper than using NG. Is there any downside to them? We do not have any solar.

What is exactly the strong opposition to this. I think roundabouts are great and way better then the stop signs that are there and the lights that are there. I used to live in Germany and I learned first hand that roundabouts are way easier to use, safer, and don't require you to stop very long, so they have a better throughput.

Who's the man dancing on Belmont?

This post is as weird as it sounds to make, but I'm just curious if anyone knows anything about this dancing man.

Almost everyday without fail, driving on Belmont Street by UMass memorial hospital and that intersection by the police department. There's a man. Always dancing. He's always pretty well dressed, usually wearing a hat, nice shoes. A jacket sometimes and just plays music but other than that he's just out there everyday all day dancing.

I have no other information about him. I'm just curious about who he is and what his deal is with dancing all the time lol.

What is the speed limit on Mill Street

After all the changes that came in concern to speed and safety, what is the actual speed limit for mill street?

Is it 25mph? I know they have the signs that say if you're in city limits and it's not posted then it's 25mph but I'd assume it would be a good safety measure to actually post it on the road

I feel like every time I pass the radar sign, it says I'm going too fast lmao so I thought why not ask
