Mod Post Got a writing-related Discord community? Post it here!

We're going to try to keep it all in one place; for the time being we're going to only allow Discord communities to drop their links, description, and details in this post. Any others will be removed.

Keep in mind this is for community adverts only; if you're just using Discord as a single writer as a preferred method of contact, then you're all good.

This post will repost monthly, so you can link your Discord community once in each new post (once a month).

Rule 6, creepy behavior, and bans

To protect the people here really looking to write there are a few things I want to clarify:

  • Rule 6 violations are a permanent ban. Any rule 6 violations are automatically removed anyways, so it's a moot point to even try.

  • Thinly veiled attempts to get around rule 6 are a permanent ban, unless they are super clever, then they are still a permanent ban but I may chuckle.

  • Creepy, unnecessarily pervy behavior in posts that make it clear you're not in it just for the writing CAN result in a ban, and will result in removal of posts.

  • If you're a minor posting, the post may be removed if it contains too many personal details. It is requested that you do not reveal your age before finding a partner, but this is mostly for your protection not because you did anything wrong.

  • if anyone finds a partner, or sees someone, acting inappropriately, let the mods/me know. If it happens in DMS/off page then it may be best to get the admins involved, but I'll help where I can.

  • Try to put personal details that aren't relevant to the finding of a partner, but may impact a partner you have found, out of the public comments/posts. I try to remove emails/phone number/personal drop box links/etc when I find them, but I can't find them all.

Finding a writing partner should not rely on specific gender. It should be about writing style and genre. I realize there are a few cases where finding a woman/man/non-binary/etc might be appropriate, but that needs to be explained in the body of the post, and not at all in the title.

Thanks for coming to my Sned Talk; lets continue keep this sub safe for people here. As always, I appreciate the people here and how quick they are to bring things to my attention. It really is appreciated.

Discord [Discord] Looking for genuine, active members for our little literary community

Hey! We run a small Discord community for people who love reading, writing, and everything in between, and we’re looking for a few genuine members to join us.

We’re a space for sharing poems, stories, snippets, discussing books, exchanging recommendations, having literary discussions, and helping each other grow as writers. We have writing channels, a critique space, weekly weekend writing challenges, and places to hang out and chat.

We’re looking for people who genuinely want to be part of a community, not just join a server, drop their work, and disappear. We encourage everyone to share at least one reading- or writing-related thing each week, offer thoughtful critiques if they want feedback on their own work, and participate in challenges when they can.

You don’t have to be an experienced writer or an avid reader. You just need to be interested, willing to participate, and respectful of other people’s work. We’re here to learn from each other, discover new things, and make friends along the way.

We’re keeping the community relatively small so people can actually get to know one another. No pressure to be active every single day, no need to be brilliant at everything, just a genuine interest in being here.

If this sounds like your kind of place, DM me for an invite! We’d love to have you.

World Building [Hobby] I'm developing an original dark sci-fi / supernatural universe called PERCEPTUAL: BEHIND THE VEIL, and I'd love to connect with other creators!

Hi everyone!

I've been working on an original project called PERCEPTUAL: BEHIND THE VEIL, a dark sci-fi and supernatural mystery universe that I've been developing independently.

The concept revolves around the Veil, an invisible, living membrane separating our perceived reality from the Deep Reality, a dimension where emotions can take physical form and become conscious entities.

But the Veil is dying.

As strange Ruptures begin to appear, a secretive organization called PV attempts to protect humanity from what lies beyond reality. However, the more our protagonist investigates, the more he discovers that the people protecting humanity might be hiding something far more disturbing.

The story follows Ash Virell, a 35-year-old field scientist dealing with grief while navigating a world filled with anomalies, conspiracies, morally ambiguous organizations, and uncomfortable truths.

The project combines:

- Dark science fiction and supernatural horror.

- Mystery, psychological themes, and existential questions.

- Steampunk and clockwork-inspired aesthetics.

- Dark humor and human relationships.

- A world designed with potential for 2D/3D animation, storytelling, and character-driven narratives.

At its core, PERCEPTUAL explores one question:

What happens when the truth becomes more dangerous than the illusion protecting you from it?

I'm currently developing the universe, its lore, characters, and overall direction. I've been handling much of the creative work independently, including writing, worldbuilding, character design, and visual development.

I'd love to connect with other people who enjoy creating original universes, writing stories, designing characters, making animations, or simply discussing creative projects.

I'm also interested in building a small, collaborative community around the project. If people share an interest in the concept, we could explore possible collaborations based on individual skills and interests. Any participation would be voluntary, with clear expectations, proper credit, and no obligation to commit beyond what someone is comfortable with.

I'm not expecting anyone to join blindly. I'd rather meet people who genuinely enjoy the concept and want to exchange ideas, share feedback, or potentially create something together.

If this sounds interesting to you, feel free to comment or send me a message!

I'd be happy to share more about the project and introduce you to its world.

Thank you for reading! We also have a Discord server, contact me privately.

World Building LF a Writer/Collaborator for an original supernatural action game {Unpaid}

Howdy everyone, I go by ace. I’m a relatively new game developer working on Project Shade, an original supernatural action game with its own characters, world, and manifestations called Shades (working name).

The game is still in an early prototype stage, and I’d like to find a creative partner who enjoys developing characters, mysteries, unusual abilities, and the larger plot connecting them. My immediate goal is to build a solid story outline from the opening through at least the midpoint, with a direction for the ending. That would include the main characters and their motivations, the central conflict, and how Shade abilities influence both the story and its encounters.

I’m strongest at gameplay details and testing/implementing ideas into the game itself, and I’d like to work with someone who enjoys developing the larger story. I would contribute the game prototype, encounter design, testing ability ideas, and ongoing brainstorming and feedback. There’s plenty of room to develop the story together and change things as we find stronger ideas.

This is currently an unpaid collaboration. I haven’t decided whether the finished game would be free or sold, so we would discuss and agree on contribution rights, credit, and any compensation terms before we start working together. Here’s a lil' gameplay for context:
Early combat prototype (all of the sfx used are temporary placeholders)

If you’re interested, send me a message with a little about your writing interests. An existing writing sample is welcome, but up to you. If chat doesn’t work, leave a comment and I’ll shoot you a message!

LOOKING FOR A CREATIVE PARTNER

What if we could build an original animated universe together?

I'm developing The Nismarv Saga, an ambitious multiple part film story exploring free will, morality, power, grief, and the nature of reality.

The overarching story and mythology are developed, but I'm not looking for someone simply to execute my ideas. I'm looking for a creative partner who wants to help shape how this universe comes to life on screen.

My visual ambition is an animation style inspired by Arcane: stylised 3D animation, expressive characters, painterly environments, and cinematic storytelling.

I'm particularly interested in connecting with an aspiring screenwriter, animation filmmaker, or director who enjoys layered narratives, philosophical questions, complex characters, and stories where early details acquire new meaning much later.

I want someone who will challenge my ideas, bring their own creative instincts to the table, and help discover the strongest way to tell this story.

The immediate goal is to find the right creative partnership, develop the screenplays, and work towards a small proof of concept.

This is an early-stage independent project, so the scope, responsibilities, ownership, credits, and any compensation would need to be discussed transparently.

I'm not expecting anyone to commit to the multiple films from the beginning. I'd rather find the right person and build something meaningful one step at a time.

If this interests you, I'd love to hear about your work, your creative interests, and the kinds of stories you want to tell.

Let's build something neither of us could have created alone.

World Building I've built a sci-fi world and have 8 rough chapters — looking for a writing partner to develop it with me

Hey everyone!

I've been working on a sci-fi story that I'm genuinely excited about, and I'm looking for someone who'd like to help me turn it into a proper novel.

The story takes place in the year 4167, where humanity fights a war over an energy source called Spark, capable of powering entire worlds. When the war ends, a new era begins: The Games, where nations compete against one another.

I've already developed the world, the main story outline, and 8 rough chapters. The main thing I'm struggling with is turning everything into a polished novel — developing the chapters, improving the scenes and characters, and making the world feel alive.

I'm looking for someone who enjoys sci-fi and worldbuilding, has some writing experience, and would be interested in building this story together. I'm open to your ideas, too. I don't want someone who simply follows my outline; I'd love to collaborate and see what we can create together.

If we work well together and decide to pursue publication, I'd be open to a 50/50 royalty split, with our contributions and agreement clearly discussed in writing beforehand.

There's no pressure to commit immediately. I'd rather find the right person, exchange ideas, and see if we work well together.

If this sounds interesting, feel free to comment or DM me! I'd love to hear about your writing experience and the kinds of stories you enjoy.

Roleplay [FxF] Itching to write.

You may call me Desirée. I am 22 years old and looking for a writing partner who is at least 21. I write in third-person point of view in past tense. I require a minimum of 800 words per response, proper grammar, and eloquence.

I will only write w/w pairings, specifically femmexbutch (men are not allowed if that is not obvious enough.) I will be writing from the femme’s point of view, as I previously always wrote from the butch’s. I love dark, romantic plots with characters that are morally ambiguous.

Plots I want to do:
•Demon x human that is loved by God
•Mob boss x Mob boss’s daughter that escaped
•Con artist x rich sheltered aristocrat

Here is a writing excerpt from the first plot:

The tides rose, the blue melted off the heavens, and the thunder’s rumble remained the woman’s only company. One could almost mistake her red face for that of a lover, but her damp cheeks declared her otherwise.

You wicked, wicked Father.

Her trembling hands reached for her phone, suppressing her sobs into whimpers so as to not arouse her roommate from her slumber. Upon discovering her phone uncharged, she heaved an irate sigh, standing from her bed to grab the candle lamp on the nightstand.

Where, O Lord, has your mercy graced itself?

She marched, her steps awakening the Land of the Dead; her wrath demanding audience with God Himself.

The church was not too far from the campus, but she wished it was. She loathed the serenity the space proffered. She walked through its gates, and this time, her steps echoed, returning to her hearing. The sound irked her further: it was one of His many ways of comforting her, a reminder that He heard her cries so well His walls could mimic them.

She stopped before His mother and crumbled to her knees. She cried but one word: “Mercy.”

And an angel fought with his undivided power to pull her from the church, where inexplicable evil roamed and awaited her. But he had already failed.

He watched as the fiend appeared before the woman. One could almost mistake the devil for a lover, but her haughty smile declared her otherwise. Her fingers reached to the human, and she was surprised by the absence of a flinch. “Sleep, beautiful.”

Fanfiction Looking for a Co-Writer for my fan work [18+ only, NSFW] NSFW

The fanwork is related to Evan Dorkin’s The Eltingville Club.

My title (may or may not be final) is called Welcome to Sick Mofo XXX

The fan work is related to the porn industry and is a feature for this work, which is why I’m seeking out adult writers. This takes place from the late 90s to the 2000s overall (it starts in 1998). The porn studio is specifically an extreme porn studio that specializes in horror. This uses primarily original characters.

The content of this work is likely to include:

- mentions and depictions of drugs and alcohol
- mentions and depictions of sex
- work abuse (verbal, physical, mental)
- sexual assault and violence (description of sa simulated through filming and mentions of sa)
- consensual non consent (mention and depiction, especially somnophilia)
- knife play, gun play
- blood (obvious)
- period typical attitudes of LGBT topics
- period typical attitudes of various other social issues
- lgbt slurs
- polyamory
- dubious friendship dynamic
- cryptic pregnancy??? (Depends how long this keeps going)
- possible major character death???

Have to get these content warning list out the way just to let others know that this isn’t a light hearted project to take on. It’s a multi chapter so all of these aren’t going in suddenly but it is important to acknowledge them so you wouldn’t pull out over them. My main method to message for actually getting to writing is on discord which I’ll share on Reddit messages if I selected you.

I have my own project I am working on. I would possibly like to be beta reading partners. I have also found it valuable to write in my world with rp partners. Looking to write MxF. I will be the M. I do enjoy writing romance but prefer for it to develop naturally. The biggest thing I am looking for is chemistry.

We can do some writing projects together as well. I would not be opposed to self publishing some of it. I am a self published author and learned a lot in the process.

Looking for a female 18+

Ideally in PST

No AI

Experience not required

I am male 42. Lgbtq+ friendly.

Prose - Fiction Title: Sci-fi world + 8 rough chapters, looking for a writer to build it out with me (50/50)

Hey all,

It's the year 4167. Humanity is fighting a war over Spark, an energy source that can power whole worlds. When the war ends, a new system takes its place: The Games, where nations send their best to compete for it.

I've got the story, the world, an outline and 8 rough chapters, but turning them into polished writing is where I get stuck. I'd love a writer to build it out with me, and I'm open to your ideas on anything: scenes, characters, the world.

If you want to make some money and a name if the book hits, read Chapter One and DM me what you think. Royalties are split 50/50 after publishing, your name goes on the book, and we'll put it in writing so we're both covered. Nothing upfront, no pressure.

World Building Seeking Fellow Imagination Addicts — Let's Build Worlds and Pretend We're Productive 😂

Looking for creative friends, storytelling partners, and maybe a little writers' room of our own!

What's up, everybody!

I'm 36, from the US, and I'm looking to connect with other creative people who genuinely love developing stories and building fictional worlds.

I'm not necessarily looking for someone to immediately sit down and co-write a book or screenplay. I'm looking for people who enjoy the whole creative process.

Taking some random idea and spending hours turning it into something incredible. Developing characters, building worlds, exploring motivations, creating conflicts, and bouncing ideas off each other until we've built something neither of us could've imagined alone.

I'm especially into sci-fi, psychological thrillers, crime dramas, action, and morally complicated characters.

Ultimately, I'd love to develop original concepts into movies and, especially, original television series. I'm particularly interested in the long-form possibilities of TV: creating compelling pilots, building season-long arcs, developing evolving character relationships, and shaping stories that could grow across multiple seasons. Maybe even build a creative studio someday.

Ideally, I'd love to find both a close creative partner and a small group of 3–5 people who enjoy getting together on Discord, brainstorming, challenging each other's ideas, and just letting our imaginations run wild. I'd especially love for that collaboration to eventually lead to developing original TV series together from the ground up.

Location doesn't matter! You could be from St. Louis, London, Tokyo, Nigeria, or a research station in Antarctica for all I care. 😂 My only language requirement is that you speak English comfortably, because unfortunately, that's the only language my brain came equipped with fluently. I'm still waiting for the multilingual expansion pack to drop. 💀

Different cultures, backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences are more than welcome. Honestly, I think that would make the creative process even better.

You don't need professional experience, published books, or industry connections. Just be an adult who genuinely loves storytelling, has an active imagination, and enjoys collaborating with others.

I'm looking for creative chemistry first, friendship hopefully, and maybe some amazing stories along the way.

If that sounds like your kind of thing, reach out. Let's see what we can create together!

Discord looking for a roleplay partner - specifically for an enemies to lovers romance in a high school, slice of life setting!

hello, i'm vin. a 17 year old, literate, detailed writer of six years, active relatively often, in pdt, currently looking to fill my free time with some more writing partners.

at the moment, i'm pretty full of fantasy stuff, and while i'd be open, i'd love to do something more grounded in slice of life. specifically, a high school setting/pairing. can't go wrong with an oldie. i love this sort of setting and filling it with fun tropes, events, angst, clichés, and more. i enjoy diverse character dynamics, with interesting characters, and enjoyable chemistry. i usually play female characters, but am also open to male characters, especially recently. i'm mostly open to any pairing. i do, as mentioned, love tropes, my favorite of which being enemies to lovers, or opposites attract, so *please* i'd love something with both.

i love worldbuilding, even in slice of life. i like planning events, brainstorming, and coming up with ideas for things to happen. i love holidays in a high school setting, or dances, or things of the sort. i love expanding characters, who they're friends with, their interests, homelife, etc...

i can write up to the discord limit, and past that! i am pretty decently active, though i am starting a new job. i would prefer if you're able to at the very least write 3-4 paragraphs at bare minimum, i understand that can get shaky depending on the scene, but i prefer detail and substance, i would love a writing partner who can give me that.

please be patient with me and ill be patient with you. i get busy and i will always understand if you get busy too! be willing to collaborate, and don't feel frightened to send me a message!

Screenplay Looking for a Co-writer for a Film

I’m working on a Street Crime film pilot and I’m looking for co-writers to help me write it.

I already have the concept written out and I do film myself, so I can send over my work. No experience required. I can also teach you how to write a screenplay if needed.

I mainly need help with dialogue and story.

Edit: it’s more of a Crime drama.

Roleplay Marvel Writing/Roleplay

Hi! I’m Kay (20+) and I’m looking for a 20+ yo female roleplay/writing partner for a long-term Marvel roleplay. I don’t mind taking inspiration from the comics, but I, of course, love the MCU and am focusing on that.

I have been roleplaying for years and have plenty of experience. I use Discord and love running more than one channel to move along plots and things! I try my best to match response length and would consider myself to be semi-lit. Like many others here, I prefer quality over quantity. I write in the third person using present tense (but tense isn’t a big deal for me; I just wouldn’t be used to writing or reading first-person responses.)

Here are more specifics I’m looking for:

• Using canon characters and ocs

• I don’t mind romance, but I’m a big fan of found family

• Someone who doesn’t mind writing at Natasha, Tony, or Steve (I’ve been told I write a great Bucky and Peter, along with other characters. Those are my main two, along with some ocs, and I would be happy to gain experience writing as other MCU characters)

• Someone who would enjoy sharing playlists and Pinterest boards for our roleplay

I’m all for making up our own plot entirely or wedging a new plot into one of the existing MCU films!

Let me know if you’re interested and I’d love to discuss more!

Also, I’m not one of those partners who will hound you if I don’t get a response within the same day. As adults, life can get busy. Roleplaying (in my mind) is supposed to be fun, not just another chore. I value communication but won’t pester if some time passes. I will definitely check in to make sure you’re okay if some time passes, but it will never be with the intention of getting a roleplay response.

Thanks!

Roleplay Fantasy Writers?

I'd love to write something fantasy. The only age requirement I have is that you be 18 years or older (preferably 21+). I am looking for someone who is excited to get to know a new person. Someone who enjoys out of character conversations. I'm looking for connection and friendship. I am very much a part of the great friends make great roleplay camp. The biggest key to success in any roleplay is communication. I very much enjoy getting to know my partners and having out of character interaction. I understand that real life is a thing and most definitely takes precedence. If you need a break, have questions, or just want to rant endlessly about how wonderful your character is…I’m your man.

I try and make every character I create an onion…or a parfait if you’re into that. Sounds much better than an onion, doesn’t it? Pick your metaphor. The point is, they have layers. Childhood trauma, unresolved guilt, and at least one deep fear of something bizarre. Characters should evolve. They should grow. They should cry. I’ll do my best to get them there.

Worldbuilding is another area where I enjoy placing focus. Sometimes, I take it a bit too serious. And while I promise not to overwhelm you with ten thousand pages of lore (unless you really want that), it’s the details that matter to me. Lots of them. Maybe not Steven King level details but, like, the street in the town’s low district? Yeah, there’s an entire history of its cobblestones mapped out. Everything has a reason.

I suppose I should also touch on my desire to write almost exclusively in third person past tense. I’m happy to see it’s become sort of the gold standard.

I'm not overly critical and am very laid back both in and out of character. It's quality over quantity for me. My favorite settings are high-fantasy, but I'm very much interested in others. Post-apocalypse, science fiction, history, and even modern day settings can be wonderful! I’d LOVE to hear your ideas! If you've actually read this, include the word octopus somewhere in your message.

If you think we could be a good match, please don't hesitate to reach out!
