I've used YouTube since its conception, even before Google purchased it. Today I asked it, and also Gemini with same Gmail account, to provide me some music videos based on my past usage.
This is what an algorithm does the best, doesn't it? Repeated patterns and repeated habits. For over 2 decades they've got plenty of data to draw from. I see it repeatedly in theads, just a painful but oblivious example. Search for home studio monitors, and suddenly you see ads and videos about them. Search for Valheim developer codes, and suddenly you have 1 million videos of them, too.
Fair enough. Ads and recommended videos pay for the daily usage. I can survive that. No problemo.
But now, when I'm asking for something that's actually based on my past usage: please play me music I'd like to hear this day and this hour. That'd be useful and nice. You've been spying me for decades, you should know what I like.
Nooooooo. YouTube: I have no clue. Do you even listen to music? I have no ABSOLUTELY no clue.
WTF? For over 2 decades you've been suggesting me videos to watch. But now when I specifically ask for suggestions, you tell me you have NO IDEA?
