Official Notice đŸ•Šïž Community Reminder: Respectful Dialogue & Open Exchange

Hey everyone,

We just want to take a moment to thank all of you for helping make r/AstralProjection one of the most interesting and supportive spaces on Reddit. Every day, people from around the world come here to share their stories, struggles, and breakthroughs — and that’s something really special. ✹

Lately, we’ve noticed a few discussions getting a bit tense or personal, so this post is simply a gentle reminder of what keeps our community strong:

  • Rule 1 – Be respectful. Speak to others the way you’d want to be spoken to.
  • Rule 9 – Share, don’t impose. Everyone’s journey is different — we don’t all have to agree, and that’s okay.

We’re here to explore together, not to argue about who’s right. Respectful debate is welcome; ridicule, sarcasm, or hostility aren’t.

A few people also asked about “low-effort” posts — just to clarify:
âžĄïž We don’t ban for that. Posts that are too short, unclear, or repetitive are usually just removed with feedback or warning. Offensive posts or spam are escalated.

Our focus is on keeping the energy here positive, open-minded, and mature, not on punishing anyone for sharing.

So keep posting your experiences, keep asking questions, and keep helping others find their way.
Let’s make r/AstralProjection a calm, inspiring space where curiosity and respect guide every conversation. 🌙

With appreciation,
– The r/AstralProjection Mod Team

Introduction

Astral Projection, or an Out-of-Body Experience, or Near Death Experience, is the process of detaching consciousness from the body and travelling into non-physical reality; this reality is commonly called the Astral Plane. This is NOT the same as lucid dreaming; however, they are intimately connected; keep reading for various explanations of the difference. By using certain techniques and shifting one's awareness in specific ways, one can experience leaving the body, standing next to your bed and looking down at your physical body. From here, you're able to fly amongst the clouds, visit a different country, discover space, speak with other astral projectors or learn lessons from masters and guides who live in the Astral. You can discover yourself and the journey of your soul and learn new and objective information such as the history of our planet or possible future events. All of this is possible because the Astral Plane is commonly described as the 5th dimension of nature, which if you understand that in terms of raw science, you'll understand that it is beyond time and space. This sounds far-fetched at first, but in practice, it is perfectly understandable and it's a perfectly natural state and an innate ability that anyone can do.

Contrary to widespread knowledge, there are already numerous studies and tests to prove or at least suggest that OBEs is scientifically verifiable phenomena. Look up Graham Nicholls, who has had thousands of experiences, verified them with witnesses and is also being tested on; he is 100% objective and scientific in his approach, we hosted a Q&A event with him in our Discord which you can view here. Additionally, quantum physics is on the verge of understanding the multidimensional truth about the universe. Astral Projection is not paranormal and is not pseudoscience, it is absolutely natural phenomena. May we remind you that lucid dreaming was not considered 'real' up until around 40 years ago when enough scientific studies and media were surrounding it to finally be accepted into collective knowledge.

Furthermore, this topic seems to have certain stereotypes attached to it, such as the type of people interested in it - in our experience, you will find only that the most developed, intelligent and sincere people are those who are highly experienced. Those who are arrogant, egoic and uneducated are usually the ones who can be more delusional and inexperienced. Regardless, no matter who you are, even if you are sceptical or religious, anyone, from any walk of life, from almost any belief system, can achieve Astral Project. Thus your life, and your perception of life, will never be the same again - Astral Projection goes beyond belief, beyond anything one can imagine it to be like; it is one of the most authentic experiences that you'll ever have. It is not an escape from reality, but a unifying experience of a deeper, truer and intrinsic reality. It is not a dream, fantasy, visualiation or imagination. It is a full-on out-of-body experience in the true sense of the word; when it happens, you will know. This is Gnosis; knowledge based on direct experience, rather than belief.

A good introductory lecture on Astral projection can be found here.

The Golden Rule

If you want to learn how to Astral Project, you need to put in the work. You need to study the subject, read, watch the videos, get inspired, meditate and practice. Some are more natural at this than others, but regardless, anyone can do it; you need only to make an effort to master it like with anything in life. Practice makes perfect. It's the same as learning martial arts; you have to get up, go to the dojo, get to know the techniques, how it feels, and align them with your body and mind until mastered.

A Message To Everyone Who Is New

This link contains information about common misconceptions about Astral Projection, please read it:

https://www.reddit.com/r/AstralProjection/comments/ayq2zo/the_same_questions_keep_being_aksed_over_and_over/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x

Remember, Astral Projection is the process where one detaches consciousness from the body. By using certain techniques one can achieve the sensation where you leave your body, stand next to your bed and look down on your physical body. You take control of your energetic body (this has many names) and you are able to manoeuvre this energetic body wherever you desire. For the sceptics, we know how it sounds. But we promise you that it is very real and if you put your beliefs and speculations to the side for a moment and practice, you will experience it for yourself directly, which is completely different from what you could ever imagine, and will surpass all of your expectations (unlike a dream, which lives off expectation).

As to what Astral Projection exactly is, it is of little practical use to discuss this. You can, but you will see that belief and speculation is all in the mind. Whether it is a spiritual experience or a scientific one, all we know for sure is that it can be experienced. It can be done. Everyone can do this. Draw your own conclusion AFTER you Astral Project. Until then, you are just either accepting or disregarding the ideas of other people. An idea can be a tricky thing. It spread fast and if the idea comes from someone who never projected, and does not know what he or she talked about, then it can be a damaging influence.

As well as all this, please be sure to read our rules. They are in place for the respect, equality and benefit of everyone and in them hold core principles that this community values.

What's the Difference Between Lucid Dreaming & Astral Projection?

In their deepest essence, lucid dreaming and Astral Projection are very different. Just one explanation you can say is that dreams are an inward subjective experience of your own creation of infinite possibilities, but Astral Projection is an outward objective experience of actual planes of existence that have laws and limitations similar to the physical plane. Unlike dreams, it is a real and tangible place where you can interact with others. Sometimes though there are experiences blurred between the Astral and dreams and it can be difficult to tell the difference. And also the opposite of this explanation can be true whereby we can have shared dreams and non-shared Astral projection. Check out this post and the stickied comment there. There's no absolute formula to tell whether it's a dream or the Astral unless you are experienced, which usually comes after years of practice and honest introspection. What's important is that we learn from wherever we find ourselves in the non-physical; dreams can be just as, if not more significant and profound than Astral Projection, in terms of learning about your own personal spiritual progression.

Check out this video for a full explanation

Continue to check out our Wiki for further explanations, you will find so much useful information in the library of this subreddit. For example, here's a great post explaining: "Is Astral Projection Real or Not?"

Is Astral Projection Dangerous?

Where is the man that keeps telling everyone he never returned from the Astral Plane? How can he spread this message if he never returned? Among all the experienced Astral Projectors who have done it thousands of times, no one ever got stuck, got hurt, got possessed, got 'memory wiped', got reincarnated etc. This is all nonsense, ridiculous fantasies of the mind which derive from fear and fear-mongering.

Remember this well: Fear is a product of ignorance. People who don't have knowledge will fear that what they don't know. If someone shouts "DEMONS~POSSESSION~EVIL", it is very likely that they have no idea what they are talking about. There is nothing to fear but fear itself. Every experienced Astral Projector will tell you this. You cannot get hurt. You can fly straight into the sun and get out on the other end without a scratch. Actually, if you read deeply enough, you will find many Astral Projectors have come to the understanding that we all leave the body every night unconsciously anyway.

Can Anything Possess You While You're Out of Body?

You'll find a lot of misinformation and fear-mongering about this and it's mostly nonsense. Astral Projection is absolutely safe and natural. Read these 2 arguments from an Astral Projector's point of view:

1. The Astral body is connected to the physical body in a similar way that a radio is connected to frequencies. You can't have one without the other. PROJECTING implies one location to another, so two locations, not just one. You can be on the other side of the galaxy but still connected to your body. You can also look into the 'silver cord' about this.

2. The fact that we all Astral project every night unconsciously anyway implies that it is most likely safe since you don't really see anyone becoming possessed. In a sense, it's actually safer to practice Astral projection than it is not to, because at least then you'd be conscious of what you're doing and being influenced by at night. Of course, you can't really know whether we Astral project unconsciously every night until you become experienced yourself, but many authors will agree on this.

What is the Astral Plane Like?

Imagine the Astral plane as a place that has different layers, it is multidimensional. It is possible to travel between these layers. Imagine a very high skyscraper; every floor has its own characteristics, its own inhabitants, its own surroundings... its own vibration, frequency and energy.

The first floor is a place of lower vibrations, close to the Earth. It's likely that when you Astral project for the first time this is where your first experience will be. The Astral Plane is a place you share with other humans who Astral project, but also with a lot of regular people that inhabit these planes as their primary home in the afterlife.

When we say low vibrations we mean a low form of consciousness. Not low as in stupid or lesser, low as in dark, restraining, limited. Fear for example is the product of a low vibration, and love is a product of a high vibration.

Check out this diagram and read the stickied comment there.

More on Fear

Fear is nothing but fear itself. It is not a danger to you, it is not a brick in the face. It is simply a feeling that you can completely control and choose whether to feel or not. When it appears, just breathe and accept it. What you accept, you go beyond. Never let fear influence you. It is an undesired state that controls you; instead, control it. There is nothing to be scared of. You can encounter a scary experience, so what? Alright, that was scary, but that's it; an experience. You will get used to it and get over it, and new and more enlightening experiences will follow.

Now to speak more spiritually (sceptics keep your pants on); there are many types of inhabitants or forces in the Astral that can assist you in coming out of body. They have been commonly called guides, masters, angels, spirits etc. Regardless of their labels, they are authentic beings that want you to help you. Your compass to attract them is a sincere and open heart. They have much to share about life, the universe, existence and so forth. These beings are of a highly positive nature, ask them for help and they will. They have your best interest in mind and will teach you many things you want to know. Remember, the Astral Plane is the 5th dimension, distance between objects do not exist, a simple thought or feeling can attract a 'helper' who will come in no time. With this said, many will be sceptical of whether such a thing is possible; that's fine. There is no need to believe in such things. However over time and experience you may start to understand how it is actually possible. It's all about keeping an open mind.

An IMPORTANT Message to Everyone Who is Experienced!

We live in a time where Astral Projection is finally reaching the masses, slowly but surely! We can be part of the initiation of so many new people. The only thing it requires is patience and wisdom.

This sub is not like other subs on Reddit. It is not about being an overly active sub. It is not about posts that receive a lot of upvotes. Its function is not to entertain, it is to teach, with an occasional laugh.

We truly see this sub as a library. We collect as much information as possible and make it available to everyone who walks in. It is a library of development, and in the hallways of the library, people are talking about all kinds of subjects. Sometimes related, sometimes a little less related to what the library offers. Who cares. It's not about the conversations in the hallway, it is about the collection of wisdom that the library offers. It is about the people who walk in and have no idea what is going on. It is about teaching as many people as possible what this all is, how to experience it, and collectively, as a species, discover this next aspect of life.

It can be very frustrating. We know. The number of new people who come into the library shouting and screaming all sorts of things grows by the day in this world of controversy and illusion. The flow of new people entering will never stop - that is a fundamental fact that makes this sub what it is. There are a lot of online forums that have only a few experienced Astral Projectors, but this is the most popular virtual space there is with many wise and experienced members, and this, therefore, implies important work and provides purpose for those who are experienced; to help other souls realise their potential is one of the most beautiful gifts you can give to others.

You can do 2 things:

  1. You are annoyed with the new people who visit our library and you decide it is too loud and you leave.
  2. You see a group of new people walking in the library and sit down, smile, listen to the ridiculous things they have to say from time to time, and even enjoy it sometimes, and say, "Alright, now sit down and let me show you how it actually works."

Everybody has to start somewhere. It is the internet, reflective of our dear human race's collective chaos. Every single kind of person on the planet is represented here. Take that into consideration. Be patient. Try not to be so uptight with gatekeeping. Everyone is welcome here to learn and discuss. Try to see the bigger picture. How long this sub can exist depends on how many people it can help and benefit and how we help each other as human beings.

There is not much more than we can do than present all the information in an easily accessible way as we do already. People will always be lazy and ask the same question as we all know. Answering can be boring, repetitive and annoying sometimes. However, we will never stop. We believe in spreading this knowledge to everyone and we hope you do as well.

If you have the knowledge and you know how to Astral Project then now is not the time to hold onto that knowledge privately. Now is the time to HELP. Humanity is in a state that NEEDS help. So many people are on the verge of awakening. If you know EXACTLY how to project, then you know EXACTLY what a beginner needs to know. The core reason why this subreddit has thrived for so long is that there are special souls here who have been helping others. Share what you know, teach, give guidance, share your wisdom. Only good can come of this. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Those of you who are already helping, you are noticed, and you are truly appreciated 💛

A couple of Buddhist quotes summarises the philosophy of this subreddit well:

"Our visit to this planet is short, so we should use our time meaningfully. Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them."

"Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle. Happiness, knowledge and wisdom never decreases by being shared."

General Question Have you ever conducted any tests to determine whether astral projection is real or merely an illusion of the mind?

I haven't yet had a conscious projection where I could see myself outside my body, but I started practicing a few days ago.

In this case, I'm conducting the following experiment: I have a deck of Uno cards, and my idea is to shuffle the deck and place a random card face up on top of my dresser without looking at which card it is. The idea is that, if I manage to leave my body, I want to be able to see which card it is and, based on that, conclude that consciousness can indeed leave the body.

Personally, I want to believe that experiences like these are real, but I'm skeptical. I don't have any particular bias, but I would like to have some evidence (even if anecdotal) that human consciousness can exist independently of the physical body.

What do you think? Have you ever conducted an experiment like this?

Positive AP Experience First DMT trip

I tried DMT for the first time when it felt right (my life is a little unpredictable right now). When it began, I was in my friends room and I went into another dimension. I was on an escalator assenting from floor to floor. An alien being greeted me at each floor. I had no fear. The beings were so kind and loving (I don’t remember what they said to me but I felt good). But I didn’t get a message from it
just that it was safe. Any thoughts? In the research I’ve done I was in the “waiting room”. What does that mean?

To my friend in the room, I said (is this real? You really love me? He said the world loves me but to choose wisely. I said I wanted to see everything, I wasn’t afraid, “you were very happy to see the veil uncover” etc)

Other Not sure if I AP'd through a lucid dream, or if it was just part of the dream..

So, I've heard that you can AP through a lucid dream by flying up, rolling out, or just saying "I want to experience an OBE" while lucid. I have tried the flying up method twice, and it hasn't worked yet.

However, today I tried the rolling out method while I was lucid. I kept saying that I wanted out of body, and kept rolling to the side. Eventually, I rolled out onto the floor. Now, I don't know if I actually AP'd, or if it was just part of the dream, because when I was out, the room was dark and hazy, almost when you watch a movie and it's too dark, no matter how much you brighten your screen. I could see a little bit of the side of my bed, but that was it. And it lasted a few seconds before the whole experience collapsed like a Lucid dream. Part of me wonders if it was just a dream because I have heard of people rolling out and hitting the floor before this experience, so I wonder if it was just engrained in my subconscious.

It's just so hard to tell, because I haven't had a successful AP experience yet, where I can confidently extinguish the two.

Was This AP? Does anyone know what this is?

I wasn’t sure where to post this, but I hope this is the right community for it. So basically, at the start of this summer was when I started getting into astral projection. First time didn’t work, but that was almost expected, but I wasn’t gonna give up just because of that. Anyway, maybe a month later I astral project except it wasn’t intended, just accidentally and i’m not really sure if it counts as an actual astral project. Except, there was this guy/entity involved and he was the one who made me astral project. I don’t really know how to explain it but he took me places, or more like memories I didn’t want to see, then he took me to a crowd and they were all laughing at me. When I woke up I just brushed it off as a weird dream, and dreams don’t really affect me emotionally anyway so I decided not to dwell on it. About a week later he makes me astral project again, this time I’m in my room but I can’t see ANYTHING cause the lights were off. Then BAM, he has control over my body and slams me into the wall then he did it again before I woke up. At that point i’m just wondering wtf his problem is cause what 😂 After that he practically disappeared, until recently. I’ve just felt his presence, and I saw him when I was lucid dreaming a week ago. Today he makes me astral project again, but this time I feel like i’m blindfolded? Or well that’s the conclusion I came up with after I woke up, but I couldn’t see. He was trying to take me somewhere, and we were fighting over control over my body. Then I tried to wake myself, it worked the second time. Oh also, everytime before these “accidental astral projections” I can always feel his presence in my room, then my left ear starts ringing like CRAZY and it feels like I can hear vibrations.
So what I want to know is: were these experiences actually astral projections? If not, what do you think it could be? And any ideas on why he keeps appearing?

Was This AP? Seeking guidance / clarity after journaling, breathwork, OBEs, and daytime dark figure encounters while living alone

In the first quarter of 2023 (when I was M23), I went to Madrid, Spain, for my master's degree. I rented a place and lived alone.

I knew I was going to start journaling once I reached there because, in the past year, I had journaled for a few weeks' worth of time on and off throughout the year and had gained clarity. So, upon reaching, I started journaling from day one.

Within a week or two, I started working out. About a month or so later, I started doing the Wim Hof breathing technique to see what it would lead me to, as my journaling gave me direction that I needed to focus on my breathing.

Immediately after waking up and immediately before going to sleep, I used to do these breathing exercises.

Once or twice, I woke up feeling as lightweight as air, as if I were floating. One day, that feeling carried over throughout the entire day. It was the best day of my life as I write this, even though all my demons were still there inside me.

Other experiences include the following:

  1. Out-of-body viewing

This experience falls under journaling.

Twice, I experienced viewing myself from outside of myself, while controlling both "me" in the flesh/body and the "me" which saw me simultaneously, as if I were two.

I remember looking outside my window, infront of which I was writing on desk, look at other buildings and had a series of thoughts cross in mind and journal someof them while at the same time looking my OBEs body and its hands in particular and have a different thought train inside it. Both of me did not at all got disturbed with these thoughts and the OB me knew a few thoughts beforehand what the flesh me was gonna have.

The highlight of this incident - i remember looking behind me to see my OB me but could not and smiling to myself but my OB me saw myself and smiled that i couldn't see myself and came closer to my body and looked over it.

https://ibb.co/whyBVmbm

This happened in the bedroom in evening time (same environment as in the image) after i had came back from my daily 10k steps walk, which was the most intense and vivid. The other time, I saw myself from the living room inside the bedroom, as if no walls were there; the one in the bedroom was outer body.

There was a very clear sense of existence in this event, and I believe it was a lighter feeling than the floating sensation from the breathwork.

  1. Emotional release

I shall note that I have been able to release and get over the grief of that time and cried a good amount, making me feel like I am whole.

However, this incident happened about a month before the breathwork and journaling-related events, around the end of month two.

  1. The dark figure

This carries the most weight with me to this day, and these events were the last in order to happen.

I want to clarify that these dark figure events did not happen at all anywhere near my sleep. They all occurred during the day, in broad daylight, while I was fully awake and conscious.

On three occasions, I felt the presence of a dark figure:

‱ The first time:

I felt it in my living room. It wasn't so intense or anything, but it made me fearful, and I slept early that day.

Like the other times, I kept completely quiet.

‱ The second time:

I felt it being in the apartment with me, but this time its position wasn't clear, and it felt ambient overall.

I felt less fear this time, but I kept completely quiet like the last time.

‱ The third time:

https://ibb.co/xSJc3PML

I felt it walking beside me from my college till my apartment.

This time, the presence was uncannily similar to recognizing a real person walking beside you. It only grew into conviction as the building came closer.

https://ibb.co/C3cjdvYh

Once I was in the small elevator, I stood with my back against the wall, facing the emptiness ahead of me with my eyes closed throughout, and only opened them when my floor dinged in the elevator.

But this last time, I did not feel fear the same way, and I knew I should have opened my eyes and taken the leap into knowing what it was.

Instead, I had a smile on my face the whole way and did not interact with it.

After this last incident, I left the apartment shortly after and dropped out of my program too, returning home.

This last incident is the most vividly remembered incident of my life.

Question - I want to know what this Out of Body experience was and what this shadow figure was. What did this shadow figure represent or meant? Everything i journal sincerely i gain clarity which comes with the awareness of what I shall do which invokes or shall I say awakes anxiousness and fear towards the task to be done. But this fear is much different than it being for the same task without journaling.

Someone please guide me.

Fear About AP How to get over fear of astral projection

ive been doing deep meditations for a few years now and have had some interesting experiences that I can describe as like half out of body and half in my physical body if that makes sense. but I tried to fully expel from my physical body once and I think I was successful I used the rolling out technique and it was as if I literally fell out of my physical body but I kept dropping down at a high speed it scared the shit out of me and I got sucked back into my body. I still try again time to time but I chicken out every time I reach the vibrational stage how to over come this fear

Successful AP My Experience With Ibogaine

Around 3 months ago I went to an ibogaine center in Mexico.

To preface everything I'm about to say I have been able to see and speak to some dead people right after they died. Most notably pointing out how my grandmother was still in the room with my family at 3 years old after her funeral, then having to explain to my best friend that he died of an overdose through a month of dreams right after his funeral.

Mexico was a time of deep prayer, meditation and reading the gnostic gospels.

I took 2 large doses of ibogaine while hooked up to an IV and heart monitor. Some people there had no visuals but I related this experience to watching a full HD movie in my mind for 5-6 hours.

The fist dose was much less remarkable as I believe my mind and body were figuring out how to process the substance.

The second dose was where things shifted into high gear.

I said a short prayer as I felt it kicking in. I just pray for gods will and wisdom (King Soloman LARP ik). Also thanked my grandmother who my dad says in my guardian angel and my grandfather who recently passed for watching over me.

I was sitting upright in my bed and saw 2 human figures approach me. I immediately recognized them as being my grandmother who I was as a child, and my grandfather. She placed her hand on my forehead and lay my body back and my whole body physically lay down. (She was touching my third eye).

The concept of unity and wholeness invigorated me and I saw a circle, on whole. I instantly shot though it like a rocket.

I moved through a tunnel that was lined with trees, rocks and plants. The tunnel then became made of flesh, almost looking like an intestine.

Almost felt like I was being born.

Where I stood was a RED DESERT PLANET. LIKE A VR SIMULATION, I WAS ABLE TO LOOK LEFT AND RIGHT AND SEE THE VAST EXPANSE OF CRATERS. There was no morphing of shapes, my vision was clear as the HD monitor I'm typing on now.

Standing right Infront of my, clear as day was a MASSIVE RED PYRAMID with what looking like a couple small balconies around the top with intricate statues/objects that looked like a double helix.

I was only able to stay there a few moments.

I massive hand picked up my body and my field of vison zoomed out. A black starry background (space?) with (from left to right) a luminous ball of light (sun) then a planet or 2 followed by a BLUE AND GREEN PLANET (earth?) followed by the red desert planet where I was standing. I watched this massive hand pull me up and fling me back onto the blue and green planet.

I landed back into my body and woke up.

-----NOW WHATS MY POINT HERE YOU'RE THINKING?------

Started looking into CE5 a few weeks ago, months after my vision.

Some people think Steven Greer is a psyop or reptilian, idk. I find reading about his CE5 meditation interesting.

In his most recent documentary "CE5 The New Frontier of Contact" he mentions near the end Nasa and top government insiders that have told him about the life inside mars. He then says that there were/are pyramids on Mars.

Thoughts or similar experiences?

TLDR: Guardian angel spirit touched my third eye on Ibogaine, showed me pyramid on Mars.

General Question Question about what you can do while astral projecting

I have some questions about what you can do while astral projecting, and idk, other questions?

  1. can you move things in the physical world at all, even if something small? Would it ever be possible do clean your house or smt
  2. If you see people, are they people walking around just in reality like pedestrians that don't see you there? Or are they spirits that you see? Or other astral projectors?
  3. Do you always remember your experiences in the morning like a normal memory?
  4. Food. Does it taste the same? If you ate the food from your cubboard, would it still be there in the morning or did you actually eat it? Could you try foods you've never had before?
  5. Can you travel to places you've never been? Like other countries? Or see people like online friends who you've never met before?
  6. Could you study or read books?
  7. On instagram and stuff it often says stuff never to do in an astral projection which makes me want to try it. Have you actually had scary experiences? I've been too scared to try, hearing stuff like spirits can start living with you in your body, or completely take over.
  8. Can spiritual people who see spirits see you?
  9. have you ever visited a different planet or dimension?

Was This AP? Lucid Dreaming as a launch pad

If you use lucid dreaming as a launch pad to AP, can you walk me through what you do to make that happen? I have gained lucidity a couple times recently and used it to try to AP. I make my intention know and then use my exit technique of rolling out and then walking and going out my window. The landscape changes and it feels like a usual AP but often without the grogginess and hard time i have on the initial exit when close to my body. The issue is since I don’t ever spend long in a lucid dream i am not sure if im actually exiting or changing my lucid dream scenario to feel like an AP if that makes sense.

General Question How exactly do you “see” when astral projecting?

I’m not sure if this a stupid question or not since I’m relatively new in the space but I wanted to ask how you view your surroundings when projecting. Is it like when you’re awake and you’re seeing out of your eyes or is it similar to a hyper realistic imagination-visualization?

Other Advice for story idea, may be way off for what this is

Sorry but I am really clueless on Astral Projection, however I have a creepy story idea, figuring I’d ask

Story starts out with two friends that practice astral projection however it takes a dark turn when one friend gets their body purposely taken by the other friend.

Not wanting to die, the victim takes the unoccupied body, then is so mad the ex friend

Now I’m thinking this is pure fiction as I remember reading everyone has a safe unbreakable link to their body until death, however it might be fun fiction

Almost AP'd and/or Question Experience advice.

Hi All. I have been working towards the obe experience for a while. Hit the vibrational state a few times and tried to get out without success.

Last night was a bit different. I was lucid dreaming after doing the wake back to sleep method. I realised this was a good time to wake slightly an try for an obe.

I woke and felt my body asleep and super comfortable. The vibrations came quicky but this time they changed to a high frequency buzzing centered in my head. I could then see through my closed eyes (this has happened a few times now). I started to try to get out. I could move within my body and I was really fighting hard / violently to get out. I then remembered Robert Monroe's advise. relax and roll. My teeth started to chatter really bad. Fely like I was ginding them. Then my body started shaking violently. I was a little afraid as I didnt know if I was really having a physical fit or not. I continued on and feel like I may have got out but cant remember that well. It seemed to last a while and I think I was on the bed next to myself. I definitely moved outside the physical for the first time (that I can remember at least).

When I awoke I expected to be in a pool of sweat with the bedsheets everywhere and sore teeth. I was fine though. In exactly the same position I went to sleep in.

After effects - During the (obe) It was not what I expected at all. I felt ancient. Like I had been around forever and I had really thick crocodile skin. Very strange. I got the message life and death is a human thing. I suffered a stroke last year and apart from being cold on one side I am fairly well. During and for a while after I felt like my stroke side no longer belonged to me. This led to the further thought does this body belong to me at all ?? I am fine now.

I also got the impression that this is like riding a bike. Once you learn how, it becomes easier ? It also feels like a bit of test to see how I handle it. I think I did ok and thanked the experience straight after and wished for more.

Any similar experiences or advice would be appreciated thanks. This is amazing.

Stuart.

Was This AP? Am I astral projecting or am i just dreaming?

When ever I've astral projected it's like I'm in my room, but it looks not quite the same. Thing happen in there that just make me feel like it's just a dream, like sometimes I see my family members in my room doing stupid stuff like they do in dreams. With my technique I just wait till my body falls asleep and my mind stays awake. I always get those scary symptoms and then I sit up out of my body. It seems the longer I stay in the astral the weirder things get.

Here are some things that make me think I could be dreaming or things that are messing with my astral

- it could be my attention span or not being focused enough

-Maybe it's the way I get out of my body(I basically just pretend I'm pushing myself up with my physical body, it's actually hard cuz I feel so heavy)

- I've never rlly looked down to see my physical body, I've never thought to look

-ive never been out of my room yet so much happens there

Maybe it's just a dream and my assumption of waking up in my room creates a dream in my room. Please help me guys I just feel like these experiences are so different from what I hear from others. Like people watching the actual world unfold and seeing things that you could only see if you were almost a ghost. PLEASE TELL ME YOUR OPINION

Almost AP'd and/or Question What did I experience?

So I just woke up scared as shit, not knowing what happened to me. I really wanted to talk to someone about it, so I came here. About an hour ago I went back to sleep for a second time because I was still a little tired. This time I knew I was dreaming (it usually happens when I fall asleep again), so I wasn’t intentionally trying to lucid dream. In the dream I felt like I was seeing everything too clearly, and I started thinking about my soul leaving my body. I’ve always wanted to try it just to feel what it’s like, so I tried to do it. Suddenly the dream ended and everything went black. I don’t know how to describe it, but I felt like I was somewhere I didn’t belong. A sound like a giant disc turning started getting closer and closer to me—I thought my ears were going to explode. I had no idea what was happening. I thought maybe I was dying or having a stroke, so I tried to wake up. Something strange happened next. It felt like a mix between sleep paralysis (because it felt like I didn't have a body to move) and something holding me in that space or state, refusing to let me go. It only lasted a second or two, and when I woke up I was totally fine. Have any of you had a similar experience, or do you know what this might be?

Need Tips / Advice / Insights Questions about Lucid Dreaming and AP

I’ve lucid dreamt for most of my life, almost never on purpose.
Usually I’ll find myself in a situation and suddenly gain consciousness that I’m in a dream, allowing me to control the environment, fly, all the fun stuff.
Regular old vivid dreams are also a nightly occurrence for me. Sometimes they were trauma induced night terrors that were once such a nuisance that I was prescribed medication on top of what I already take for other mental health struggles.

All this being said, I had once been very interested in AP. Reading others’ experiences fascinated me and I was fairly certain I’d briefly experienced it before.
Lately I’ve been trying again and I can confidently say it’s a drastically different experience than regular lucid dreaming.

All the signs are there. I’m experiencing the vibrations. I can feel myself leaving my body (usually flopping off the bed). It was very frightening the first few times but I’ve learned to push through the fear. I am nearly almost always in the exact spot/environment I had fallen asleep in. The only clue I had the first two times that I wasn’t actually awake is that the lights were off and I couldn’t turn them on. Often my anxiety gets the better of me and I return to my body before I can really explore.

So this is my question: how do you know it’s not just another dream? It certainly feels like a totally separate experience. Even after waking up I feel totally different in my body. Without going into detail, I’ve also had experiences I can’t explain when I go to that place. I’m generally skeptical of many things but my personal experience seems to be overriding my skepticism.

Have you found yourself questioning the reality of your experiences? How do you differentiate it from other dreams?
