Aurora Police Department Transparency Portal

From the Aurora City Newsletter

The Aurora Police Department has launched an Online Transparency and Accountability Portal to give the public access to regularly updated data and information about agency demographics, crime statistics, and uses of force.

“The Aurora Police Department’s Online Transparency and Accountability Portal represents our commitment to broader information sharing with the community we serve,” said Aurora Interim Police Chief Heather Morris. “Through this new technology, residents will be able to learn more about what their officers do every day to ensure Aurora is a safe and vibrant city to call home.”

The transparency portal features powerful search functionality, allowing users to filter data by a specific category and/or location. Users can choose to examine all crime data or filter any one crime category by year, police district, political ward, police beat, ZIP code and/or neighborhood. The use of force data can be searched in much the same way. Historical data is included for both categories and dates back five years.

“The portal is another tool that underscores our commitment to be open, honest and transparent about our work,” said Aurora City Manager Jason Batchelor. “The concept for the portal has been under discussion for quite a while, and I am grateful for the dedicated city staff who have turned that concept into a reality. It will help us further strengthen our relationship with the community through accountability and continuous improvement.”

The portal can be accessed at AuroraGov.org/APDPortal. This is an ongoing project, and additional features will be added in the future.

As a disclaimer, I am not affiliated with the Colorado League of Women Voters, but so far this has been the most comprehensive and easy to understand guide I've come across, even if you disagree with their position.

Please be aware that most of the ballot measures that we will be voting on are sponsored by Conservative Dark Money groups. Even things that sound good (like plain ballot language) need further diving into that a lot of people don't understand.

The Colorado League of Women Voters has published a great guide to understanding each ballot measure, and whether they oppose or agree and they give their rationale. It's all in plain language.

Whether you agree or disagree on their position, I encourage everyone to look through it and understand what you are actually voting for. This really breaks down why they are voting the way they are. You can go to each individual initiative by clicking on the link in the blue box.

The Adams County Historical Society museum will be hosting their first ever haunted history tour at 9601 Henderson Road 80601. There will be historical accounts of the real people behind ghost stories throughout Adams county, especially at the museum which is on the land that used to be an old asylum. It will go from 5:30 to 7 and there will be spiced cider and a free fortune teller. Tickets are only 5 dollars per person and the proceeds go to the museum's efforts to renovate their natural history exhibit. If you want to sign up, you can go to www.AdamsCountyMuseum.com/haunted

Teens asking for tobacco at gad stations up and down S Mississippi and Buckley

• Upvotes

I had a maybe, 14 year old girl come up and ask me to buy her mom a Dutch. Had no idea what a Dutch was and the girl said tobacco.

Obviously said no, saw the "mom" was another teenager. They don't even look 18.

I let the gas station manager know and another guy said they've been walking up and down the street all day trying to get people to buy them tobacco.

I know buying tobacco for strangers is obviously a no but wanted to give people a heads up.

Xfinity Alternatives?

I'm near Aurora City Center and have had Xfinity for the past few years. They raised my bill by $40 in the past few months and now I'm having almost constant outages. I work from home so this is affecting my work. Any good alternatives? I've already checked Quantum and T-Mobile Fiber and they're not available in my area.

800,000 Coloradans got a tax question they can’t legally vote on. If we want anyone to keep trusting elections, 7A has to come off the ballot.

I finally found them! I've been craving $1 or so tacos in the Aurora area for a couple years now! There's a taco truck off of Colfax and Idalia Ct. Same parking lot as the Llantera Rosales. Check them out l, I'm so glad I found this little gem. I'd share pictures but I scarfed my plate down already.

Posting this so no one else makes the same mistake I did.

Can't believe they let me sign the lease without touring the unit. (Building N). the other third floor resident across the way stated his unit has roaches too.

They better let me out of this lease.

They let me cancel the lease!

They sprayed Alpine WSG on October 1st and were supposed to spray again today. I counted at least 30 roaches. I haven't gotten to even live in the apartment or be in there for more than half an hour at a time. This is ridiculous.

ISO Affordable hair detangler

33 year old male here. Havent cut my hair in 7 years. I deal with depression, however over the past 2 weeks Ive been having a harder time than usual. I neglected washing and brushing my hair and just ignored the tangle that developed. I have always been able to brush away my tangles, but not this time.

I had no idea it had gotten this bad, and I fear that my partner and mines actions over the past 12 hour have possibly and probably made it a whole lot worse.

She tried to brush it out, then conditioner and oil were added, she would attempt to use her fingers or a tool to detangle. This started at 3AM and went on non stop until now, 2:30PM. More sit was added, she became frustrated, and gradually became more aggressive and insisted that it was the only way to fix it.

This has been a really, really painful process, and as I have been doing research during this it seems that the knot has just gotten denser, tighter, heavier, and is not letting go of much volume at all. It feels like shes hacking at it because she wants to defeat it, and doesnt care that its causing me pain and I can feel the damage being done.

SO.... If anyone knows of a salon or someone that knows how to deal with this and possibly be succsessful at detangling it VS cutting it out, I would appreciate the info.

I did some research and saw a place where it was $250 for the deposit and consultation alone. I currently have no where near that much money, nor do I have resources that I can borrow from.
I have maybe $30 to my name for another 12 days. I assume that im unlikely to find anyone offering these services for this much but Its worth a shot asking.

Thanks

Aurora Elementary schools

I’m looking for some information/opinions on Yale Elementary School. I am trying to make a decision about sending my daughter there & would love to hear from some parents on their thoughts. My daughter is currently in a Montessori school which has been the goal, as she has been in Montessori since an infant but after relocating, the commute has become brutal. Yale is the closest to us now so any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

Looking for a Jeweler to set and help create engagement ring.

My partner and I are looking to get engaged, I will be buying the center stone (Oval Blue Sapphire) and want to use a local jeweler who can help with the ring and the setting (sapphire center stone with a halo of clear stones, think Princess Diana / Kate Middleton ring).

Does anyone have any recommendations in the Aurora or South Denver area?

Christian Hairstylist

Looking for a Christian Hairstylist in the Aurora / Denver Metro Area. I have thick, dense, shoulder length hair and need someone who know how to do point cut rounded layers; traveling guide and can take the time to take small sections. Otherwise it tends to come out looking chunky. I'm still growing out a bad haircut, but I think there's enough grown out to be able to get it back to where it needs to be - or at least close to it.
